The way some people drive is putting me off .
GTS open lobby.
The rammers are still ramming and getting away without penalties but you get it  wait did I say that already.
I thinking off going back 1 more time tonight, I did not get my top 5-10 spot even though I was in the top5 for the 1st few laps, until the car Infront made a mistake and I did my best to miss them which I did & got punished by the driver behind:lol::lol:.
I guess that is GTS.
Got P10 after Q, got to P5 after missing the car making mistake on the frist few laps then got hit three times by the same person until I was P16.. lol

One good thing every followed the tyres rules.

Don't leave us hanging. Lights to flag victory?
Hah, no. The guy who started second was quicker, and one-stopped. The Atenza would lose 2s per lap by the fifth lap of either set of tyres (probably more after that), so I went 7M, 5S, 5S, no refuelling. Still had to pass three cars in my final stint to get second place - two at turn 10 in consecutive laps (I could get through Rainey quicker for some reason) and one on turn one (well... two. Andretti Hairpin) on the final lap, but a decent second. Actually my best points finish of the season.

Hopefully puts me in top 25 for Mazda, behind all the A+ and S drivers who suddenly turned up this season.

Good 1st race at Laguna, QT was a .25 which was good for 15th in the Jag. I wasn't aiming to be high up the grid. 1st few turns went well after race start, no big pile ups, gained a place and lost a place, pick up another place at the corkscrew, lapping quite well and staying out of trouble. Go from S to M end of lap 8, should have gone in L7, circulated fine on the mediums, gained a few places due to others mistakes, again I stayed out too long, swapped to softs again end of lap 14, should have gone in at L12. 1 more place on the penultimate lap and I finish P10, clean race bonus, which is a miracle
Going in M6 for next race on main account, same overall plan, stay out of trouble but with better tyre decisions 👍

I actually WON a race. Admittedly it’s at D/S level but I’m kind of blown away atm.

I was riding in my Beetle in the second Manufacturers race of the day. I had finished 10th in the first one and thought I would give it one more go before I have to return the Beetle.

Anyway, I set the third fastest lap in qualifying behind a 911 and a McLaren. I’m happy with this and hope to finish in a good position, well good for me that is.

Started the race on softs and pitted on lap 6 in 5th position changing to Mediums and topping the fuel up to go the distance if I have to. I did have my doubts as the mediums had not been good in race one.

Back in the fray I set about trying to chase down the two leaders, who had yet to pit. As I feared, mediums shocking but I was holding station with the leaders and so stuck with them until 2nd pitted just in front of me on lap 13. I follow him in and return to the track on Softs in 3rd position behind the second place McLaren and the 911.

First full lap after the out lap and I post a low 1:24 which puts me within touching distance of second. That lap turned out to be the fastest lap of the race. The guy in the McLaren responds and I’m resigned to a creditable 3rd rounding the last corner. As I make the turn, the McLaren, not 50m in front, snaps to the left and ploughs into the inside wall. I head to the line glorying in my second place.

Leaderboard pops up.......and I’m not on it!!!

Then I notice the board only starts at second place, the gentleman in the McLaren.

As I am thinking “how is he 2nd” , I scroll up......and see MY NAME. I had WON!! The 911 driver hadn’t used Mediums and incurred the dreaded 20 second penalty.

Now, I recognise these circumstances may be viewed as a trifle fortuitous but do you know what?

I WON !!!

Went with 6S 5M 6S in the M6, didn't really work out. QT .23, so better than the Jag. Only good enough for P16 in race 1, finished 1 place up, but I was a DR donor in that race. 2nd race qualified 8th, finished 1 place down. Enjoyable races, but I'm lacking in certain corners.
One last shot with the Jag, I think that's capable of a 7S 3H 7S.
Racing seems to have been clean enough, 2 CRB's out of 3.

Final race in the Jag started 13th & finished 13th, I was lacking pace and couldn't capitalise on others errors, 7S 4M 6S, better drivers than me can probably get another lap or two out of the softs.

I struggled around Laguna Seca in my Ferrari. Tire wear was a real problem. In practice I had to drive 1-1.5 seconds off my pace to preserve the tires for a one stop. Even then if I got into a slide, it would be game over. The rears just died.

But anyway, spin in the left hander after the corkscrew when I got a tiny bit of contact in lap 5. Bugger.....Pitted lap 7, then took another set of mediums until the end.

Ended up 12th, but secured enough points for a S rank invite hopefully.

Wish I had done more races than just 4 this season in the Hyundai as it turned out to be surprisingly reliable. Had a 5th, 4th, 4th and a 3rd.

Qualified 6th and went for the 7M/5S/5S strategy. Managed to keep up with leading cars and those on Softs peeled off to pit. Changed to softs on Lap 7 and came back out in 4th. Planned to come in on lap 12 for second set of Softs but noticed I was 6.5 seconds ahead of 4th and tires weren’t in bad shape so decided to stay out and keep 3rd place knowing I wouldn’t get caught. :)

Insanely quick practice lap times.

I’ve participated in the practice laps for the latest 2 official FIA events. The expressway using the Tomahawk yesterday and then today Laguna Seca using any of the cars in the top ten times.
I’m scratching my head somewhat trying to replicate what people are doing to achieve the top ten times.

If I use the same braking points and gearing as they do, I either run into the gravel or into the wall if in as high a gear as they’re using, or I make the corner, just, with as much tyre squeal as on the replays, but my revs have dropped and I’m having to downshift to keep momentum, when they don’t???

Im currently 5 seconds off the top times at Laguna Seca. I’m close to Lewis Hamilton’s times for at least the first half of each of the circuits in the Hamilton lap challenge. Sometimes half a second ahead of him. I was 1005th in the world at the Volkswagen Golf time trial at Brands Hatch yesterday, less than 1 second behind the fastest replays when using the same gears and technique as them and only half a second shy of the fastest recorded lap times for sectors of the Tsukuba circuit experience challenge.

I’m not the fastest, but I’m not normally too far behind. Something doesn’t add up when you use the same techniques as others and they work on the Lewis Hamilton challenges and various others but not at all on these FIA races.
What in the hell is going on???? Anyone else a tad suspicious??

Going live in about 5 minutes for the first North America manufactures time slot. Currently 3rd in the standings for Aston Martin, definitely not going to pass the two in front of me so the goal is to get just enough points to hold on to that position. I think somewhere around 180-200 points might be sufficient. Pit strategy will depend on starting position. The Gr3 Aston has terrible corner exit understeer, so probably going to struggle with that the entire race.

Edit: offline

I wasn't sure I was going to do any racing this weekend, but I felt pretty good so hopped in a lobby and gave it a try. Thought I was going ok, so tried a race.

I think a couple of people got a glitch in qualifying so I should have been 5th but was actually 3rd. I decided to start on softs and just try and get away from the carnage behind, and this kinda worked, but unfortunately the guy in 1st went on mediums and I just got kinda stuck behind them. Took me 9 laps to get past (not sure if I was just too careful or just too slow), but it meant I knew I was out of the podium. I tried running the softs to the end of lap 12, but when I put on the mediums I came out just behind a guy in a Ferrari who I figured would struggle with tyre wear.

I ended up kinda stuck behind him for a few laps with a guy just behind in a Supra, and I ended up outbraking myself into the 1st corner and I had to take avoiding action to avoid hitting the Ferrari, dropping behind both of them. I finally managed to get past the Ferrari (supra cleared him pretty quickly) and set off after the Supra, and I nearly got him on the last lap, but ended up 0.4 secs behind when crossing the finishing line. Lot of fun this race so one and out for me. Lets go next season :)

Guess who's running more than 1 race AGAIN. This guy! After having my qualifying ruined by someone barely moving while still on the racing line headed into the left-hander before the corkscrew, I started 15th on the Mediums. Ended up 12th. I need more than 136 points to cancel out one of my earlier races. Hopefully next race will be less scrappy and I can actually get a good idea of whether or not I have any pace around this track...

Wow that first room was something else. People just acting like you're not there when you are along side for a pass. I have been in some bad lobbies before but that one takes the cake.

I was wondering how I managed to finish ahead of you in that one. The front half was pretty clean I have to say, if my tires hadn’t fallen off a cliff on the last lap I think I could held onto those 2 spots I lost. I’m gonna try again just for fun, I can’t see me getting a good enough score here to gain any points here. :)

I started off the horrible race by going off in qualifying, and then putting 1/2 a tire off after the bridge and touching the brakes which sent me into the gravel trap. Then a series of incidents with other people just ruined the whole experience. Trying again...

Ok...just out of the last Manu race....first slot and one and done for me. Best lap in practice was 1:21.156

Lobby with S,A/S. Qualified 7th and finished 4th with 2 stops (6S-7M-4S) and no penalties 👍
144 points and I’m good with that!

Pretty civilized T1 and race overall. Made my way to 4th. - First stop: came back in 9th on Mediums. Made it back to 3rd and came in for second stop: back in 8th with fresh Softs and worked my way back to 4th. And so was it!

Good luck for the brave souls still racing!

I’m going to do the 7:40 slot. I ran a practice race last night and wanted two stops, so I’m glad to see y’all are making that work.

I ran a 1:21.4 in practice, and I’ll be super pleased if I can qualify under 1:23 and run consistent 23s/24s in the race. In a mid B-level lobby, I think I should do alright, but I guess time will tell.

The 2nd race went a little better then the first one, started 10th and managed to weasel my way up to 7th by the end. Still not enough points to gain anything but a fun race none the less, and a nice DR boost from the two races as well. Gonna try to sneak into the T16 race but it’s doubtful I’ll get in. Went 10M/7S in this one, opposite of what I did in the first race. :)

Second race for those that weren't watching my stream: Got an OK qualifying lap in considering the competition in the lobby (Deafsun, Stagger, etc) and started 12th. Which was only two spots higher than the first race but this time I stayed on the track during my lap. Just goes to show the speed increase in the 2nd room. Long story short, started on softs and picked off a few people with good pace at the beginning. Pit at the end of lap 7 for mediums to go the rest of the distance. Got held up by a McLaren and Vette that kept swapping positions. The car that was 5.5 seconds behind me after the pit stops actually managed to catch up to us. I was helpless trying to find a way around. Finally got my chance going up the hill to the Corkscrew and to my surprise made a successful pass on the outside. I was fully expecting to get punted off track or pushed over the rumble strip just enough to get a penalty. Neither happened.

The guy that caught up to us managed to get around me as I started to struggle on tires, and for the last couple laps I basically followed him as we both danced around with no grip. Was hoping he would make a mistake, but nothing. Funny enough it was the same guy that I posted about yesterday that squeezed me into the pit wall.

Finished 8th for 228 points which was not enough to improve my total. Hoping the guy in 4th for Aston ends up the same, as I will not be doing another race tonight. Those top level lobbies are stressful and I've had enough for today. :p

2nd slot of the night was good enough for me! Qualified 4th, and immediately gained 3rd after one of the cars in front got overambitious into Turn 1 and went wide then spun. In fact, everyone in front of me went too deep into Turn 1 and I almost followed them in! I started on the Mediums and managed to fend off a pass into the corkscrew, which saw the car attempting the pass spin out on the astroturf on the inside of the downhill portion (he went too deep trying to pass me on the outside of the entrance to the corkscrew). After that, I held a stable gap to everyone behind me on the softs, but the two leaders were steadily pulling away from me. I pitted on Lap 10 and emerged in 5th, having been undercut by 2 cars who started on softs and pitted before me for Mediums. Since I was now on the Softs, I ran 3rd and 4th down in a few laps and made short work of them. I guess 2nd place destroyed their tires, because on the last lap I gained about 3 seconds on them and finished less than 1s behind them. If I'd pitted 1 lap earlier I might've been able to get them. Oh well, 157 points and a 3rd place is enough to bump my 136 points from Round 1 out of the points tally, so I won't be going again, as I doubt I could do better on this track that I don't really like all that much. Unfortunately it's not enough points to get me back into the Top 10 for Chevrolet, so I won't finish any better than 11th. My Nations results should be good enough to give me a DR of S though.

Edit: Actually the car that tried to pass me into the corkscrew on Lap 1 got spun by the guy behind him, not from running over the astroturf. The guy that spun him only got a penalty for cutting the corner. He then spun a Porsche at the penultimate corner after the Porsche passed him while he was recovering from spinning the other car, and only got 2s for that. On top of that, another car hit the guy who got spun in the corkscrew because he came out of ghost mode right in front of the other car. This sent the guy who got spun at the corkscrew into another spin, but this time the car that hit him (completely on accident because of the ill-timed de-ghosting) got a 4s penalty! Great job fixing the penalties, PD!
