One and done. Door#20, q13. First lap I hit the COD, not much but enough to stop me then the train spun me and I was p18. I started on hards so it was somewhat expected that I would lose spots.
Pitted end lap 1 for mediums, then started reeling in people. Pitted L9 as p10 for softs, came out p14. Passed a lot of people, pitted for second stint of softs at L16, was p4 for while but missed my braking point in T1 L22 so was p5, but the guy Infront had to put, and p3 soul in the hairpin/T3 so I was p3 for the last lap.

I netted 1200 DR Bucks too

Go "Team Chevrolet"!

Try the McLaren's, they’re really nice to drive right now. :)

You're right, I had a great race in the Gr3 at RBR.

By "ok with rotation," do you mean "easy to rotate" or "doesn't try to kill me when I try to make it rotate"? Because the FR cars are mostly the latter, not the former.

That being said, yes, come join Team Chevy!

Haha, yeah trying to avoid the more sensitive cars for a bit, I enjoy the feel but not the fragility. I joined Chevy today and had a great first race, love the feel, very stable and hard to spin and I will deal with the understeer when I get to ... er every Japanese course!

Manufacturer Round 1
And so begins the trials and tribulations of a little Mitsubishi in a sea of Aston Martins and Dodge Vipers. My god, I NEED MORE POWER.

I think this must be one of the toughest races I've competed in to date. Partially due to the race length, but also due to the nature of the circuit and the sheer number of power-oriented manufacturers I was put up against. I qualified in P6 with a 1:37.500 and started on the Mediums. The Viper that started on pole position is someone who's normally around 45k DR but recently had a DR reset, so maaaaybe a tiny bit unfair being in a lobby where the average is probably about 29k! :odd:

I'd practiced going long for a 11M/1H/11S 2-stop, and also a 6M/1H/8S/8S 3-stop and found both came out to almost identical times for me, so I figured I at least had options. I ended up going long!

The race started with a bit of a scare as I had a wobble coming out of the first chicane, but thankfully I managed to save it. Dealing with the reduced downforce was rough, as I hadn't really practiced that much. An Aston Martin on Softs completely outgunned me down the main straight at the start of lap 2, but was carrying a penalty so he fell back behind... until he got past me going into the final hairpin. I fell out of his dirty air during lap 4 (thank god), but another Aston Martin who'd started on Mediums in P11 was gaining on me.

He passed me into the seafront hairpin on lap 6, putting me right back into dirty air again. However, he was burning through his tyres and fuel much faster than me as he was revving it out and I was shortshifting. We battled for a few laps after that, with me managing to briefly get in front on lap 9 after he had a poor Chicane of Death, but then he absolutely shredded me down the main straight. I decided to pit 1 lap earlier just to get away from him, as I felt like I was losing a lot of pace.

A Mercedes (coincidentally, the Austrian I was battling with during the first half of Wednesday's Nations race) was staring down my exhaust as I came out of the pits, and got past me right before the first hairpin. At the start of lap 12, the Aston Martin I'd been battling with had just emerged from the pits on Softs and was immediately fighting with the Mercedes. I had no intention of getting involved with that on Hards, so I just stayed back in P7 and let them at it. I just wanted to survive my Hard stint and get onto the Softs. The double slipstream though, my god. Where's the grip?!

I pit at the end of lap 12 with 50% fuel left, so the fuel saving was comfortably on target. On go the Softs, and now it's a run to the end as I come out in a nice gap. There was a Lexus charging down the straight who got within ~1.5-2.0 seconds, but he was on Hards so he quickly fell back. I caught up with the Mercedes and Aston Martin at the end of lap 15, but the Mercedes pit. At that point I realised I was no longer competing with him because he only had 21% fuel left going in and emerged on Hards, so up to P6! I was now in a comfortable gap, with the Aston Martin 2 seconds in front and a 7.5 second gap behind.

I start reeling the Aston Martin in on his worn Softs, before passing him on lap 17 after he had a very poor Chicane of Death, hitting the corner on the right side of the exit quite hard and getting damage from it. Up to P5! From there it was pretty much a drive to the finish, nursing the Softs as much as possible to make them last. P4 was almost 18 seconds up the road from me (although with a pit stop still to make), and the Aston Martin couldn't keep pace with me anymore. Not to mention, he still had refuelling and a Hard stint ahead of him. Once he pit at the end of lap 19, there were over 11 seconds between us.

The fuel saving worked out as planned, and the tyres were... a bit dead when I finished.

I got a very nice surprise on the line too. The Porsche who started P3 and won the race hadn't met the tyre requirements, so I was promoted up to P4. I'll happily take my 127 points and run, no more of that thanks! Here's hoping that's a very strong haul in the Mitsubishi ladder.

Manufacturer's Cup rd.1

1st round after signing with Dodge, realised that on Softs it's very understeery due to the rear having a lot of grip and pushing hard under acceleration.

Practice race on Thursday, had a good one but messed it up in the chicane si that was my first priority.

Very good quali lap - put a 36.4 and got the Pole in front of an AMG and two Astons. Started on Softs, did a decent first stint and kept my P1 until I pitted. 2nd stint was not that good, managed to lose a 3s lead and finish it in P3. Pitted for Hards in lap14 and a spalsh of fuel, then again in lap15 for Mediums. Got out in P5, about 14s from the first 2 cars so I knew my pace was not good. From lap 17 until 21 had a close clean fight with an Austrian in a grey Lexus changing positions several times. In the end, he got in front(being on Softs) and started to pull away - but he pitted lap22 to change Hards so I got P3. 170 points - good enough for the first race, not gonna risk the chicane again.

For you experienced racers just ignore below because it will seem like an idiot is talking and . . . I am . . .

Opened an EMEA alternate account to run this season at a respectable time (NA servers in CET means FIRST race starts at 0000) and for the first Manufacturer's Race of this season on the EMEA servers I had a blast! Awesome racing in the SR B group! Don't laugh but I had several firsts for me including actually lapping two people and having the blue flag raised because I WAS THE FASTER DRIVER! Finished 9th with a clean race bonus and 38 points for Toyota!

Bring on the GR.4 and Monza!

Śo what's the name of the alt account so I can send a FR?

Only had time for the final two slots today.

First one I was P6 on start and it held together well until I followed someone too closely through the CoD and he bumped the wall and I bumped him into the next wall. Bumper cars! 4 sec penalty there plus a big mistake later on landed me DFL, which I managed to salvage a P13 finish out of.

Second race I started P8 and picked up a totally BS penalty for being bumped from behind braking for a corner. I got "forced another car off track" when nobody went off and *I* was the one being bumped. That plus being pushed off track in the tight right hander after the esses made it hard to manage anything better than a P10 finish. At least I improved on my first race :P

Can't say I like this track very much.

I'm liking my chances at Monza much better though! At least we won't play bumper cars in the chicanes there.

Fk that circuit!!!!!!! I’d happily take being punted out of p1 at monza 1000times in a row than ever have to race another race on that god awful circuit.

If you have to bump me on every corner and then push to pass me from a country mile away, don’t rage quit when I decide your a knobber and your now on the outside through the death chicane and I’m really not in the mood to be backing off for ***** like you.

You wanna race hard, let’s go, but don’t quit out like a damn pussy when you get shown how to race hard properly.

Hope you lot have had better success than I

I absolutely love this track. I won! My 2nd FIA win ever and the first for Porsche.

Qualified P3 in a B/S lobby. Started on soft but everyone else at the front switched to hard or mediums at the first stop. So I was alone for the rest of the race and due to not having to battle anyone gained enough to secure the win.

Great week for me. Gained 5000 DR and on my way to an A rating hopefully (27.000 at the moment).

Did anyone experience the NA race server (1st race) for the D/S round 1 drop off around lap 19? Lost connectivity with the NA server but internet stayed up the entire time - bummer because I had a good 13th-14th-15th place finish going.

Edit: Apparently I was the one that ddropped off the PSN - I lost DR points and received 0 points for Citroën. Oh well there is always another race.

We're going to call this one and done on what I think is a successful return to Sport mode. Not much to report really.

Mixed lobby with 11 A/S and 9 B/S drivers. I had door #5, ran my qualifying alone and managed Q4, 4/10 off pole.

Made a pass on lap 1 to take third and ran there until the pit stops came into play. I ran 7S/7S/8M fuel/1H and actually led around 14 laps until the final lap as I came out of the pits with my hard tires, rejoining in third, where I finished.

Nice and clean, 1,100 DR and 137 points to start the season.

Not too keen on my Yokohama sponsored car running Michelins, though,

I was in there with you and got 4th. It was a good race overall. Slightly different strategy....7S/7S/1H..fuel/8M. At least it was pretty clean up front. I'm not sure about the back of the field. I haven't watched the replay yet. Came away with 130 points.

After my month long isolation in my cabin in the woods, qualy went about as expected - I couldn't seem to get in a clean lap and started P16.

Things went up from there pretty quickly though as soon as the green flag dropped, P15 did a hard right and ran himself headlong into a wall. Position gained!

I ended up doing a 4-stop as I was never all that great at tire saving to begin with and my practice races showed me that my extended break made me into the Goodyear serial killer. It turned out to be a good strategy as I finally started to find some consistency when the actual racing started. Granted, it was slow consistency but I'll take that over throwing myself into the sand every other lap any day of the week. Once I started my RS stints I started slowly creeping up the grid. I managed to get myself to P10 at the start of the final lap and was quite happy with that position. I managed to catch up to a trio that was battling through the last lap and watched them try to go three abreast into the chicane of death. That obviously didn't end well for any of them. I slipped through to finish P7 and earn a measly 34 points. (What can I say? I killed my DR trying to race from Egypt.)

I'm not tempting fate, I'm taking the P7 and running away for the night.

Slot 1
Whenever I start a new FIA season, there is usually some stupid shenanigans that happen to me. Since this Manufacturer Race is at Seaside, the shenanigans I anticipated was hitting the Chicane of Death in the race.

The shenanigans actually happened in Qualifying. I was under slipstream, and binned it coming out of the first chicane. Welp, going to start over and try again... Only to see that I qualified by myself and started 19th! Yay!

I went with HMSS tire strategy. On my Medium stint, I was a bit flustered, so I ended up in a long battle with a Supra. Eventually got away from him, and eventually caught up to the mid pack, slowly clawing my way back up. Luckily, I was able to catch up to a group of mid-pack cars at the very end, and was able to pick up one more position at the very end, finishing in 12th place!

Worst start? Close. Worst race? No. I had some good moments, and I made some good progress in this race, so not all was lost.
Best thing ever was that I did NOT hit the Chicane of Death! Also, vibing to this song really helped me keep my cool.

Well, that went better than expected. Ended up Door #5 in a 203 point room with @Jwptexas and a few other drivers I've raced against regularly, and after getting horrible laps I managed to qualify 9th on the final flying lap (I was down in 20th beforehand). Went for the three stop, gained 2 places on the first chicane as two people ahead get it all wrong, get run off the track coming out of the final hairpin on Lap 1 by a completely oblivious driver, have a few defensive battles, finished in P7 for 152 points. A little peeved the guy who ran me and some other people off the road by going wide got 3rd thanks to a 4 stop strategy, but whatever. They proved the 4 stop is viable though.

Not the best result, but given how bad eye-strain has been on me lately due to all my classes and homeworks being online, I can settle for that. The Viper is just a joy to fling through the Chicane of Death because it just so willingly rotates off-throttle/under light braking, even if I was coming in completely wide for the second half of the CoD, I just needed to dab the brakes a bit and correct myself.

Only had to race once today, thankfully.

Qualified 3rd despite not being able to catch a draft. Things went well for the most part other than a greedy Corvette driver that pushed me out of the way on the first chicane on the first lap. And of course, the penalty system didn't do what it was supposed to. Annoyed, I stayed close behind them until lap 7, when I pitted for another set of Soft tires. The Corvette pitted on lap 8 for Hards. We didn't encounter each other again. However, once the race was over, I noticed they were DNF on the results screen. So I looked at the replay and they spun out on lap 13 (as well as hit the barrier on the first hairpin two laps prior) and rage quit shortly after, so karma was served.

full

Did a three stop. Unfortunately, a victory was impossible. The winner of the race was in a McLaren 650S. They qualified 2nd, but passed the Viper that was on pole on lap 2, and eventually became completely out of reach. They won by about 12 seconds.

In case anyone has been struggling this round (seems like a lot of us, me included) here is my blistering start. And this was my GOOD race.:scared:

And apologies to shifty there. They've always been good to race and I give them an SR down even before the line.

I was also on that corner in the Corvette at my start however having been caught out before doing the same thing, I took it very quietly and had the power once I had straightened up to keep the others behind.

Slot 1: Once again I found myself racing against people who were way out of my league (like @Pigems) for the first slot. My car was assigned #20 at 50k DR. I qualified an expected 18th, which meant I found myself in the exact same situation as @Redneckchef above. Knowing what was coming, I immediately shifted up to 2nd and held a slight drift to the exit of the final corner and actually kept the car in front pretty close. Once again I mostly picked up places through penalties and misfortunes of people in front of me. I started on Hards and did a 3-stop 1H/8M/7S/7S with a splash to refill the tank on my first stop since I was already at the back. I found myself in 11th after my final stop, and maybe had a chance to get 10th place, but had to start aggressively fuel saving the last few laps, and finished 11th having run out of fuel just as I crossed the line. I wasn't satisfied with 157 points so I decided to go again.

Slot 2: This time I got placed with more of my usual peers and qualified 5th, 0.2s off pole, with the first 18 positions separated by less than 1s. I opted to start on Mediums and managed to keep pace with most of the front runners on Softs in my first stint. Some of the people immediately behind me did 2 consecutive Soft stints, so they were able to undercut me when I went a bit longer on my Mediums, and I got stuck behind them after my first stop on Lap 8. I tried to use being held up as an opportunity to save fuel when I wasn't in a good position to pass. I found myself running 2nd in my 3rd stint before putting on Hards for the final lap. In spite of trying to save fuel I needed a fraction of a lap's worth and the game forced me to put fuel in. That meant I emerged from the pits in 4th behind someone who hadn't taken fuel (or maybe only took fuel and no tires) and someone else who must've used their Hards earlier in the race. I immediately got 3rd back at the first corner when they went wide, and finished there as the first Corvette, 16s behind the winner, even though I got the fastest lap that race. My podium was worth 211 points, so there was no need for me to go again.

In light of Chadwick Boseman's untimely death, I raced with this:

It was a disappointing start to the season for me, which is a strange thing to be saying for a race that went very well. But much like the final race of the previous season, the lobby I was in was a strange mix, consisting of a single S driver, an A driver, a small group of 3 or 4 B drivers (including myself), and everyone else was ranked D. So the points on offer were negligible, to say the least. I feel especially sorry for the S driver who had already accumulated 200+ points from their previous attempt, those would have been wiped by default. I guess there just weren’t enough people playing at that hour.
20200830084820.jpg

But it was good to be back in the driver’s seat of a GT3 car, and the combination of the long race length and two required tire types meant I was in my element. I qualified 3rd, but having started on mediums I fell to 5th by the top of the hill, and almost came off into the sand, just managing to hold my own against the aggression of the Ford GT behind me. That same aggression was their undoing; they attempted an overtake at the bottom of the hill heading into the Marina, but misjudged their brakes and missed the line, bouncing off my rear quarter panel into the barrier. By Lap 3 I was back in 3rd, and managed to defend my place against a Corvette for nearly 10 laps, moving up to 2nd by Lap 8. But I needed to pit for new rubber, and with the grip disappearing, I had to run wide at the base of the hill to wave the 911 behind me through.
20200830084802.jpg

I pitted for the change to Hards, and some of the required fuel, and ran another lap before coming back in for Softs and the rest of the fuel. By this stage I was in 7th but ready for Maximum Attack Mode - I was in 6th by the Marina on the Out Lap, and a few laps later the Ford GT from earlier hit the barrier on the chicane exit and waved me through. Up ahead the Corvette pitted, and I was in 4th on Lap 17. I ducked back into the pits for a new set of Softs and to check my fuel, and managed to get back out without losing a place. But there was a considerable time split between myself and another Aston Martin, about 12 seconds at that point. I managed to close the gap considerably; the 2nd placed Porsche pitted on the penultimate lap, which got my hopes up as I rounded the final turn. But it wasn’t to be - I finished 4th for 49 points, some 5 seconds behind 3rd. At least the front of my car was clean though

Evening all, due to my alcohol consumption last night and an extended afternoon nap I missed the 1st slot. Jumped into the 2nd and had my heart ripped out by the infamous penalty system! Was in a slightly lower ranked lobby than normal and didn't recognize virtually anybody. Qualified on pole with a PB after practice of 36,8. Spent most of the race in 1st nursing tires and fuel and got a bit complacent on my Medium stints allowing the Maclaran behind to catch up. Wasn't worried as I was finishing on softs and felt I had good pace when I actually kept concentration.

Then this happened last lap....

BS penalty robbed me of 1st. The slice of DR I'm guessing will bump me up a lobby so I'm not risking going in again on my main account. Still got a bitter taste in my mouth now and it's not last nights Stella.
