Don't mean to go off topic too much, but what's a good racing game for PS3 that has better sound? I'm basically a one-game guy and need something to compare.

I remember the early GT's having vacuum cleaner-like engine sounds on PS1, but other than the Civics that actually sound like vacuum cleaners in real life, the sounds on the PS3 seem OK (albeit not earth shattering) to me.

Dirt 3 for starters. I remember the first time I got that game and started messing around the gymkhana compound, I didn't even care the physics weren't 100% simulation. It drove well enough and had such amazing sounds I was having so much fun I didn't touch GT5 for weeks.

Too bad Dirt 3 is too tedious. Don't even get me started on Grid 2, no interiors. Don't even bother mentioning Shift 1/2. NFS..... Yeeah... Good engine sounds but boring games. :yuck:

If you PM me your PSN account I can send you some recorded farting sounds that blow GT sounds out of the water.

Well the timeline is open for interpretation, as to when it will happen. He does confirm it for GT6 though but I'm already doubting they will actually make the effort to update the sounds of 6 still, or save it for GT7 all together.

He also mentions a "new AI" almost and I don't think the lackluster drones/ awful rubber banding that is present in GT6 consists of that really... So where is that one also Kaz?

He doesn't mention a timeline. The only thing he says is when he doesn't think it will be ready, which is for launch.

Regarding the AI, it's actually different from GT5. Perhaps it's not better, but it's definitely not the same.

I never thought Dirt 3 was tedious, definitely not more so than GT. It had an actual career mode with plenty of events and cars, and online was so much fun my brain hurt. I'd still play it online if enough people still got on.

Can confirm, LV and I had rediculous fun on Dirt 3, whether it was point to point rallying or the classic infected mode ;)

If you think dirt 3 is boring, you lack imagination, possibly more.

Racing games i keep myself busy with are mainly on the 360; FM4 and currently playing Race Pro which is very enjoyable and has great physics (sounds are better than GT, but not the best though). Shift 2 you can pick up for a tenner also in the bargain bin for PS3, that's also a very enjoyable racer although the physics could be a bit better in some cases.

A game I don't have but that people also like is GRID (also available on PS3).

In any case you'll find that all of these games offer better sounds and better racing (normal starts and good AI).

It was fun at first, but then I started to feel slightly bored of it. It lacked rally events, and that's my reason for buying it.

Not sure who you're talking to. But if you were, I did that too, and still got bored. I wanted a full rally game, not a joke. Honestly I choose WRC over it.
Lolololololol:lol::lol::lol: Boring??:lol::lol::lol:
Got something to laugh at? You think it's fun to laugh at one's opinion?

You think I'm being sarcastic? Don't want to go too far off topic, so I'll go with this.

These games I mentioned, are all boring because they don't feel different, especially when making sequals. Other racing games (and GT) are the same thing. That's one of the reasons why I get annoyed when people say all GT (or any racing game) needs are better engine sounds, AI, livery editor, basically what all racing games have nowdays. I want something new, like say, a Track creator. MNR has it, yes, but now I want to see a car racer have it. Since GT6 doesn't have it yet, that's why I'm hardly playing it.

But knowing you, you'll just think my post is funny.

D3 was fun but I didn't go much for the Gymkhana. I actually liked Dirt 2 better - it was more visceral in cockpit mode with those water splashes and online wasn't so hampered by the rinse/repeat limited cycle of available stages/circuits - you could also race any vehicle on any track in D2. I did like the hardcore mode online form D3 though.

You missed out then, the infected game mode on the gymkhana compounds was some of the most fun I've ever had online in a racing game.

Then you bought the game for the wrong reasons. Dirt was never meant to be a full rally game, that's what WRC games are for, as you stated. So your gripes with Dirt don't hold much water. If you got bored or didn't like it because it wasn't what you wanted, that's on you.

It's amazing the lengths people will go to defend GT as if it's a religion.

LOL  👍 :) nice man! Haven't had a laugh like that all day.

This review sorta sucked... Pointing out the obvious, but it ended with a very profound point;

"Why can't I race in GT???!!!" "I don't care about moving apexes" "I buy a racing game to race cars..."

This whole "driving simulator" BS to excuse flaws in core genera mechanics needs to die...

It would be better served to call it the "real car and track modeler".

I wish Gangi went more in depth and talked about things like the bugs in GT6 but even people here point out the obvious like the terrible AI, inconsistent frame rate, flickering shadows, etc. And until PD gets the message and fixes these problems, people are going to keep pointing them out.

Lack of any form of actual racing sort of trumps all the other issues... I'd rather my car explode into pieces just brushing the AI than have a TT with rolling apexes...

I bet people might think slightly differently (but not much) if contact was heavily discouraged with AI.

GT AI has never been all that good, but even B-spec looked convincing in GT 5... But B-spec try's to avoid the other cars.

B-spec in GT 6 flat out, won't work the way the cars are all spaced out... You would have to use the formula car just to compensate for bobs cautious driving style. It makes perfect sense why it's not there now.

GT single player is just one big mess... Course maker won't improve any of it... The online features are likely the only 'game changer' to seek redemption, and I'm not really a fan of online but if that's what I have to do to race and have some meaningful structure to it, then bring it on...

I just want to race... And despite this over arching flaw ISSR still gives it a 7? So much for any real voice for the community...

Wow, I'm in a sour mood today :p probably because I finally have a few hours to myself and can't justify spending it in lapping sessions... How can something get so many things right, yet mess up on the most fundamental and core foundations of why people buy a car game...

You know it's even more amazing that you assume I was defending GT, even though I wasn't in the first place. I'm not even going to waste my time with you anymore. 👎 Oh btw, Dirt 1 is my favorite, over Dirt 3.

 No comment...

All I'll say. Have fun buying the games with same ideas from each other.

Teach me your ways, I wish to become superior - much like yourself.
