I sincerely doubt those statements considering that the Asia/Oceania races seemed to run without hitches.

Asia has issue as well, got disconnected for the 11pm (3pm GMT) FIA slot.

Race Recap:

Race 1: Peugeot VGT. Started 8th after a couple mistakes in qualifying. Down to 11th and pushed to the sand T1 with a 1 sec penalty. Last and didn't have a good race.

Race 2: With FT-1, crashed in qualifying and started lasted. P1 and P3 spinned on start and pin balled after the field. Last to 9th after T2 and stayed there till the end with 152 points. Would liked to go again but got disconnected thereafter and improved my Bathurst Time Trial instead.

PD having a nightmare at the moment. I did wonder if it’s purely down to weight of traffic through their servers with a lot of people stuck indoors now. Will see if it all goes wrong again shortly!

Races do seem reasonable but now but livery editor took over two minutes to load and apparently I have no decals.......

At the risk of encouraging the tin-foil hat brigade, which region did the threat of a boycott originate in?
Sounds like what happened last Christmas...

Haven't been involved in discussions surrounding said boycott, but from what I can gather it involved various streamers and top-ranked players drawing a line with the previous penalty system. This GTP article should get you up to speed on the matter (though reading the Penalty System thread suggests to me that the recent changes might have addressed some of the complaints they've made recently).

Anyway, managed to enter the 17:20 slot. Fingers crossed that there aren't any matching and/or connection issues this time around...

Good luck everybody.Fingers crossed!:nervous:

Car in front in warm-up had full connectivity but was all over the place!

Lag-Fest ahoy. Qualified P5 but all cars jittery.

Got into a lobby, disconnected in warm up as everyone else seemed to be and 5sr down

Unless you get a penalty for exiting the warm up!

I'm also having problems, the first time I see online severs status like this, and also some things in the game are taking too long to load, the only way is to wait.

The Community on GT site its having a problem too, not loading somethings.

Lots of cars seemed jerky despite 4/5 bar connections across the board. That aside, you can tell this Peugeot isn't a popular car. Lots of sliding around. I bottled qualifying and after surviving the first corner on lap 1, got divebombed and shoved out the way at the bottom of the hill on lap 2. 2 second penalty for it. (Ed - watched it back, this was actually lap 1 too. Guy tries to pass an AMG in front, starts braking at about 120 metres after having a slipstream down the hill. Great stuff.) Went okay after that and pitted on lap 8. Changed tyres because I forgot. Ended up overfuelling. Took 10th at the end as a Peugeot who had been following me earlier ran out.

I don't think I took the chicane well once. Awful race. I can definitely do better. I also jumped the start and didn't get a penalty for it.

I actually won!

Didn’t have a good swing of it in quali, I think I started fifth. However, all but one driver was above the 1:40 barrier, and that guy was quite inconsistent.

The guy ahead had a poor start that I had to avoid, meaning I was seventh into turn one. But, that was fourth by the end of the first sector courtesy of the usual melee up ahead.

I kept putting in mid-40s and was second by the stops. I then came out ahead by four seconds as I kept my tires.

Stayed in the 41s on the old tires, and the guy behind was pushing too hard. Took it by ten seconds, and apparently everything going on behind me was a bit rough.

Lucky run!

I had a good race but with jittery cars.
I was third on the last lap but bottled it on the chicane of death and ended up fifth. I didn't change my tyres, I don't know if it was maybe better to do it.

What a shambles! With nobody opting to be cautious with the obvious lag issues, P5 became P17 by the esses (Turn 2/3) as my VW was put into a spin by a chain reaction of the original P3 BMW tapping the original P1 Nissan over the left rumble strips, with it tapping the original P9 (a German Toyota), spinning it into me, and I ended up with the 2s penalty for 'causing a car to spin' of course! And that's rich, considering the Toyota had already tapped my rear quarter which I'd just stopped ending up in a spin in the middle of the esses. All 3 of the cars which caused the mayhem escaped penalty-free! :banghead:

So, I was P17/19 until the German Toyota came barging past, bumping me several times in the process. Upt to P16 on Lap 2, I was forced off the track and into the barrier by a Spanish VW cutting the esses. No penalty for him, but P19 and big damage for me, plus still having to serve my 2s penalty. A spin on Lap 3 put me down to P18 (and last), with a 1.5 s penalty after climbing 2 places previously.

I pitted fom P12 on Lap 7, exiting in P15. The German Toyota became a constant thorn inmy side for the next couple of laps, and I even managed to get a corner cutting penalty in the walled 'bus stop' chicane - never had that before! Finished a frustrated P11 for 38 points.

Nations Round 2
The penalty system is still a mess...

I went in the Viper - I figured having a car with a strong standing start would be able to shake up the likely Peugeot-heavy grid by storming straight past them.

I qualified P14, but was a rocket off the line, up to P8 going through the first chicane. Fantastic start, which was quickly struck down by a Corvette who lost control right in front of me coming out of it. He went completely sideways, and because I had no hope of avoiding him I got a penalty for the collision that inevitably sent him off. :irked:

The car behind went up the back of me as it happened as well so I was screwed regardless.

I got another penalty later for being hit by someone who made a very aggressive lunge up the inside at the last bend. I noticed it and made an effort to avoid contact but still came away with another penalty. So frustrating. 🤬

End result was P7 (123 points) so not bad, but if not for the unwarranted penalties it could have been so much better. :guilty:

Ah, you were in my race and following me for a bit. How was the Dodge on fuel?

I thought I recognised your name from somewhere!

Pretty good to be honest. In practice I found I could get 8 laps out of it going at a solid pace shifting by the torque curve, possibly 9 with some mild shortshifting.

With the way our race played out I managed to squeeze 10 laps out of it shortshifting in the slipstream before being forced to pit.

Just watching the replay back, I see it gave you a 2 second penalty at the seafront hairpin on lap 1 because of the German Peugeot not bothering to brake for it then using you to slow down whilst you were taking the normal racing line. :irked:

Well finally got into a race, wish I hadn't!

Qualified 7th after abandoning the first lap, I'd been doing mid 1:38s in practice which would have had me on pole but a couple of little errors put me 7th. 13th into the first corner, just tootling around in the midfield lapping in the mid 1:40s which was a full second off practice race pace so I switched it up and went for an early stop to get some clean air - hoping that it would negate the extra weight from the fuel and I could catch up to the group before they pitted... didn't work! Made up two places on the last lap and finished 11th for 156 points but I should have called it a day after the two failed attempts to race earlier! In practice I'd had runs where every race speed lap was under 1:40, this race, one lap dipped in at 1:39.9! It was just a shocker!

Add in that the earlier disconnect effectively cost me 2k DR as I bumped the SR back up to 99 by finishing last in Race C (not deliberately may I add!!)... today was not meant to be!

At least I can turn GT off, put my feet up and get ready for Match Of The Day...

Disnt realise there were so much problems(just woke up).

I'll add, about one hour before the 6pm race, I did experience the no races are loaded screen. I was going to do a couple Race Bs for warm up. I just jumped out of Sport Mode and jumped back in, everything was fine from there.

In my Nations race, no problems, but one player did leave or got disco'd.

With the recent news concerning Mazda's upcoming RX-Vision Gr.3 car, I thought I might as well go ahead and start my Nations campaign until I get the chance to sample the new machine. Did consider joining the Peugeot VGT train upon seeing the top 10 times, but couldn't get the most out of it, so stuck with the Citroen following a single, yet successful practice lobby.

After my initial plan to enter the 16:00 got scuppered for obvious reasons, I was fortunate enough to join the 17:20 slot, rubbing shoulders with @T_revisio and @GOTMAXPOWER in the process. Like the last Nations Gr.3 race I did, qualifying was forgettable - 18th on the grid with a 1:39.511. Suffice to say, I could've strung that flier a little better, but it wasn't too bad considering that the entire pack but one was separated by a little over a second (the 'one' didn't even set a time).

What a manic, manic race. Launched off the line into 14th, got squeezed off at the first S-bend while negotiating through the chaos up front. Survived to witness cars around me lagging all over the place (yes, even those with good connections), before taking another position as a red and yellow Beetle barges one of the nine Peugeots wide at the second hairpin. Another Peugeot - who had earlier punted the pole-sitting Ford GT into the gravel - pulls off to the side up the hill and gifts me 12th. Got some clean air and a provisional fastest lap (1:38.546, Lap 5), catching up with the Beetle and a train of cars for 9th. Pitted on Lap 7 (tyres + 71% fuel) following an unsuccessful attempt to pass the Beetle; lost a place to the Ford on Lap 9 after twice clipping the kerb through the death chicane. Regained more ground after following the Ford through, all while trying to conserve enough fuel to reach the finish. Still felt weary following the cold I picked up last week, so dropped back a bit, but caught back up to the Ford as we in turn caught up with the Beetle and GOTMAXPOWER's Audi in battle.

Come the penultimate lap, the Ford makes a similar mistake at the death chicane, grinding the wall and putting me up to 10th. The last lap was tense; the Beetle squeezes GOTMAXPOWER onto the kerb, GOTMAXPOWER and I briefly trade places, allowing him a second chance to take 8th from the Beetle. At the second hairpin, I braked early and took a wide line in an attempt to cover the inside; GOTMAXPOWER takes the apex, I take a hit from the Ford as I try and keep a clear distance from the Audi, the Ford picks up a 1-second penalty that carries him to the end. Whether it was lag-related, I don't know for sure, but the Ford driver seemed to carry a lot more speed into the hairpin than the three of us judging by my replays. Whatever the cause, he was far from happy with the penalty when I apologised to him afterwards. A shame, too, as he later gets a fantastic run through the death chicane, retakes 10th and holds me off as we cross the line five-hundredths of a second apart.

The Ford's penalty ultimately gifted me 10th and 177 points. Considering the server issues, my cold and my initial worry about being trounced in a one-make Peugeot race, I will happily take that as my first score of the main 2020 season. Again, it was a shame about the contact with the Ford and the penalty he picked up for it, but it seemed to me like the system was working as intended in that particular instance. Not sure if T_revisio would agree with that sentiment given what happened to him on the opening lap, though...

Can someone explain briefly how come my points have reset back to Zero? I did a Race at 17:20 & Came 3rd & Got 79 Points but did a Race just now got punted out and was plum last left the Race & Now it displays Zero?

Your points only reflect your last race, so if your last race had zero points, that is what you will keep from this round.

Damn, Has this recently changed? I don’t remember it being like this... Thanks for clarifying then. Gotta pump my A Game for last race.

Had a decent shot at second before the Italian clown in 4th - who punted 2nd and 3rd out of the way at the top of the circuit - blocked me when I was going past before divebombing me at the esses. I end up with a red S for the race purely for that. He gets blue after getting a penalty for punting someone and diving into people at corners on three other occasions. I'm genuinely seething right now. Fair play to the Swiss guy ahead of me who managed a pass through the chicane of death.

I'm even more seething after looking at his stats. I've raced against him before and remember him being dirty, but his rating graphs are a joke.

Nations Europe

One of 5 or 6 Pug VGTs, along with Porsches, Mercs and at least one Reanualt and Jag.

Race 2 (18:40):
Midway through Lap 1 of this race, I was already saying "This is my last one tonight, enough". I still said it at the end, for a diferent reason.

Qually was shocking for one reason - the Pole in the Porsche who, for not reason other than to 🤬 up my time suddenly brake-tested me whilst he was under a 2s penalty

So, I started P14 with the Polish Porsche directly ahead in P12. At the lights went out, I resisted the strong urge tojust end his chances there and then, and play the long game - be patient. That did not start well! I tried to get betwen the Porsche and the Austrian VW in front, but they moved inwards enough to stop me, so I lifted. Unfortunately, the P16 Spanish VW and the P2 Spanish Renault decided to have a meeting on the inside barrier of Turn 1 after the former had smacked the side of the former, 1s for each. But that held me up, braking to avoid their crash, and P11 or P12 elluded me, with the Polish Porsche up to P11 at the esses. The chaos through there had me hitting the back of a French Porsche which had overshot and now appeared in front of me. Hard into the Armco and P17 with front right damage. Approaching the final corner on Lap 1, a Porsche unghosted right in front of me and drifted across so that I thudded into it just before the braking point! He rightly got 2s (and flew off the track) but I got more damage. P15 and then P14 as a car pitted.
I was P10 by the end of Lap 2 and feeling at least a little more positive. Up ahead, the Polish Porsche had earned 1s for careless contact, and my prayers were answered as the Spanish VW from the startline shenanigans tagged the Pole and they both spun off, with only the Spaniard recovering. now I was P8. I nearly collected the Spanish VW as it went up the inside of an Italian one through the final turn, as I was already under full braking, but I just avoided contact. The Italian pitted, so I began Lap 6 in P7/15 and took P6 when the Spaniard went into the wall at the bottom of the hill.

i pitted on Lap 7 and gambled on not changing tyres, rejoining still in P6. P5 was mine on Lap 9 and i went on to set 3 fastest laps. The final 4 laps through the chicane of death were hairy, with grip decreasing noticeably. The P2 Italian VW wnt off at the top of the hill and I passed the Polish Mercedes at the bottom of it. By now, the chicane of death had me holding my breath! But I clung on for P3 and 33 points, with a clean race, although I'd lost the fatest lap to the spinning Italian on Lap 12. The dirty Polish Porsche? P9. How he still had a blue SR is beyond me.

Not much in the way of points for what I went through, but I couldn't do that again. Not until the N America slots anyway!

That was a fun race at the end with the group trying to pass the Beetle. It felt like there was a load of lag in that race, only a couple of cars were showing the full 5 bars, it was probably related to the server issues in some way.

Here is a better look at what happened to @T_revisio at the start:

The Peugeot in P2 braked too late and took the Ford out who in turn rejoined in just about the worst possible way.
