Qualified 11th, finished 6th...out of 10 finishers, which earned me 111 points. There were not one, but two griefers (a Spaniard and a Pole), but I was lucky enough to avoid them. I tried a 1-stop strategy, but my tyres were absolutely shredded for the final 5 laps of each stint.

Well my GT2 slot 1 went horribly wrong.

I might have been in some shenanigans last night in daily C at the Ring with a SR drop which put me in a lower lobby for this one worth only 71 points. Even a win wouldn't improve my score.

Went Q6, was in second place about to make my first pit stop after 10 laps..... when the game froze. Completely locked up and got an error report.

So it's off to slot 2 with yet another SR drop presumably as I'm sure the crashed game figures I quit.

Sigh.

Waste of time for me today, and I'm not doing that again. Glad the season is over, I need a break from this for a while.

I was in the same lobby as @GOTMAXPOWER and it was a complete mess at turn 1. I started P10 then got forced off by the Swede starting P9 on the left because he went deep past the apex and left no racing room whatsoever for those who started on the right. Ended up sliding across the grass and pushing him on the apex to briefly take the positions back.

Lap 1 was just horrible for me. I really, really do feel like I need to be much lower DR for Group 3 races. I try to keep it clean and always get punished for it, dropping almost all the way to the back.

I ended up managing to finish P13 after getting past a Spaniard who tried the 1-stop in the Nissan whilst resisting the urge to send him into the wall. I think I'm pretty much at the point where I see red with the guy because he's pushed-to-pass me several times over the last 6 weeks, and finished my race at Sardegna by putting me into the wall trying to go 2-wide with him. I'm not the only person I've seen him push off either. Simply put, I do not trust him to race cleanly whatsoever and he defends everything as though it's the end of the world.

Congrats on the P4 @GOTMAXPOWER, you did well pushing through all that nonsense at the start and then breaking away.

Yeah screw that race. GT2 slot 2 wasn't much better. Q5 to P11 as my race was over on lap 1, turn 2 of a 29 lap race. Punted off, stuck to the wall, damage front to back and my assailant carries off down the road.

Worst score of the season and zero desire to do that again. Glad it's all over with.

Back to daily C I go to try and recoup some DR.

The driving at the start of that was a joke, the South African who finished 2nd started absolute chaos, somebody had got on the outside of them in turn 1 but instead of dealing with it properly they turned sharp right and forced them off on the inside of turn 2 to kill about 3 players whilst the rest of us had to scatter. I won't be doing that race again, the result was good but it was really boring trying to save tyres for an entire hour.

Took until my third flying lap in qualifying before I was actually on for a fast lap, so of course a guy is going slow and weaving through the esses right as I catch up to him. Cost me half a second and probably 4/5 places on the grid, but I started 12th.

Got squeezed a bit but nothing major through the first sector, after which I'd moved up to 8th. I had a bit of side by side stuff with 7 through the esses before a German pulled alongside me going into big banky boi. As I tried to take the corner he didn't turn as early as I did and spun me out, where I was collected by a Spaniard behind and ended up off the track. I wasn't last until I got passed by the Frenchman who started 2nd and got punted then spun out in the first two corners, oof.

I was in 15th at this point and every place I made up since was from people being off track or quitting. Watching the replay now it's just full of people tapping the rear quarter and spinning people out.

On lap 5 the Frenchman I mentioned and I were side by side though the S after BBB. We came together and I was pretty riled by this point so was just standing my ground, and I can't even really tell what happened. I'm on the right, as we turn right he makes contact then veers left and I collect him on the way out, nearly spinning him as he's on the kerb at the left. I think he tried a punt at turn 1 on the next lap (couldn't blame him at this point tbf he'd lost a lot more than me) but eventually things settled down.

By the first round of pitstops on lap 9/10 I ended up in 8th. An Austrian on a really weird strategy ended up falling back and I was 7th by lap 17. I stayed there. If I hadn't had such a calamitous first lap I would have had the pace to have been around 4th place, but it was still a good recovery drive and really couldn't fail to have been an improvement on my Autopolis score. I'm glad it's over and wouldn't do it again, but it's still annoying knowing I was off-meta and had a chance at a really good result ruined. Everyone who wronged me ended up behind me so that's something I guess.

My poor right arse. I finished in 57:48 in a 190 point lobby. Winner was 57:13.

Qualifying
I got out of the pits first and did a flying lap out in front of everyone in clean air with the M6. I held pole with that time right up until the very end of quali so started second and I went in with very positive energy.

Race
Took first back on the opening two corners and kept up the pace until the tyres started to lose grip, and I would eventually settle in to a reliable yo-yo between 3rd and 6th place as my pit stops overlapped others. This is about where I expected since quali behind me looked a bit messy so my starting position was a result of having a good qualifying space rather than outright pace. I can go fast or I can conserve tyres, I cannot do both! I did a 3 stopper (Pitting on lap 8/15/22) in the end.

It was the penultimate lap when I got a silly 2 sec penalty which put me down to 8th on the final back straight on lap 29

BUT!

I felt totally at home in the car, and loved that we could just race flat out on a level playing field with a full tank and the same tyres. It would be boring to have every race like this, but it was for me a fun race to end the season on.

A tough round.
Especially when 90% of GT world drives the Beemer which obviously is a weapon here. In capable hands, but unfortunately not mine.
I can't drive that thing, the rear wants to step out in half of the exits and about half of those I'm unable to save.
I can put a fast lap in FP, but my consistency in a race with the M6 is in shambles.

So I went for the next best thing from the tests I ran - the GT-R - a demon starter, but that's about it...

GT2, first US slot, mid B lobby, 91 points for the win

Qualified 11th with 58.0, not a very good lap, pole was in 56s.

The Nissan started very nicely passing two cars in front, but shortly we were stopped in a city limits situation.
GTWS25-Nations6-citylimits.jpg

By lap 2 I was down to 12th, hoping only for the mistakes of others as BMW was murdering my Nismo in many corners.
Soon the gifts were coming, the wild disposition of the M6 was showing as some people started spinning left and right. Some being in the fight and some on their own.
On lap 9 when I pitted for fresh tires I was 6th.

I was still driving 6th with some nice gaps behind until in lap 15 my own mistakes started to come...
GTWS25-Nations6-errors.jpg

Something went wrong with my concentration as small mistakes started to happen (some leading to time penalties), which didn't help my case. After my second and final pit stop on lap 19 I emerged in 10th place.

Thought to myself, that's probably my level today. But... the gifts started to drop again. People fighting, people spinning.
GTWS25-Nations6-gifts.jpg

Finished surprisingly in 5th, but it left a bitter taste. I was just disappointed with my driving today.
I should be in 10th if it weren't for the Bavarian Santa...
GTWS25-Nations6-result.jpg

For a moment there I thought maybe try this again? But no, I'm tired, my thumbs ache and 77 points is a good haul (59 from round 2 was my lowest result) - second try could end much worse...

This has been the most DISSAPOINTING Final round race ever, why PD why, no creatvity whatsoever, just a BMW snoozefest and lots of dirty & scummiest drivers ever! Not happy!

GTWS Round 6 - EMEA Region - 9pm slot - LEXUS RCF GT3 '17 - Door no.13 - RS Tyres - Sunny-ish forecast - Grid Start!

Qualifying:

This was ok but got abysmal by the 3rd lap, my pace was off could only achieve a lowly 1:58 and that netted me into 13th place to start on the grid. There was a spaniard bloating he got fastest lap more on him in the race overview!

Onto the Race!
We fleexed otu the Grid start and everyone rushed to turn 1 and it was a mess as usual predicted, I tried to stay clear but kept gettign sandwichhed by BMW's hence my frustration. As the pack eased up I was in 12th place and tried to ge the Lexus moving and shaking. I had random bouts of wierd understeer throughout this entire race that made no sense to me whatsoever, this is a gt3 car on RS tyres why is it behaving this way, this track has too much pinch points also.

I truly hate this course now, it is so unforgving, the only bit I love is the hairpin on the U bend as I always seem to nail that everytime.
Lots of argy bargy and abysmal driving. I got punted on lap 7 by an italian guy going intot turn 1 but it wasnt as bad as what i will describe by that cheeky Spaniard prick that hit me later on. Lots of pitting did the two stop strategy, but the tyres were shredding their way on lap 11 and 12, I had to go in on lap 12 first. I could not sustain till lap 14 whatsoever depsite my careful driving.

The two incidents I will highlight now and will be shown in clips below, highlight the issues with these GTWS races that PD make and dont think about, firstly why only 5 cars, everyone picked the BMW M6 and it become a boredowm of germanic boats bumping each other all over the place. I had a mix of French and spanish drivers chopping at each other.

On lap 23, I was chasing for p11 and gaining on the last turn this spaniard driver ina NISMO GTR, he then decides to push me harshly to the pitwall entry on purpose, I tried to avoid and we both hit the walls, why do this unless you a child honestly, I was way past him and he still couldn't take it as seen int he clip below.

The second aweful incident involved a hideously dirty french driver being a right old melon, now I accidently bumped him in an earlier turn, but I stopped to let him get the position back but for some reason he slowed down and then I thought maybe sumting up i capitilise and passed him again. Then on the main straight you can see he is clearly gearing to potentially ram me, he going full tilt and late breaks and then bashs me on turn 1 and I go spinnyaroonie! Utterrly bollox racing by this guy on the last lap, he cost me P11 and he only got a 3sec penalty! WTF game? He should have got a 5 sec penalty, all that was totally unjustifed and unwarranted!

Post race banter was god aweful, the spaniard thinking he gods gift to racing, and I gave my two cents to him adn the dirty frenchman!

Let me see what my score & ranking is tomorrow, but not a pleasant end to my this Cup Championship! :banghead::irked:

I wasn't expecting that season to go as well as it did, in theory none of the rounds should've been a good experience on controller with the high downforce cars and the 2 Gr3 races with high tyre wear. I guess my DR has dropped enough from daily races that I'm not miles out my depth in these now.

Decent payout for a pretty lackluster campaign. Between the not so great combos and the really not so great time slots on Wednesdays, this season was pretty forgettable.

Looks like I better spend some credits soon.

I ran the first GT1 slot in North America (9 PM EDT). I was in door #3 driving the BMW M6, with 164 points available.

I didn't get any really good laps out of qualifying. I set a time of 1:57.591, which landed me in Q11.
gtws-nc-rd6-start.jpg

As expected, there was chaos off the start, but not the kind I was expecting. The car two ahead of me stayed put. It didn't move an inch. Or ghost. Thankfully, I was able to swerve to avoid it. The car behind me was not so lucky and drove right into the back of it.

There was a bit of rubbing through T1 and T2, but everything remained pretty civilized, and I was a bit surprised to find I'd come out of the first complex of corners in P8. From there, it was mostly processional, just trying to stay in the train. At some point I was promoted to P7 when the P2 driver was taken out.

The most excitement came in lap 7, when the #11 BMW in P6 made a small mistake at the sweeping right-hander (T5?). That gave me the chance to get alongside for the esses at the top of the hill.

gtws-nc-rd6-overtake.jpg

That was a fun bit of side-by-side action that netted me P6, at least momentarily. The move had compromised my run out of the esses and we were abreast once more going into Big Banky Boi. They had the inside, so I pulled the old switcheroo and we came out still side-by-side in the run down the hill.

The #13 Lexus behind got a better exit than the both of us and tried to squeeze between us at the ess.

gtws-nc-rd6-overtaken.jpg

At the first corner, I didn't realize they'd managed to poke their nose in. I turned into them and unsettled the back of my car. I managed to avoid a spin, but the slide had compromised my speed and the two of them drove past, leaving me in P8.

There was a bit more action, but none worth mentioning. I ran a 9/10/10 strategy. I managed to reclaim P7 at some point and held it to the end for 123 point and a small boost to my DR. That felt like a lot of racing for not much action. Still, it was a decent result, so I'll take it.

Final results for the season...

1746958092004.png

Aside from the gold I got for my primary local are for being the sole driver, the other results only netted me bronze awards. I suppose that goes to show how little participation there was in North America this season.

I have to say that I enjoyed this season more than I expected to. The first round was horrible for me, but the rest were at least somewhat fun. Some of the rounds were more interesting strategically than they first seemed on paper, such as the fuel-saving at Spa and tire-saving at Autopolis. Even the F3500-A was fun, once I got the hang of driving it.

The biggest problem with the season for me, though, were the time slots. With the first slot at 9PM for me, it was just too late. At that time of day my brain is winding down and I'm just not at my best.

I'm not sure when we'll be back for another exhibition season, but, until then, thanks for the great chat and community! It's been a blast, as always!

Finished off the 2025 Nations Cup Series way better than my Manufacturers Cup run, 25th in EMEA and nearly Top 5 in the UK.

Full 10 Million Credits rewarded.

Round 1 was my surprise round in a knife edge car that can't turn and not meant on a track that small and little room for error

Round 2 was my best round despite a repeat combo, a good strategy helped me get through the field

Round 3 was my worse round as it's just a pad tyre killer, Autopolis is one of my Top 5 worst tracks in the game.

Round 4 was my salvage round despite being the race I was looking forward to scoring big the most in the new F3500-A

Round 5 was my comeback round, having no experience racing Trial Mountain in reverse I still pulled through with last to 8th

And finally Round 6 was my strongest round with Maggiore being my best track I know I can perform well on my first try especially in Gr.3.

You can watch Round 6 of my race here:

Given their points totals it seems like avg DR in EMEA is also much higher. However I have no idea what this really means because it is also dependent on all the other drivers in your region and I have no idea what factors influence the progression through DR the most other than running lots of races and doing good in them.

Now that it is over I kinda like don't know what to do with my life anymore.
So much this!

I've got a short list of things to do in the game while we wait for the next season to drop. For instance, I'd never won the 1-hour Human Comedy mission at Lago Maggiore. Now that I'm all practiced up in the combo, I took the BMW there and knocked it out. There are weekly challenge races and time trials that I'd put aside to prepare for the Nations Cup. Those are next on my list.

Not sure what I'll do after that. I've already collected all the cars and am close to topping out my wallet at 100M again (but I can always go back to the Legend Car Dealership to buy whatever 20M car is on offer to fix that).

There are always the Daily Races, I suppose.

Hoping we get another exhibition season soon. There is time for a single 4-race season of either Nations or Manufactures before the live event in London. Maybe we'll get one of those.

I was briefly in the brackets to get the full 10 million at the end of round 5, but only just. It's very unlikely to have held even if I had replaced my lowest score (round 1) with another win.

Overall it's been a very good season for me with an average score of just over 210 for each counted round, especially considering it was best 5 of 6. My first win since late 2022 as well which must have had my neighbours wondering what on earth was going on from how loud I was cheering. 😅

A top 100 finish in the official season is also a new high for me, but I'm aware that it's inflated due to low participation, likely because of the schedule. Speaking of which, I do feel like I got somewhat lucky with that too; high downforce cars tend to be where I feel most competitive compared to other categories. Well, unless I get caught up and murdered by the bloodbath that frequently happens on lap 1 with them. There's something about driving those cars in VR that feels very natural, even the X2019.

The Group 3 races definitely gave me a hard time like Manufacturers, and the sole redeeming factor of Autopolis for me was being able to do the 1-stop and make up places solely on tyre management rather than pace. After starting towards the back and getting taken out early on, that P8 (technically P9 due to the post-flag disconnect from a car ahead) finish was very much a surprise.

I do hope they'll try to refrain from using Group 3 in Nations in future considering that's literally what Manufacturers is for and it's the only place where we can use the other cars. Also partially (for selfish reasons) because I feel like I'm relatively uncompetitive in it.

I've always found Manufacturers more difficult than Nations, but there's something about Group 3 since that last physics rework that I'm struggling with. The cars just feel so understeery in online race conditions, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. If I try being smooth, I feel like I end up being too cautious and aggravating whoever's behind me. If I try to push, the car either refuses to turn in and/or stop. Either way, I struggle for race pace compared to the people I get matched against. It's like I can't quite get the balance right.

I didn't manage to do the last race at Lago Maggiore even though I really like the combo.

All silvers overall is fine with me. Even a win at Maggiore wouldn't have gotten me into gold I believe. Therefore it's all fine.

GTWS seasons are somewhat stressful. I will make it a point in the future to only do a race if I really really feel like it and not care about my leaderboard points.
