How long until the first Oceana Race?

With Oceania starting their Nations race soon, all I can say is:

Nope, they are set to higher than normal though. We just did some testing, here’s a preview of what tomorrow night will bring.

After watching quite a few of those races, it seems like it is possible to get through the banked turns without a NASCAR-esque "The Big One" everytime, so that kind of gives me some hope. Also, it seems like everyone was going full-speed into each other when bump drafting and not getting penalties, so does this mean we should be good for the race? Or do we need to wait for the guinea pi- I mean, the Asia/Oceania players to report back their results on what gives SR downs?

A couple of things I learned in the 458 at SSRX. It can’t pull 7th Gear without a draft or down the bridge. 253 mph or less, stay in 6th gear.
Try and stay back about a second from the lead pack on lap 2. Don’t attempt a pass for the lead until you enter the tunnel, or later. Anything before that you’ll get drafted past again with little or no time to recover.

The Corvette feels good at RedBull Ring. Not sure about strategy yet, but happy to be within 1 second of Kie25’s lap times.

The first slot kicks off about 2 am EST. I will stream my slot at 8:40 NZST/ 4:40 EST provided I am home to get on in time. Currently about 17K after my reset so good idea to understand it will most likely be carnage in my lobby anyway.

Can also check if @Lion-Face or @CapraKiwi are streaming it. I dont know if any of the Aussies are streaming

Actually just in general I was interested who might be streaming FIA across Oceania and Asia as I often would like to look at the earlier slots I’m not participating in - typically go for the 3rd and 4th slot.

I do have a twitch (pringalinga) and I’ll let you know which slots I end up in later for those who want a look but note I’m not really an active streamer (but maybe given this type of race I’ll mike up )

edit: forgot to mention I’m currently in C - should make the carnage more interesting?

That sounds more like it!

On another note, with such a a short race they should have made it a 3 race slot, average out finishes. Random draw spots for starting. Now that is a wild card round.

Why I am running the black 458.

Here we go.

Well, might hit the pause button if someone tries to bump draft.

Well antics in qualy. A green Huayra mixed up with me and an R34 in the banking. I get tapped. Recover after launching backwards and a train of 458s catch up. A red one decided to take one out and in the process takes itself and a few more. Me and another 458 keep going. It wants to team up, but I just want to see speed versus the 458. It's dead even. Side by side I pull just a bit

Whole field gained SR despite two huge crashes and people getting pushed into the pitlane entrance... think I will pass.

Yeah just watched a NZ stream and didn't see any SR notifications at all, or any penalties despite a couple of pile ups. Whole lobby had blue SR at the end.

So bump drafting is on. As are some other maneuvers.....

One and done. Not really exciting. Tried to do a Skyline train, but too much swaying by other cars. Didn't realise I had HUD on. was too busy wondering who was going to swipe right on me. Turned it off on the way back.

There should have been a turn off thru the docks, across the half-pipe, under water, emerge the other side before the the tunnel and carry on.

I think this is the highest points of any non-Superstars race this season, pretty daft.

How ridiculous is this. Running a lap just to see if the car is half stable and I notice that by the end of the back straight my right front tire has gone cold? Blue outline! Good grief. Oh well. Ready for chaos.

Hey, my race was a pretty exciting race at least. Did manage to slip through 2 big wrecks, but again just caught out by the wrong tap somewhere. Might even have been me drifting lanes, but not sure.
I know at one point I had 10 cars including me on the radar I think as there were plenty ahead and behind and we were 5 wide.

Edit: had a look at the replay. Someone just wobbled and started pinballing back and forth wiping a bunch of us out. Glad I didnt have anything on the line.

On the plus side my SR is fine. I was just going to try like hell to win for a laugh as I would have needed well over 80 to add to my score and it was 79 to win.

Having this is as a nations race is just dumb.

You only get 9 minutes of racing in a half hour window

It skews the championship points system with a high-points one-off race which is a complete lottery

There's no penalties for dirty driving, so the sportsmanship for literally every single participant increases, making the sportsmanship rating even less able to discern between the clean drivers from the dirty ones

If you enjoy this car/ track, you only get 45 minutes of racing to enjoy it.

Its a 50 minute wait to attempt the race again due to the exceptionally short race time.

It only takes one person not to care for the race to unfold.

Had to give this race a go. Annoyingly didn't get released from the pits until everyone else had gone so had no draft for qualifying. Started 19th out of 19, 9 seconds behind 18th!!

Kept it nice and steady, navigated through a turn 1 accident on lap 2 and was in the leading pack of 9 cars sitting in 5th on the final turn looking good for a surprise win and then someone lost it up high on the bank and took me and a couple of others out! Finished 11th. May go again in the last slot

It's a fun race, but pretty stupid that it counts towards anything
