I spent some time making a nice livery for the GT-R and I have no idea how to drive it or Autopolis

Plus my SR is at 89 after the Supra race at the weekend

Can't wait to see what happens here

Fantastic qualifying:

View attachment 942573

I started on hards and got two SR downs and a track limits penalty while stuck behind a guy after I pitted. Whoops.
Yeah I was a bit surprised when I saw you heading to the pits after lap 1 given the lobby we were in..

...

Also thanks to @Mistah_MCA because if not for his video I would have been completely lost. ....

I'd say this race would have been fun given N300 cars and sports tyres but the added power really meant that mistakes were common and people desperately trying to defend afterwards. Don't think I'll bother with the Sciroccos as I don't like the FF cars (I may well yet though), Brands hatch however looks like good fun and will hopefully reward me with an overdue good result.

If the pit stops are 11 sec each, the tire advantage is 1.5 sec per lap (x 15 laps), and you don't need fuel... it seems a no-stop race might be exactly the same as a 2 stop MMH strategy...

1.5 sec x 14 laps on M's = -21 sec
11 sec per pit stop x 2 = +22 sec

If the time difference between the two tires comes down at all to 1.3 sec or less after 4-5 laps on the M's, and as the fuel load lessens the weight of the car toward the end, the no-stop might even be faster.

Given all the concerns for 'racing incidents' I wonder if this might be the better approach, to just start from the back and run the H's all race... but I have to admit I'm not brave enough to try it. You'd want to let anyone who get behind you and closes up get right around... to avoid any offs of course, because you aren't making up any speed later, if you get knocked off course.

EDIT: oh yeah, was also going to mention: it's like they filled the gravel trap extra deep this race... like a golf club superintendent sets up the course for a Major with extra deep rough... just in case you bin, it, you're paying the price!

Happy man I am:) tried 2 times, first one Q ruined by some british, started 19th. Race was pretty clean, except spaniard who probably didnt practice and dont know braking points... I finished 15th beacause brit who ruined my Q got tyre penalty...
Second one went good. Q10th, at the end of first lap Im 7th:lol: At some point I was 3rd, fighting with @KaiB for 2nd, very clean driver:cheers: My strategy wasnt good I go for 6/6/2, lost few positions beacuse of it... Finished 7th for 127pts which for me is better than good:) probably I climb 2 or 3 positions in polish leaderboard:)
Good luck everyone!

Well, today was a total disaster....

First two races were filthy as hell, with me getting sent to the shadow realm multiple times. Third race wasn’t much better. The fourth race was the most promising, but my two-stop backfired badly as I was held up by one-stoppers and was forced to pit for the mandatory Hards, dumping me in 12th. Fifth race was a race to forget. Overtaking is impossible with the atrocious brakes making any lunges a risky proportion. I kept outbraking myself at least once per race.

And against my better judgement, I’ll be taking my Alfa Snail to Brands Hatch tomorrow. I can only hope that I can make my car as wide as possible to fight off overtakes.

15:00

Qualifying went poorly with me failing to set a properly representative lap time so I ended up starting on 18th, not about 5th or 6th which I could have done even without the slipstream.

I started on the Hard tyre and was in 15th by the end of the lap when I pitted for medium tyres. I rejoined in last place and moved my way up the order to 14th. I pitted again on lap 8 for another set of medium tyres for the end of the race and rejoined in 16th.

I made up a few positions on that last stint with people pitting ahead and was in 12th in the last lap. The last lap and at T6 the Italian behind me gave me a nudge if the track leaving me with dirty tyres and dropping 2 places to finish 14th.

Could have been a top 10 if the race went smoother. Also thanks to @Mistah_MCA because if not for his video I would have been completely lost. Also I really need to to better in qualifying, i'm normally better in the race but my qualifying form recently has been appalling.

16:20

Qualifying went ok, nothing great just not bad and ended up starting 12th.

Lap 1 was interesting as the first few corners went smoothly until T6 when the car ahead cut across into me not realising I'm there and goes of the track, then at T11 a car behind out braked themselves and instead of turning away as to not hit anyone go bowling and I get sent from 11th to 19th, great.

I slowly caught up to the back of the pack by lap 2 and up to 12th by lap 7 when I pitted for fresh mediums. I caught up to a pack ahead by lap 9 and managed to get a pass done into 18 and get another as a car ahead pits and successfully defend my place leaving me in 11th. Lap 11 and am now in 10th thanks to others pitting and was slowly being caught by the car ls behind until I again pitted on lap 14 dropping me to 15th. I just held of the car behind on cold tyres who as it turned out from experience earlier wasn't afraid of contact. The car ahead in 13th slowed in the last sector allowing me to catch up and eventually just pip them over the line for 13th.

Good pictures, but anyone else think the modeling of this car in the game is one of the worst?! And it being one of the iconic cars from the franchise, it makes no sense. It's too tall instead of wide and long, and the wheels/tires are too big, and the ride height is all wrong... it looks like a bad Hot Wheels version of the car, especially now with those stupid (and inappropriate) Michelin markings on the race tires. Total fail in the graphics/modeling department, really poorly done.

I’ve had a few weeks off GT Sport but I’m going to have a go at the Manu tomorrow. I like Brands Hatch and feel Gr.4 is the ideal classification for it. I’m hoping the SLS is competitive here but it seems to be a good all rounder. I’d imagine there will be a few spinners tomorrow.
SLS is good with pointing the front where want it to go. Brands Hatch is all about turn in. Should be good to go.

Well I didn't expect anything and expected even less when I saw I was in with @Tidgney! In fact me and @watto79 were both wondering if there had been a mistake and we'd wandered into the wrong room!

Started 15th, ran a different strat to most (9H/6M), finished 13th. Should have defended harder when getting towards my pit stop - lost three places in two corners - it could have put me on the verge of a top ten by the end but I was too nice. Next time, swipe across people on a much watched live stream!!:D:boggled:

Well, a good decision to do this Nations race because... I won!

I qualified with 1:53.9, starting 2nd. A last second decision whether to no-stop on hards or run 7M/8H. I chose the former without knowing whether I could make them last so my utmost priority was taking care of tyres.

1st and 3rd ran stop strategies and both pit on L8. A lone race from that point although 2nd was gradually closing the gap from 8 to 4s but fortunately I was able to hold on and make tyres last with fronts half red by the end. First win at DR A using a wheel so overall pleased.

Looking like an unpopular opinion that it was a fun car to drive. The last GT game I played was GT2, and I remember often driving Skylines. A nice throwback to those days when I knew nothing about tuning and slapped whatever on I thought made them go faster.

I'm getting fed up of you beating me with your alternate strategies! And clearly we were in that split because we're both amazing at the game. Right?

I was just relieved Tidgneys stream wouldn't have shown me missing the T1 brake point and nearly sending you to Narnia  (thanks once again for spotting the incoming pleb and keeping the hell out of the way)

Same happened to me a couple of rounds ago... blew out the G29 pedal and made sure I was pressing it harder for the next couple of races, it seemed ok. I wonder if it was a calibration issue, and resolved itself in later races. It's a bummer but helps to know in hindsight what was feeling weird, and that it wasn't your imagination.

Yeah I’m using a g29 at the moment. Felt very weird to suddenly feel like I needed to stomp to brake. I’ll take a look at it after work today.

Funny enough I had just put in a Fanatec order yesterday morning with the main selling point for me the load cell brakes. Although, I’ll be lucky to see them by October.

Too tired to race today, so I took a nap.

... to wake up hearing that a lot of people were 1 stopping this race.

I have to be missing something here.. :( I remember testing 1 stop and finishing almost 10 seconds slower than 2 stop. Something isn't right.

PURE DISAPPOINTMENT!

FIA Nations Cup Round 25 - R32 Spec-11 at Autopolis

Really did my homework for this one, and had a great feeling about it. Practiced, put in a pretty respectable lap time (still #57 after two races have already been completed, on the leaderboard), and felt like a top 5 was a real good expectation.

Drew #3 DR rank in my lobby (behind @afc5150) but no problem, stick to the plan of the 2-stop MMH strategy and take home the FIA points, right?

Qualified decent, started in 5th, probably left a little on the table but wanted to be sure to get a solid one in before the chaos started. Meant I'd be on the inside line at the start, too.

Certainly no problem hooking up those slicks at the start, or on the turn exits.

Made it through the first turn clean, and tried to start hitting the marks. Did so... over and over and reliably, clean, no offs... made my first stop, avoided the wall at that tricky pit-in (it was close, I think I scraped it a little!) ...all was on target. Even let a guy or two through, knowing that it would be better to play the long game if we got bunched up at all, before the pit cycles were over.

Climbed up to 3rd by the end of that stint, with two laps to go... mind wanders a bit: "can I get a podium out of this?". Made my second stop from that 3rd position, with a lap to go, and braced as I looked in my rearview to see where I was gonna blend in. But expected to be 5th or so...

TENTH!?!? Really? WTH? Limped home without incident, hoping the cluster of cars sliding around on bad tires would clear a path for me (they didn't) and took the checkers, shocked. Never had an off, was held up a little early in the middle stint, but everything was according to Hoyle but the result. Took my useless FIA points and threw them on the scrap tire pile on my way to the hauler. Left with a few less DR than I started with, too, to add insult to injury.

As disappointing a result as I've had in a while, and not for any drama. Scratching my head, really. I'd be curious what the people that finished ahead did, but I won't watch the whole replay. I'm assuming quite a few no-stopped it.

Got a good clean start, though it looked like no one behind me did, if I saw correctly in my mirror.

I did no-stop it in my alt-account race, and finished 2nd to a A/B borderline driver with the same K' speed score (who I think one-stopped it). I don't know, maybe it was just a fast lobby in my 'real' race. Bummed.

Q5 / R10 / #2 useless FIA points and a little DR hit

Too tired to race today, so I took a nap.

Yep.

Ha ha ha so funny! Mario meets the boss!
:)
Good one!

I've driven against him a few times, he's one of those who absolutely has to have track position here and now no matter how much time fighting costs you both, he has to be ahead. As you saw in that stream - he defends in the same way!

I let him go past in one race because of how much time it was costing us (and also hoping he'd cause some trouble up ahead). As it turned out I'd been dragging him along and it took me four laps to get back past with his 'robust' defending

I let him go past in one race because of how much time it was costing us

I let a couple guys go in my race today because they were all over the track trying to get past all crazy.
In the end I caught them out by penalties and their own mistakes.
I basically didn’t practice, I know the track...I know many impatient players will suffer, I was the tortoise beating the hare today and I can’t lie it felt good!
Certain players can’t grasp that it is going to be much faster sometimes to build trust in the guy ahead and follow rather than being dumb and forcing the guy ahead to fight. Took advantage of 4-6 car packs several times in the race today. Cars off pens. Drivers can be their own worst enemies, you’re right.

Well, slot 2 proved to be a much better affair for me. I KNEW I had the pace!

A/S lobby and door 11 this time around. Qualified 9th (again). Made it through T1 safely this time. A couple of known 'questionable' drivers ahead set out to take each other out, which they did. The other 4 positions all came on outright pace and being very quick through the tricky bridge section towards the end of the lap.

Ran a strategy of 11M and 4H and it worked well for me. On the podium with 162 points for a season high haul. CRB and over 900 DR to push me over 36K for the first time in some time.

Not bad for a combo I was kind of dreading. Is my mojo back?
