Yet again a poor result. Number 1 on the door, qualified 5th and was having a decent enough race. A small group of us, 3-4 cars were lapping together. I’d lost a couple of positions but was still in this little pack. Then on lap 8 my wife decided to burst in the room and talk to me and put me off massively and I went wide on a corner into the gravel :banghead:

Crossed the line in 12th but 2 drivers hadn’t changed to hards so I gained a couple of places. 👎

That would kill the game. This is why I don't like being always-online for no reason.

I understand, but they're killing it slowly as it is. I've never liked games requiring a constant connection either. If you choose to race online it's because you want to race against real people, not AI. If they upped the AI and had an ofline save, at least we could race and have the results sved for when the game was back online. I know, nobody would like that, but what else can offer a solution to the mess we're in?

[Edit: and what's more annoying is becuse the replay data is held online, we can't even use the wasted time to record them for Youtube!]

Had an almost perfect race - best race pace by far for 10.5 laps in the race - recovered more than 14s to the leader. Too bad I binned it twice in the 2nd lap and finished P14.

Last night tried a FIA race again and ofcourse it was a big disappointment. My start was very bad, my fault and I ended up at the back of the line. No problem, race on. After three laps I managed to raise to 8th place. Then came T1............. and you know what happened next.

I just hate it! While being very serious and trying to make the best of it, this behavior is common in Daylies and FIA's. They just don't care and I strongly think that they have a lot of fun while being savely in their homes behind their screens. They ruin a lot of peoples races and they still can go on with it. With more than five million players we cannot expect all players to be nice and fair, but the system doesn't help us either. I think it's very hard to create a system that serves us all, but this system is just utterly BS. I don't blame PD for it, because at least they try their best. The fact is, that a lot of drivers are just gamers and nothing more than that. Gamers with a bad attitude ofcourse. The kind that always look for tricks, shortcuts, codes, hacks and weaknesses of the system. So whatever penaltysystem will be introduced by PD, they will always be a pain in the ass for everyone. The problem is, that GT offers us great races on a scale that no other game does. But that greatness is also a weak point. What to do? I honestly don't know. I'm thinking about switching to other games / sims that I own, but it does not feel rigjt. GT is such a great game and I am with it from the beginning. If I had the opportunity to take part in creating the penaltysystem, I would introduce a disqualification for every punt from behind and after a few followed by abandon the player. It doesn't matter if you do it on purpose or just by accident. That's the only way they will ever calm down.
There was a time when you could reliably expect the game to penalize someone for punting you off track or spinning you, even if it did occasionally get it wrong (e.g. penalizing the car that the spinning car contacted AFTER it started spinning). They don't need the draconian measures you're suggesting to bring back order, they just need to hire someone who's not a complete idiot to work on the penalty system, starting by going back to how it was last year.

So is this preseason going to only take the SINGLE best race out of 10 and have the other 9 races not count, or is it going to take the best 1 race out of every 2 races, for a total of 5 that count towards your final points tally? The wording is a little confusing and makes it sound like it could go either way.

👎

That's why during FIA I use noise cancelling headphones. Plus she knows to leave me alone during FIA races :).

I have not able to even connect to the server this afternoon. Checked network speed on PS4, everything looks good but now I get a message that the GTS server is undergoing maintenance.., totally offline now.

"Go to gran-turismo.com for details", it says:

Maintenance is taking place.
This site's Gran Turismo Sport-related features are currently undergoing maintenance.
We apologise for the inconvenience. Please come back when the maintenance has been completed.

So illuminating!

That’s what happened. Was being grilled as to why I hadn’t switched the oven on yet to cook dinner

Once during a race I got a message on my phone from my partner asking me to put the oven on. I managed to do it during a pit stop. I've also signed for a parcel during a pit stop. It's surprising how much you can get done while they change tyres and refuel
