Just a selection from our friend....there was more, I just lost patience editing

See, those guys have more pateince than me. It would have only taken one of those bumps for me to shadow realm him the next time I was near. I like to win but I like to race more and I cannot deal with someone trying ruin the moment.

I have thought about using a police car livery multiple times but figured it wouldn't help my cause any....

thinking if i will do the Nations Cup this weekend. if i do then i will use the livery i made this evening. Simple design based on a Dutch Hotel chain:

Lesson here for checking replays before calling someone out in the chat. I thought you hit me, at sheene I think and was pissed for most of the race. Especially with you coming in 2nd and crazy boy doing his thing. Thought about throwing some chat out at the end but kept myself in check and reviewed the replay afterwards. What actually happened was I turned into you! I was slow because of a mistake on the previous corner and you rightfully took the inside since you had the speed and a gap opened up. Contact was my fault and I'm glad I kept my mouth shut!!! The above pic (me in the TT) was just before it happened.

Ahh my bad, actually thought that before thinking back, when I raced you at Fuji. At the end of the race your DR rank doesn't show and your SR shows E. That's what threw me.
I felt the contact and I was afraid I’d get a penalty, when I didn’t I started feeling bad because it did feel kinda dirty but like you said the line was open and you had made a mistake, I tried flashing my lights to let you know I was coming but we still touched, I honestly had nowhere else to go at that point.

So, Heavy Wets it is then for Gr.3 @ Spa?

I haven't done any runs yet, but if it's raining, not just wet, I think wets will be the way to go for most drivers. I've only done a truly wet race in the Super GT career mode race @ RBR. Still can't get the win, but found at least for those cars, the wets work the best. And a GT500 car produces much more downforce than a Gr. 3 car.

Door 16, Q17, finished 16th, went off turn 1 lap 1 on Hards, switched to mediums Lap 2, then lap 6 to softs and never saw another car the entire race.

A grass pixel spun me twice. Strong grass at Brands Hatch.

3 rage quits and 1 tire penalty gained me 4 spots. Including the pole sitter who rage quit.

75 points, 1 and done as usual.
My results were almost the same and I got 9 points (Lucky I don't worry about my points tally much).
In better news my SR rating that had dropped from S to B thanks to Daily race C, went back up to an A (did I get the entire Alphabet in there :)) after Brands Hatch :)

Oh, concerning my livery on the Scirroco..... VW Gulf!

Missed this post earlier... but yeah: I like that explanation. Strong grass! holy moly it's so easy to lose it if you just drop part of a tire on the exit at Sheene. I had no idea what happened til I saw my replay, I didn't expect to loop it all. Amateur mistake but as unforgiving a track edge as there is in the game, for sure. I assume it must be like that in real life, and I assume that means the proper folk that spend their weekends at Brands Hatch are real tough SOB's. Because it takes a pair to flirt with that every lap if the consequences are a bit worse than a few FIAGTC points when you cross that line.

Gave Brands two tries. First one had a curb glitch and two bogus penalties combo!

Second attempt was probably the best result that was possible for this car. I had the same tire wear as the Scirocco and the Viper was able to do 16 laps on the softs. Balanced!

Man the Scirocco likes to spin its wheels, it's going to be interesting seeing how an entire field of them manages around Suzuka since there are so many corners there that require patience on the throttle. I decided to re-create the GT6 15th Anniversary Scirocco for this race, with some added decals and a stripe to break up the blue on the side. I just wish I could recreate the fade/semi-transparent effect of the 15 Stripes.

And man, Spa feels like an ice skating rink with how wet the surface is. I watched the top replay time and they were pretty much drifting through most of the corners. This is going to be an interesting race... At least the scenery is beautiful!

Not much of a photo taker or livery maker, as I usually just silver chrome a car, but being a VW, I had some ideas. Went the route of one of my favorite racing drivers, Marco Wittmann's 2010 F3 car. Would've preferred the VW logo to sit off the front fenders, but that pesky number would cover half of it.

I tried some running at Spa with W and IM. W for me. Also TCS 2, TCS 5. TCS 0. Not about setting a time, but seeing how throttle application changes the behavior of the car.

On W, I spun out short shifting up to 4th. Too much torque and the car was unrecoverable. Big Lex did good at the last wet Spa event. It's all going to be about smoothness for me.

VW Gulf!!
Seriously, this car is really fun to drive. After doing some laps with it for the next Nats. Cup race and doing some daily races with it, I am now a convert. If I could switch manufacturers now, I would go straight to VW. It does take a while to get used to and all I can say is that TCS is your friend.
It is easy to drive and get out of trouble.

So much throttle control will be needed to not have the Mediums wear out so fast. I tried a practice race, and I took my time applying the throttle out of turns. This did slow my pace a bit, but it helped me go 8 laps on the Mediums before switching to Hards.

Especially with 6x tyre wear. I got about 5/6 laps on the mediums before they started to feel iffy. I'm wondering if it's worth doing a 2 stop strategy, 6 laps on each set of mediums and 1 stop on the hards. I tend to err on the side of caution with tracks like Suzuka and Brands hatch, as any mistakes are punished hard.

It could be possible to do, but if you're bunched up in traffic and slow each other down, thus extending tire life, it could make 1 stop look more appealing. My problem with 2 stop is that if you can't make progress because cars ahead aren't letting you pass them, it could backfire on you when you make the second pit stop.

I need to stop. This is senseless. The very thing I dislike about FP and it's addicting. I nearly smashed my controller on the floor after I set this time. My optimum was a 2:06.224! I didn't mind my speed into the final chicane and used 2nd gear instead of 3rd. Lost all that time. Playing GTA V to calm down.

True. I might see how the opening laps pan out, and due to the grid start I may even start on the hards. The opening laps are always nervy though so I’m not sure if I want to make it even harder for myself.

If I get punted at turn 1 I’ll probably go for 2 stop. I also switched the brake balance to +5 to preserve the front tyres and I managed to find a bit more speed at the same time.

edit: managed to get my best free practice lap time down to 2.07.5. Pretty happy with that as it’s only 2.25 second off the top time.

Just leave yourself a couple of options for the race and a window of at least a couple of laps to make your pit stop - whatever tyres you start on. Always best to have a little bit of flexibility in your strategy so you can react to what's going on around you, or try something different (or stupid, like take off the hards on L4 and run nine laps on mediums!)

Do you think I could no-stop on Hards for the next Nations Cup race?

You could but judging from my limited running with both tyres you'll be very slow

I'm thinking about it.

The problem with the 'optimum' strategies is that it doesn't consider that when you start, you are likely either going to be held up by a) someone who is starting on H's anyway, and therefore, until you can pass them, you lose the time gap between the tires anyway, for each lap that is the case and b) most of us A and under drivers probably aren't getting full performance potential benefit with the softer tires every lap.

So the math says to me: 13 laps race, 11 sec pitstop, only 6-8 laps potential on M's, you have to be almost 2 sec a lap quicker on M's to realize a any gain. And then hope that you don't come out behind someone on a no-stop strategy or who has put on H's in the second half of the race.

And in a FF car with a premium on tire wear... well, I'm decided on it.

My thoughts are to start on Hards (unless starting top 4) and then get in the way as much as possible slowing the medium runners down, pit after 5 laps and jump as many people as possible when they pit later on

You don't fool me. We both know you'll be no stopping.

TCS default for fwd cars with power is the way to go imo. AWD same.
When I was learning the Megane at Bathurst TCS 3 was faster than everything else.
The FIA at Autopolis I ran tcs3 (wheel) and did quite well almost had fastest lap.
Tcs mitigates wheelspin which causes tire wear.
The minis at I think blue moon infield a while back tcs made them faster too.

Nooooo not this one! Hard tyres will be terrible for the last couple of laps if you run the whole race on them. I'm planning on a similar strategy to you (depending where I qualify). Start hards, hold people up, look to get rid of them early then run to the end

So what's your suggestion? Maybe 8H/5M?

All depends on how long you can run the medium tyre at a faster pace than you can manage on fresh hards. Personally, if I start on mediums I'll look to switch L7 or L8, if I start on hards I'll try to switch anywhere between L3-L5. L3 might be a bit of a push!
