It seems A and B drivers are avoiding the BB Raceway GR.3 event. Its getting funny now, theres 3-4 really fast drivers at the front and Ds at the back getting lapped quick. Fun racing

not fun when the lapped cars try to block the frontrunners or worse ram them...

I would be interested to see the variables taken into account in the matchmaking, I don't think this is an error, after playing close attention and reading some of the forum comments here.
Currently SR S
The game seems to prioritise SR over DR. It's not uncommon to see exclusively SR S with DR ranging from A to D.
However I have had 30 races, and not had pole position once. Any theories out there?
Your qualifying time is disproportional to your race results in comparison to other players. Although at the moment there's still a lot of players without their proper ranks, it will take time.

Remember the Kyoto event with the Audi TT? Met the same guy four times in a row, even though I improved my DR by winning all of those races. Happened afternoons on european servers.

The popularity of the game, maybe just the sports mode, seems to be quite poor at the moment. Hopefully it improves when we get to the FIA events.

EDIT: Sorry for double posting. I thought it would automatically merge the posts, I remember this to have been the case at some point.

I've been in SR S since the 3rd or 4th day since the game came out and that's all I've raced against except for one or two random As.

Re SR - that feels right, I see a lot more variability in DR than SR, no matter my previous postions. I like that idea too, as you are rewarded more readily for improving your SR. Without a progress bar, I take it there is no other way to see how close to SR A I am? Is running last with a perfect SR (no bumps/ corner overruns/ shortcuts) viable to improve SR quicker? What else counts to negatively impact SR?

Speaking of throwing a qualifying time, my last race would have been perceived as such - last night in the TT race was my first online race (i practised a little offline) with MT instead of AT, and I only had time for one qualy lap. I was matched all DR D SR B, though was 4th of 12, and 6 had no qualy time posted. Is this is the bottom of the DR D division? I know I wouldn't improve DR much as they are equal/ less than my rank, but I guess one could game the system to get easy pole qualifying/ race position by throwing posting a poor qualy/ skipping qualy? I ended up 2nd easily, was catching 1st but ended up finishing 4 seconds behind 1st because 3rd wiped me out.

Mmm this would seem to be why. I read that in a zen voice for some reason.

SO this is saying that other DR D SR B racers qualify quicker? Would that just put me in a lower group of DR D SR B people, who qualified with similar times - making the 1 in 12 still hold? This assumes there are enough people in the division of course.

Qualifying doesn't seem to affect the ratings.
Some people are a lot slower in races than they are in qualifying. Some players spend a lot of time for qualifying, others don't.
It could be due to a lot of reasons, but like I said, at the moment a lot of players still don't have their appropriate ratings.

The game seems to look at SR then DR when matching, the qualifying times are then used to sort the grid once in the sport mode lobby.

Mmm I hadn't thought of that, I think that might be right. Meaning a slow qualifying lap wouldn't change who you are matched with at all.

Which would also explain why I am not qualifying pole in 1 of 12 races.

View attachment 686088 looks like we have a new favorite for the latest Gr.3 race lol what does it say about the BoP when just about every race is usually dominated by one car?
Sadly, some cars will dominate on certain tracks, even with BOP. Real life example: A Nissan GTR GT3 is very quick around Bathurst because of it's power compared to cars like the Audi R8 GT3, Huracan GT3 and Ferrari 488 GT3. But, those cars are much quicker around tracks like Zolder, Nurburgring and Brands Hatch because they're isn't as much emphasis on top speed. The big cars like the Bentley Continental, BMW M6 and Nissan GTR GT3 suffer due to their larger frontal surface and drag. The commentators of GT3 Series like Blancpain explain time and time again how certain cars favour certain tracks.

That's right - as long as it's not the same car dominating on every circuit the system should work.

... and how good would it be to see a Bentley Continental GT3 in DLC ...

Word of advice: I don't know, if someone had this before, but if you take part in a Sport-race where the car is not from your garage, like today's Audi TT at Alsace, and the tyres are not the default ones (i.e. SS, not SH for the Audi TT), then every time you enter the track in qualifying or warm-up, the game is going to notify you of the fact that the tyres are changed (in this case to SS).

But here's the catch: if you are already qualified, and you just enter the race without warm-up, the tyres are not set to SS! You are going to start the race with SH and will have a really frustrating race after you wonder why the grip is gone.

I will give this a test tonight but if that’s the case then this is a bug that should be fixed ASAP.

Would be nice to know what the update contains!?

Am i wrong or is there no option to change car in open lobby?

Up the top of the page you must cancel entry first. But at the top under something like race settings or something you can change car.

Yes some cars perform better is some tracks that do in others. But no car can pretty much be on top in every single race.
And since you are talking about real life example,Nissan GTR GT3 is really slow almost in every track. And this year -2017- in Bathurst (12h) the top 3 cars were kinda different:
1st.Ferrari
2nd.Porsche
3rd.Bendley
Last year it was a 650S GT3 that got the win.
Nissan would be a good example of a car under-performing in almost every race it takes part (especially last 2 years).Mainly because its an old model.

Hi there guys, I am the new guy. after reading this thread for a couple of weeks I decided to sign up and add to the discussions.

GTS does look like a demo of GT to me. only 17 tracks and a hand full of cars? really?
No damage? No dynamic weather? The first NFS on PSX had more...
There's 'nough said about this so I'll move on to Sport mode.

Someting I really miss in the Sport mode is variety in the online races. There are only 3 races availabe, 3!!!
If they would like to have this online only game a succes, they had to migrate all the offline (missing) Career events to online multiplayer events. For instance: FW car, Japanese make car, NA, max 200HP, etc. like back in the days. So you had to prepair a car for this race. In this way there a dozens of races and challenges to choose. This will have everybody online.
To let their actual race matching system work they need lots of people playing it. There should be way more content and way more challenges and variety of things to do. They need their people to play online to flourish this game. Otherwise it will be a ghost town with only some die-hards playing it.
They should make the people waint to raise there ranking level. That's a goal besides winning races. It works for Call of Duty where it's all about prestige.

Also they should make a Call of Duty type online multiplayer where you are placed in a lobby (maybe based on ranking) and you go through a carrousel of circuits with your lobby. Just like Call of Duty does with all the different maps. I think you're in a lot more races in a shorter time and it will be more dynamic.

This ranking system is boring.
If my ranking is displayed by only 2 letters, and I don't even know what they mean or when they will change...it isn't really hitting on me.
I want a 'points needed to next level' ranking system. Dynamic points based on finishing position, mileage, clean driving, penalties, hours driving, etc.

Overall I think GTS is taking a huge risk to aim for online racing, and with skipping Career mode the bets are placed on one horseonly , which needs to be a damn good 200% perfect horse!! And scrolling through the comments it it far from perfect. I also hate being 10sec penaltied for somebody else hitting me.

if, due to lack of people available, high ranked people will be matched with low ranked destruction derby guys their fun will soon be killed if they get bumped off track in every corner.

The IsoRivolta Zagato Vision Gran Turismo will be there
Don't think so.

So, it may be added to the game in the random scenes appearing but not in Brand Central.
Like Porsche cars.

Why? The article was written before the update was announced, so it is the next update. And tomorrow we'll see if this is true =)
The article was written after the 1.03 was released (I think my memory doesn't mistaken me.)
So in other words they say that it will come in future update (not too clear the "future" though) but it will take a little longer... Meaning that we will not be able to drive when it first joins GTS.
Same with Porsche cars which appeared.

It says "Future update" and not "Next update".
If you add the fact that "it will take a little longer" it is logical to say its not going to be in the game that soon.

It is ready indeed :

I hope it has a modeled cockpit, otherwise it would end up joining 13 other cars that don't have cockpits.

Something I noticed in the Credits last night were a few staff tied to Jay Leno.

I wonder if that means some Jay Leno content will appear at some point in the future, maybe Scapes of his garage?
