It's Monza and as usual it's better to be lucky than good.

My first attempt: Qualified in the upper half of the field but got nudged down to 12th. I'm usually pretty decent in Monza but couldn't found pace in the M4 at all. Letting others to lead me and pretty much only passing cars with penalties.

Finished 11th while @Bourdais1993 won. Cheers!

Go again and second attempt is qualified poor, race even worse and finished 16th.

I was in a lower lobby in my 3rd attempt and started 4th. I started 4th and a Ferrari and a Porsche keep battling in front of me in the first 3 laps.

I am up to second when the Ferrari probably missed breaking and hit the Porsche and gave him a 1 sec penalty! The gift keep on gifting as the 3rd to 5th pretty much going side by side at T1 until lap12!

The leader spun in the second last lap but I wasn't close enough to gain from it. Finished 2nd quite undeservedly as I reckon there are quite a few in lobby who has better pace then me but I will take it lol.

After running a practice race where @Pigems , @Jwptexas , and @CJam also joined in, I'm torn between no-stopping and one-stopping. The person who finished in second pitted from second and I believe was on the tail on the leader at the end of the race. For me, I felt like my pace started dropping considerably in the second half of the race, which may also just be down to not tire saving enough. I also made some mistakes due to the worn tires, so maybe now that I know the limits better I can go the whole way, but I feel like it may be like the Nations race on Wednesday where pitting may actually be the better option depending on where your position on track is. I hate ambiguity haha

Rod the Brazilian is fast, so is Newbar who I practice with on a regular basis. Newbar would have won except for a slight mistake which allowed Rod past and then he defended the lead superbly. Newbar did pit at lap 10, I did also because I noticed a drop in lap times around lap 12, also the Mustang is about 2 laps shy of making it. Short shifting slowed me down without saving enough fuel, I would have to pit regardless. I had a blast in that practice race, Thank you.

Nations Cup Round 2

Manufacturer Series Round 2
DO NOT DO THIS RACE AS MITSUBISHI IF YOU VALUE YOUR SANITY AND TIME.
Easily one of the least enjoyable FIA races I have ever had. I am very, very angry right now. I knew it was going to be hard because the Mitsubishi's straight line speed is poor, but I was not at all prepared for some of the underhanded dirty 🤬 I experienced.

It can barely overtake an Alfa Romeo on the straights, and literally cannot overtake anything more powerful unless someone's giving it a slipstream vs someone who doesn't have one. Even then it takes a long, long time. Still, that didn't stop people from deliberately squeezing me off the track for daring to get alongside them. I was completely at the mercy of whoever was around me and forced to drive at the speed of whoever is in front. If someone messed up in a way that left me a big enough gap to power past, they'd still slipstream right past me in short order anyway.

I got squeezed, punted and pushed all over the place. One of the worst two incidents came from a Mercedes who pushed me off the outside during the braking straight heading towards Ascari when we were side-by-side. It wasn't even during the first part of the chicane, it was before it.

The second came right before the end, and has some lead-up. I had been fighting with a Peugeot who was clearly struggling on his tyres. I could only briefly pass him at Parabolica as I was getting much better traction than he was. But he really, really didn't like that, squeezing me and tapping me everytime I did it. After a few laps of me having to avoid him sliding all over the place through the chicanes whilst trying to make a clean pass, I got a 2s penalty because I accidentally tapped him when he slid during the Lesmos, sending him off track.

He caught back up when I served the penalty, and got in front at Ascari. When I went to do the Parabolica move again he went to block the line I was taking, and got VERY aggressive when I managed to power up his inside. Cue tap, tap, tap into me getting a 1s penalty from him trying to squeeze me off followed by him smacking my rear-left wheel when I got past. I attempt to compensate but it put me into a full-blown spin so I lost more positions crashing into the wall.

End result P16, dropped down to 79/99 SR. I'm thankful it's not lower. To hell with this round. I'm done. :grumpy:

Manufacturers

Qualified in 7th 0.523 of pole position with a slipstream-less lap and me being rubbish in Qualifying left me quite happy.

Lap 1 and I managed to pass the Mercedes in 6th into T1 with the help of the slipstream and a Viper as they were punted by the dark blue TT. Second chicane and I tap a dark blue TT and get a run on them on the exit only for them to try and drive me into the grass only to get past anyway. Feeling a little bad for the nudge I let them past in the next straight into Ascari. I then got the run in them again out of Parabolica where they again tried to run me of the track only for me to get past anyway. They then span the second chicane anyway, Ha karma.

The race was quiet for me from then on as I got past the other red bull liveried TT ahead on lap 9 as they made the exact same mistake the other TT made in lap 2. I had a small battle for 2nd with a GT-R who pitted from the lead for second and a small incident with the Blue Red bull TT as they tried to around the outside of Ascari then at the first Lesmo as I got a poor exit but apologised after. From there I finished 3rd for 124 points.

Leaving it there with a 3rd at Monza with McLaren as I don't want to jinx anything. Fun race and am skipping the next two rounds because Tsukuba and Alsace don't look like fun for me.

One and done. Not because I got a lot of points, I didn't, but because I don't trust my fellow racers...
PS_Messages_20200905_171003.jpg

This photo is from halfway through. The player in p5 was ahead of me all the way to the final lap, I was never closer than .3 and then he got a track limit pen on last lap. So knowing I would pass he braked and swerved to get me off.
Now I was running TCS 1 so I stayed on. But the mentality of such a gamer doesn't belong on a race track.
So, now I am p5, it's the last lap and I got the player who on the picture is p9 right behind me.
No worries I think, I will defend through Ascari and then outrun to Parabolica. But no, he simply rams me up the inside mid way through Ascari, pushed me out of the way and since he went inside I got a 1 second penalty.
Clearly a gamer, not a racer.
Well, I made p6 att least, inspite of the bag of dicks.

Did first slot alongside @watto79 and @Lost Sheltie and - you are reading this correctly - had a load of fun! At Monza!!

It has to be said it wasn’t the same for everyone and a lot comes down to luck of the draw, it's very easy to be an innocent victim.

Qualy time was ok, and I started 10th. Got away and must have just shifted up too early because Sheltie had driven past me by the time we reached the braking zone for T1! We tip-toed in, as did almost everyone else but a Spaniard in a Ferrari had completely missed his braking, turned towards the inside and t-boned the guy who started 4th. A subsequent chain of events saw a couple of places gained, then penalties were served by others and as the race began to settle I was running 6th, with a gap developing from 3rd to 4th.

We had a few laps line astern, and we were actually starting to catch the leaders but what ensued, while taking away any chance of a podium, was a superb four way fight for 4th place between four different cars (Lambo, Lexus, Ferrari and McLaren) that was just brilliant to be a part of. Clean, respectful and very much on the limit. 4th and 5th were regularly swapping places and while I was generally quicker through Parabolica I couldn't get enough of a run as 5th always had a slipstream.

Into the second half of the race we closed right up as close as you can get four cars into Rettifilo, I was side by side with the McLaren on the run to Variante Roggia, knowing the driver he is I knew he'd be late on the brakes - too late, he ran wide, I cut back on the exit, we were side by side through Lesmo 1 and I cleared him through Lesmo 2. From there I set about chasing Sheltie in the Lexus, I had a massive speed advantage through Ascari at this point and I nailed it to close onto his bumper, took the inside into Parabolica (thought I may have made contact but on review I was nowhere near!) and he was very courteous! Then went after the Lambo whose tyres were really worn. Took a couple of laps to close the gap, then set up initally for a move down the main straight but he ran wide in Parabolica leaving us side by side all the way down to Rettifilo. Took the inside, overslowed the car to get a good exit then held on and edged away to the end of the race to take 4th

I feel for anyone who has had the bowling alley Monza experience today, I got lucky in missing that but my race was awesome! Loved it!

Four cars into Rettifilo at full racing speed with no contact? No problem!

Great race but really should have been an unexpected win!!

Qualified 6th and was amazingly into the lead by T1 on Lap 2. Stayed there, pulling out a 3 second gap until lap 11. 2nd place Lexus slowly caught up to me as my tires started to die. He then dived me and forced me into the gravel. Came back on in 3rd and pitted for new tires. Lap 15 i had caught back up and moved into 3rd only 3 seconds off the leader. 2nd place in a jag had gone for a no stop and was on dead tires, I went to pass him at the end of the straight going miles faster than he was and at the last second he purposely swerved in front to block me and I couldn’t avoid hitting him and got a 4 second penalty. (Turns out in the lobby after he had done the same to another driver). That ruined me getting a possible win but at least I finished ahead of him.

Thanks for the insight! I haven't had a chance to review the replay yet. Glad you had a good race! Always good to race with the people on here. Also, sorry for not mentioning you, I'm horrible at keeping track of usernames between this forum and the game :guilty:

Nations Cup Round 2
Food poisoning says no. Can't race whilst sitting on the toilet...

Not with that attitude ;) But sorry to hear you had a horrible experience with Manufacturers, that sucks.

I went for the second to last slot for the day, managed a P2 qualification time and I was on my way towards a P1 time but I messed it up by bumping a Porsche in T1. I keep forgetting how good their brakes are so even though I thought I gave him space it wasn't enough. He recovered though. Took a seat for the remainder of the quali session after that.

First couple of laps were OK, followed P1 no problem but then I made a couple of small mistakes dropping me down to P4. A Lexus started a draft-pass after going under the bridge on the back-straight and tried to outbrake me on the inside into Parabolica, so I braked slightly harder than him and went for the cut-back and got a clean run out on the S/F straight, but he tried to muscle me over to the pit wall. So I took an aggressive inside line into Rettifilo and reclaimed my position there.

After that I got into a big gap and focused on making sure my fuel was going to last the full distance. I was behind a bit on my strategy after the first six laps but by short-shifting tactically and fiddling with the engine mapping through de la Roggia and Lesmo I was back on track for fuel. I was never really worried about tyres, the Vette is surprisingly easy on them and it's easy to drive even on worn out tyres, but I was feeling it for the last two laps and had to take a lot of care there.

The guy who started on pole had made some mistakes too and went into the pits around lap 12 or so from P3, and by the time he caught up to me again I couldn't do anything to hold him behind me as he was running lighter and on fresh tyres, so I came in a comfortable P4 with 4 seconds up to P3 and a whopping 12 seconds down to P5.

Not going to go again because I hurt my knee earlier and I could feel it starting to cramp up a bit when I was driving, so chances are I'd be throwing my P4 finish away.

Interesting evening!
Slot 1 - disconnected before qualifying
Slot 2 - got punted on both hot laps in quali so started DFL, made my way up to 9th, eventually finished 11th.
Slot 3 - qualified 6th, nudged off on Lesmo 1 to end up in the midfield, running 11th on the last lap when someone in a Scirocco took umbrage at my existence and smashed both of us off at Ascari. Finished DFL.
Slot 4 - qualified 16th, got a 7 SECOND penalty at the first chicane for occupying space and time, and having someone reenter the track unghosted right into me. then managed to snap my wheel stand on the first lap! somehow finished 12th.

I'm done :-)

Manufacturer Rd 2 - Viper@Monza

Had a great result in our private league at Monza so my hopes were high here. My girlfriend was working so I had enough time to do several slots.

Slot1: Qualified P3 with a 57.3. Missed a bit the chicane at start which got the pack right on me. An Aston dived on the inside at Ascari and pushed me in the sand. P3 to P20 - also 3s behind P19. I managed to close the gap in 1 lap, overtook the Italian easy but he wiped me out completely in 2nd chicane(lap3). Again dead last and this time the gap to P19 was more than 10s. But it was a long race, expected to lose DR already - just hoped to limit the damage. Started to put clean laps, and caught up with the pack in lap8. Then I started picking them off. Was in P10 in lap 18, all over the Audi in PO - but got a 1s penalty in the chicane. P10 it is and gained 300 DR.

Slot1: Completely messed up the quali and started in P9. Got up two positions after cars in front got penalties and climbed to P6 after another went wide at lesmo2. Then it was a nice steady race until the end. I raced another Viper and an Aston and fought for P4, but got a 1s penalty in the 2nd chicane and had to settle for P6.

Slot3: Qualified P2 and as I knew the people in front and behind are clean - was really hopeful. The Austrian in pole, made a slight mistake at Ascari, was able to take the lead and then pushed and put lap after lap in the 58.0-58.2. His Lexus was faster on the straights, had a slight advantage in the first chicane, but me nailing the 2nd one almost always kept him at bay. In lap 15, the 2nd chicane bit me giving me 1s penalty and the Austrian took the lead. Also the pink Aston in P3 got my slipstream and went past me on the main straight. We started fighting for two laps, managed to overtake him in lap18 and then pushed, but the Austrian in the Lexus was 4s in front. Managed to recover about 7 tenths then he got a penalty in the same spot as me few laps earlier. Not enough to help me, finished in P2 - 1.2s behind. 179p - not a bad result.

Good race that could've been so much better. I qualified P2 without any slipstream, and for the first 6 laps or so the leader and I bump-drafted each other to get a gap to the people behind, only for me to get a track limits penalty. After I slowed down, into Ascari I got another one because I forgot which gear I was in (due to the slowdown) and accidentally shifted into 2nd, rotating the car into the rumblestrip area. So from there I was just managing 3rd, until on Lap 19 I spaced coming into T1 and missed my braking point, so I finished P4.

P2 probably would've been extremely difficult because the Corvette that took it was quick and consistent. P3 would've been a guarantee though had I not binned it :banghead: 171 points though, so I'll take it, I'm super tired rn so I'm not going to tempt my fate again. Somehow I got the fastest lap of the race though, so I got a consolation prize at least. The post-race chat was full of angry people so I'm assuming things weren't too clean behind me. I just really need to learn how to control the rotation of the Viper, because it wants to rotate so much and I know I can use it to my advantage if I can just work out how to brake for it.

Manufacturer North America slot 1, all A/S lobby

Door 12, Q7, P8, 116 points

The Good: Qualified 7th without much help, had a great turn 1 and 2 and found myself up to 4th for most of the first half of the race. Had a couple of great battles throughout the race, very respectful and fun! Got a clean race bonus and managed almost 400 DR up to ~33.5K

The Bad: Last 5 laps really sucked as I just ran out of tires and had to find half a lap of fuel. I dropped from 5th to 8th in those final laps. If I were to go again, I might consider a stop after 10 laps for tires and a tiny splash of fuel.

The Ugly: Heading into T1 on lap 20, while not even trying to make a pass, I manage to lose it and in trying to avoid 6th and 7th, I collect 6th giving him a 2 sec penalty and 7th makes contact with my sliding ghost and also gets a 2 second penalty. I could have passed them both as they served their penalties but I didn't, as I also flashed my lights furiously hoping they would recognize I wasn't being dirty, or even overly-ambitious, just made a huge mistake.

I got a little deserved heat in post race chat, where I made sure I apologized to both drivers. I feel terrible as they both had red S, although I can't be certain that was because of me.

Don't think I'll go again on my main, but may on my B/B alt.

Boring race but I started P4 and finished P2. I was very consistent (2:01) and stopped once for fuel. Did all the race with full power. The guy in front of me didn't stop and finished 40 seconds ahead lol. I'm in south america and my DR is D I guess.

I'm going to repeat myself and say that participating in these FIA races is something else. I love it. I even started streaming on twitch lol.

Edit: I see you guys doing different slots, I didn't know it was possible. Do you accumulate points??

Another question if I may. How are lobbies divided? By region and then DR?

Got into the second slot without any technical issues. :)

I qualified 10th. I did a no-stop and short shifted when going through the two right-handers after the second chicane on most laps.

At the start, I held my breath going into T1, and to my relief, there was no carnage. Gained two positions on lap 2, passing a Cayman and an SLS that went off at Ascari. On lap 5, I went up to 7th after a second SLS had to serve a 0.5 sec. penalty, and took 6th on the following lap when another Aston driver messed up on the second chicane.

From that point, I was pretty much driving alone, with no one in my draft to catch up to me and vice versa. Nothing happened again until lap 17, when a Corvette driver I was slowly gaining on served a 1 second penalty. I passed them, and then an NSX went off at Ascari and they rejoined the track ghosted. Not wanting to go through them, I tried to pass them on the outside but as soon as they unghosted, they bumped me off into the sand (hence my dirty car below) and I dropped down to 7th. Quite frustrating to say the least, since I could have potentially took 3rd if that didn't happen. But I managed to recover on the last few laps of the race.

I’m probably going to skip the next Manufacturer round and try to make it up later in the season. Don’t know what genius at PD or in the FIA thinks that Gr. 3 at a small, tight track like Tsukuba is a good idea.

Once again, Manufacturer's took 2 attempts to get a good result...

Slot 1:
Screwed up qualifying and started 11th. I nearly blew the first chicane on my first flying lap, tried to continue a 2nd flying lap afterwards, but caught people on their outlap, then was 0.6s up on my time on my final flying lap in the first sector alone before screwing up the 2nd chicane. Thanks to me screwing up my qualifying, I was stuck mid pack and got a nice punt into the first chicane. I had just passed a Cayman for 10th at the start thanks to its lack of straight line speed, then got nailed by a Viper and lost the spot back to the Cayman. Fortunately I didn't lose anymore spots after that, and I caught up to the pack in front of me relatively quickly and before long I was in 9th. Then going into the first chicane again, I braked slightly too late. I wasn't trying to overtake the car in front, but basically had to go for it since I braked later anyway. We went side by side through the chicane no problem, but because I couldn't get on the power as soon as I normally would, I again got punted into the gravel on the exit by the car behind us who was able to use the full racing line and carry more speed. That bumped me down to 11th AGAIN. Then I lost it completely on my own in the Lesmos trying to make up time. After that I just screwed around at the back until I got lapped 3 times and ran out of fuel before finally quitting. I didn't have the pace to catch @Pigems, but definitely should've been fighting for a Top 5.

Slot 2:
Qualified 5th, moved up to 3rd early in the race after some of the front-runners tangled at the Parabolica, and even led a couple laps before finally being passed by the eventual winner. I eventually fell to 4th after getting a 1.5 SECOND PENALTY for slightly cutting the entry (and only the entry) to Ascari. The Scirocco in 3rd pitted at halfway so I got that place back, and after that it was just a game of not making anymore mistakes. I was slowly reeling in 2nd place, while also being slowly caught by the Scirocco in 4th with their fresher tires. At the line I was less than 1s behind the 2nd place Jag, and 3.2s ahead of 4th place. It was my 2nd consecutive 3rd place in Manufacturer's, and the 2nd consecutive time that a stupid penalty screwed me out of 2nd place. The bright side is that it was still worth 204 points, and it also meant I was the highest-ranked of the 5(!!) Corvettes in the race.

Got into the second slot without any technical issues. :)
I was the Cayman in your race, congrats on being the fastest driver who didn't get a penalty. ;)

It was fairly boring race from my end just a flat out sprint with no fuel saving; except for that lap where you got collected on the exit of Ascari, I had a code brown weaving through you two. :o

Decided to make my comeback to FIA today after taking a break since the end of the official season (while doing another championship and some ACC). Went again with McLaren.

Entered slot 2. Got placed in a very high-rated lobby (2nd split I think? Maybe 3rd) worth 223 points for the win and with some A+ rated drivers. Shared lobby with @GTWolverine and @Geauxgreddy. I did a good lap in qualifying, 4 tenths off pole, but in such a competitive lobby, it was only good enough for P8. I made progress in the first laps, up to 4th I think, before the entry kerb to the second chicane weirdly sent me off the track. Took the same line as every other lap, not sure what happened. That put me in the middle of the battling pack and obviously got punted by a guy who had already crashed me intentionally a couple of times last season... :ouch: Recovered to P10 at the end, but decided to go again, as a top 5 was definitely possible in that race.

Slot 3, slightly lower rated lobby this time. Could have had pole, but made a mistake on my best lap and qualified P3. Clean start, immediately broke the slipstream to the cars behind, but also unfortunately lost it to the two leaders ahead.

I was able to lap in exactly the same laptimes as the two leaders, but not to catch them, while @sk1719 was slowly catching me in his Merc. Once he finally did, I didn't make it difficult for him to pass, as I was hoping he could tow me closer to the leaders, but I didn't manage to stay in the slipstream for long. In the final laps, I got a bit closer as @sk1719 and the other guy ahead were probably running out of tyres, but didn't manage to get close enough to make a move. Good race mate! 👍

P4 in the end, pretty satisfied with the result and the 182 points. :)

I completely missed all of my EMEA races due to family function so stayed up past midnight to run the first NA D/S race of the evening with my new "whale" and it was a very good race (after the first 20 seconds). Better qualifying than I wanted so Q7 it was.

I was on the inside line coming up to Prima Varienta, saw the mess as and slowed down to let some of the hot heads through (the ones that can win the race on the first turn, first lap of a 20 lap race). Punt from behind into the mess (1st SR down and 4 second penalty), life resumed and rolling up on Seconda Varienta with a Porsche ghosted out right at the first apex so against my better judgement I went through and was awarded my 2nd SR down and 4 second penalty. Oh joy, 8 seconds of penalties and you know where the first penalty line is - right at the start of Serragglio so that straightaway was a waste. First lap of many so said a couple choices words and reset the brain before Ascari.

The race from there a blast!

Racers missing braking points everywhere, enormous amount of aggressive drivers but I managed to carefully drive past and finish in 8th spot. Better race than what I read about on here. Very nervous with the horror stories on the forums and the "I am not racing that race this week" but overall it was Monza and a blast to run.

Good luck next week to all.
