Quick update:

Finished season 2 on a high with 7th in Brazil ending my season on 13 points. STR offered to renew my contract but i said no i hope of a better offer. And by heck did i get it! Mclaren gave me a trial, i passed, got the test driver seat, and just before Monaco JPM buggered off to nascar* and left me to take the 2nd race seat.:D I then came 6th at Monaco getting my Mclaren racing carer off to a good start.

*Didnt actually happen. I just did good in testing.

Good read Ashley, I'm going to do some laps to get used to my Wheel before delving into Careers.

About 280 miles done now in various countries.

Good game.

What difficulty level are you using?

Im using hard.

Just had twists of bad luck now, Silverstone, qualified 6th, got hit by Alonso in turn 3 and retired, Canada, qualified 6th, running 2nd, 7th coming out of the pits, slipped on oil and hit the car whos engine had blown...That is bad luck.

bw im on over 4 thousand miles:D

I started at Super Aguri for my first season, I drived many test drivings and I got at Hungary first seat. I raced 6 times and I finished 2 races (end of the season). I started 22nd in Italy (Monza) ,I finished 10th that race and Super Aguri's e-mail said to me "clinical race" :) I got trying drivings BMW and Ferrari, I failed that drivings :( I'm in 2nd season and I'm still at Super Aguri team :( But I will race superb this season...

Do you use a wheel?

Nah, good ole DS2.

Im now up to Germany with Mclaren, still second driver and yes, finally, at Magny Cours, France, i won a race! My maiden F1 victory. Heres how it happened.

I qualified 6th on the grid, but was confident for a good finish, possibly even a podium. The lights went out an i hit the throttle, into turn 1 we went, i moved up 2 to 4th as we headed into the hairpin, i slipstreamed MS and took him under braking and then managed to outpower Fisichella away from the hairpin, it stayed this way till lap 4, when i finally managed to take Barrichellogoing down to the second last turn, Alonso was just out of reach, around 3 seconds ahead and not budging. The pitstops came round (i pitted on lap 10) and a nice fast stop saw me back out in 5th behind Ralf, over the next few laps the rest would pit in, including Alonso, and after some great laps after my stop i had closed right up when he came out the pits, lap 13 and i was only 1.5 seconds behind him. While he was getting his tyres up to temperature i could take advantage and made a move into the hairpin outbraking him an getting on the power early to take the lead. it stayed like this for the rest of the race and the gap opened up to around 4 seconds and i finished 1st to take my first win and 10 points for Mclaren:D

How long race distances are you doing? 20% judging on timing of pit stops. Maybe 30%.

Got any tip for race starts? Including settings like Traction Control, stability control, etc?

I think Imola has the fastest 'slow' corner of the 18, right?

I'm normally 2nd at mid-high revs for the first hairpin.

yeah 30%:D For my race starts i have traction control on 2, and i normally get a good start, 4 or 5 places i move up sometimes.

Done a GP weekend at Montreal in Webbers Williams.

Really good fun, skipped the second Friday Practice and had the race at 30% (21 laps)

Qualified on pole. Got a good start leading the race for the first lap then getting a penalty in the game (Restricted to 105MPH) at the last chicane.

Went down to 3rd behind Fisi and in Second Montoya, coming up to the end of sector 1 he blew his engine right infront of me and just hit it, didn't have time to react, So I had to get to the pits with a broken front wing.

20 second pitstop, I'm poor (Used to be crap) at the button pressing as I'm not used to the different button positioning as to the controller.

Came back out 20 seconds behind 20th placed Sato.

A retirement got me up to P20, then I started overtaking as the others pitted, 4 retirements in the end: Kimi, Montoya, Sato and Ralf Schumacher.

I finished 7th and Rosberg 8th, I recieved 8 seperate penalties!

Rather guilty at the last chicane.

-------

Damn it, just started a career, and after Saturday practice I looked at the table and the bloody thing locked up.

It's done that twice in 3 days now.

Useless heap of crap.

Do I bother buying a newer PS2 (It's about 5 years old) Or shall I wait for the PS3?

Or shall I just clean the laser head again?

I hate the fact that you can't save during a race weekend in Career mode, which plonker came up without that inclusion?

Thoroughly pissed off:grumpy:

Bought this the other weekend. Having fun for the most part...my biggest b*tch

This game must've been rushed >.< sooooo many bugs and glitches...and crap commentary...(I mean...how can I be +1lap over 2nd and 3rd places when I've only just lapped a 20th place Aguri?...and how can a driver need to pit for fuel and been on the track for some time when it's the first corner of the first lap?)

Glad they've put in the parade lap, dissapointed the GT4-esque speed limit penalties (instead of stop-go's) are still there...and the lack of safety cars...

Anyway...just had a cracker of a race

World Championship - Indianapolis, US GP.
Car - McLaren, Kimi Raikkonen
Starting position - 8th

1st corner I hit M. Schumacher after going in too hot, he lost his rear wing and retired, I lost my front wing so had to pit. Came out 21st (dead last now) but with 41 laps of fuel. Still had to go for a 2 stopper because my tyres wouldn't last until the half way point. By the time the first stops came I had gotten to 17th. After the first round of pit stops had finished I was 5th, and came out 8th after my second stop.

Worked my way to 5th again when the next stops came along, at this time it was...

Fisichella
Montoya
Alonso
Button
Raikkonen
Massa
Trulli
R. Schumacher
Barrichello

Button pits, I snatch 4th and look good for maybe nicking 3rd, but I span as I came into the pits. I exited in 5th with a 10 second gap to Massa, but a 22 second gap to Button. So that was me thinking no podium. But a las, thank god for MF1. Monteiro span out (just where that run off is with the little bit of kurb that the AI spins out on quite regularly) and caught Coulthard and Fisichella in a big accident.

So that was me to 4th by luck, 2 laps later with 5 to go, Klien did the same and caught Alonso. So by luck I'd gotten to 3rd and, despite a hairy moment almost getting caught by the other MF1 in the same place, I'd completed a Raikkonen Revival.

So it's fun, but the bugs are a big shame.

In terms of races...Ive had big issues with actually completing races lol, my maiden win came as Rosberg at the Nurburgring. My only other win so far has come from the same track as Kimi. Decided to just start a fresh with a new file... not sure who to drive as though...thinking of Button, Kimi or Rosberg again.

edit - They also let themselves down with the intro video (compared to '05) and the career length (sorry but 5 seasons isn't enough...look at FIFA Football 2005/6, 15 seasons)

I'm on PS2 (PAL version), another graphical glitch seems to be the pit crews misaligned with the wheels...the wheels seem to be moved by ghosts 'cause the pit crew seems to be further forward then they should be

Howzit guys,

Got the game a week ago, been playing on Medium Level (just can't handle Hard), playing with the DFP (it rocks !) and signed up with STR. Got thru all the testing sessions fine, then they offered me the 2nd driver position just before the Monaco GP.

Just a question, does the "Racing Evolution" come up for every GP ? I've been thru the Fuel session as well as the wing setups, helped alot to get rid of the oversteer problems I had.

What you guys think of the Evolution, has it helped you guys at all ?

Restarted career on medium, 50% race distance.

Arranged a test with STR at Magny Cours and happily hit the target time that they had set, and they offered me the first driver seat straight away, so I'm racing for the start of the season.

First race: Bahrain.
Qualified well, with a 12th place position and had a wonderful start. Decided on a two stop strategy and when all was said and done, with retirements of Michael and Giancarlo Fisichella, I won the freakin race. lol

What do yiu guys do with tyres ? I see there are softs and hards.

Now for qual. I use softs, but then for the 10% race distance, would u use softs or hards, and why do they want me to pit ? Even though it does not look like it is necessary ?

It does come up for every GP as far as I know, it does help but I find myself better off 9 times out of 10 when I just tune the car myself.

As for tyre compounds...I've actually not paid much attention...I usually get pole, and I rarely suffer tyre wear before each stop and can sort any grip with little twitches to my downforce settings...usually without any problems in speed loss..

Started again myself, my DNF rating was abismal, wanted to try again on a Championship (I go for full length)

Bahrain - Lapped 5th place with 36 laps to go, 1 lap to go before my first stop and under breaking..bang...there's my engine...
Malaysia - Stayed out on Inters too long instead of coming in for full Wets and had a rear end meeting with the wall
Australia - Won by .210 of a second x.x

Lovely way to try get that record up.

What's up with the fuel strategies?

In my first race I didn't have any choice in the matter, Are there some requirements?

I'm on 30% race distance in the STRs.

Well for the fuel, I specify "scaled" in the options. My race is set to 20%, so I have to pit at least once or twice. You can however set the laps you want to pit on just before the race ? My screen shows a selection with laps and fuel amount just before the actual race.

Yeah, your race strategy should come up in one of two places -

Before Qualy 3, where you must decide your strategy before the shootout
or
Between Qualy 2 and the race if you didn't make the final 10. (or of course just before the race if you didn't do the qualifying)

Least that's how mine is, i'm on Realistic and 100% race distance.

Hi guys.. I just got this game yesterday and I'm having a few issues with it.
You see, in my tv (4:3), the screen looks stretched. I can't see the lap counter and if I adjust to see it, I can't see anything below the fuel icon.. It's becoming a serious problem when you can't see how many laps you still have to do and the fuel is running short.

I tried to set it up in the game, but I didn't find anything that works. Is anyone having this same problem??

And (I think it's normal, but it's pissing me a little) on the first laps (especially the first 2), the game is reaaally slow. The 4 corners after start in Interlagos take about 50 seconds to complete on the first lap!! Looks like playing GTR on a 500Mhz computer with 64 MB of memory!!!

So I though maybe someone could help me out. I got the game yesterday but if I didn't find anything to fix those things, maybe i'm returning it. Its almost unplayable in this situation...
I've read so many nice things about this game... Wish I could fix those issues.

I passed alot of F1 titles, since f12002, but now, the last year with schumi has come and I'm thinking of buying this. But I got two questions of a bit of importance:
Is there a multiplayer? (2 half screens)
Can I use my DFP?
As I've read nothing (or not carefully enough) about this anywhere I thought I'd ask it here.

Thx

I've been playing it for a couple of days now, it's a very nice game.

Oh and by the way I'm happy schumi won in shanghai! Forza Schumi! 👍

Ok so this is my scenario...

I'm in career mode, Easy, 30% race distance.

I can't change my fuel strategy for the race. I just start the race with enough fuel to last the whole race (I have to pit though).

Is this a bug or do you only choose on Medium and higher?

EASY!?

Come on man you gotta crank up to hard for the best racing experiance in the game..
