DVD is far from obsolete; it actually has some advantages over blu-ray for console gaming. For instance, a hard drive is pretty much mandatory for a ps3 due to much slower seek times. Notice, most ps3 games have madatory installs to navigate around the slow blu-ray seek times. I'm getting ready to laydown but I'm sure you can score some good game developer blogs about blu-ray seek times.

Granted, I love my blu-ray player (my PS3). Going forward I do hope DVD gets fazed out from consoles but look forward to seeing more mandatory game installs unless they figure out how to eliminate the slower seeks

Do installs really matter that much anyway? Drives go dirt cheap nowadays.👍

I've played a good deal of online. It's rather a shame that in a game with barely 1,000 people online at any time you're forced to use matchmaking which more often then not puts you in your own game and when you finally get a game in the class you want, it's full of corner cutting crashers.

You must be on at like 4am. I have never seen the count that low. Early in the Forza 3 (and Forza 2 and 1) releases there were indeed plenty of crashers and smashers. Those get weeded out over time (just like in GT) and it's the core people like us still playing. That is who I usually encounter.

I am glad the rest of us are not experiencing what you are.

@fyrenice.

The only racing games you have are Forza.

You pretty much dislike everything with the game(s)?

You get kicked for beating people online (suggesting you must at least put some hours in to get proficient).

To sum up you seem to like playing games you dislike quite a lot.

A few things why i won't be able to play Forza4 ...
1. Wheel support, fanatec or microsoft is not really a choice.
2. XBOX live to get to play online is not so good either.
3. Physics, hopefully they have improved this, but since 1 and 2 won't change it does not really matter. :(

I stopped playing quite some time ago.

Also, I've been playing since FM1 with no assists, it didn't even take me a day to really understand the way the game feels and plays.

Can't wait! Forza3 was my first xbox game, it was the last too. Bought the xbox for that game, loved it! Really want F4!!

I'm trying not to think about FM4. It will make the time go by slower. lol. I'm just going to enjoy the great racing I have now. FM3, F1 2010 and Race Pro. Those 3 will hold me over till the fall and a fresh crop of great games come in from the farm.

I wish I could hack windows on my PS3. It should be a powerful enough machine to run PC racing games right?

He's not the only one experiencing crahsers and corner cutters almost all the time on every hopper in Forza3. Why do you think a lot of Forza Vets moved on to something else?

I sure hope T10 fix this Hopper nonsense that only attracts Casual&Arcade gamers.

Try creating a lobby for your friends. Much better.

That's the best you can come up with to enjoy Forza3 Online?
Not here to try and pick up a fight but anyone who spend 20 minutes in the Forza3 hoppers knows that there is nothing there about racing.

Maybe with Forza4, maybe this time it will be about racing.

Naaah, who'm I kidding, didn't the guy in the trailer talk about where KIDS play with their cars and Cat&Mouse games. Forza4 looks like it will be another NFS,PGR,BurnOut,Halo,Fifa game rather then a simulation. Good luck with that.

^ enlighten me then, tell me the best way to enjoy online.

I never said you could, I moved on - there are other sims you know, where the races are about racing, not NFS, Burnout,Fifa, Cat&mouse, Wreckers, corner cutters. Forza isn't the only car game in the world.

What I experience online in popular console racers like Forza and GT is the same. Usually decent racing without much of a problem (outside of turn 1 cluster****) but occasionally a Timmy comes out the wood work, cuts corners, wall rides, bumps n runs, etc. It's not specific to Forza. GT is as guilty of this as Forza is. When you want the likelihood chance of finding a clean race... that's more on PC since Timmy's tend not to flock to the PC.

Private lobbies = winning

Actually we haven't moved on to something else. Not sure what you are talking about. Us vets are still jammin on it.

Oh I just thought, this being the Forza section and all.

I only gave a suggestion and you say is that all you can come up with.

Nice guy :tup.

LOL

You are it??? You and how many thousands, or hundreds of Forza-Vets are you talking about I wonder. What is your Forza1 Clan-Tag/Car Club name again?

If a game like Forza3 doesn't set up any enforced rules other than winning whatever the cost, thats what people will do. So, yes this is a Big game issiue rather than end user issiue.

And again, we are in the Forza thread, NOT GT. What happens in GT Online is irrelevant here, even though GT5 has a very strong pro. You can setup your own room and in GT5 you don't have any Cat&mouse, Tag, Destruction derby, fusball gaming modes, BIG creds for the PD team for keeping GT5 as a simulation 👍👍👍

Yeah, in GT5 you just have a bunch of people in a regular room doing Cat$mouse, Tag, Destruction derby.......

The only gripe with FM3 is the inability to setup your own public room. Which, to be honest, wouldn't be a big thrill of mine anyway. But you CAN setup your own private room and race with friends. And that's ALOT of fun. Especially utilizing the Team feature in private rooms and the multi-class races feature also. That's some good racing right there.

I got GT5 a week before the N.A. release and my very FIRST race was pretty much a bunch of guys trying to wreck cars and doing all kinds of stuff EXCEPT racing.

You know what t.o, you are absolutely right. Why complain,Forza3 is just perfect and the hoppers are amazing. No complain = No change for the future Forza.
Why change when everyone is happy, just add more of the same old-same old.

I was just referring to Bogie19th statement that no one else had a bad experience in the hoppers when there is a ton of people who avoid the hoppers because of the wreckers, corner cutters, getting kicked because you have a high rank-low rank, you winn-you loose.

Still waiting for the answer ClanTag/Car Club name from the so called Forza Vet.

About Cat/mouse, in GT5. Just one question - does PD officially support such nonsense? NO.

So now we're bitching about how other people have fun?

Oh, wait a minute...that's not new. My bad.

And from that you got...

OK. So let me be perfectly clear, I say the inability to setup your own public room is bad and from that you get the idea that I think hoppers are amazing?
I'm not being funny here but if that's what you got from my statement then your reading comprehension is severely hampered.

In any case I'm glad they have all those different online modes. The more people there the less in regular lobbies where people just want to race regularly. They may indeed be fun. I've NEVER, not once raced anything other straight racing. I know the option is there but my 360 never hit me over the head and said I must play them. Those options are... OPTIONS as in you never have to see it nor play it. Why people get upset at options just blows my mind.

Is FZ4 using laser scan technology? If they are, i remember thats what the PGR team did with their cars and that was the first time ever for renderig a cockpit in a video game console, it looked stunning. I can only hope this time around, it will look even better with today's hardware and graphics. I know PD takes tons and tons of digital pictures of the cars, premium only, so id assume detail wise will be better but with laser scanning technology only getting better, i can assume it will top GT5 this time around, if not on cars maybe on tracks? I guess only time will tell us.

If those look like clay, I want my real life car to look like clay, lol.

Fm3 used laser scanning on the interiors of cars from memory....I know they used it on the exteriors of alot

~~EDIT~~

They did. Check out this pre release forza 2 video. showing the laser scanning of a veyron inside and outside.

One things is for sure Forza is already crowned king of racers by all Gamingsites so it's fair too say Forza 4 will put GT5 too shame and than some.
