I think it needs to be set in San Andreas or some other area that is similar. I mean the open farmland, fields, small towns, Mt. Chiliad and the like made that game awesome. As long as the next GTA has that, it will be great.

I think Toronto and the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) would be cool. I'd love to see one set in Canada, with maybe some detours into New York or Buffalo. Lots of potential there!

I'd personally love to see a remake of Vice City, albeit with updated missions, music. Just everything done on a far grander scale than before, would be great. 👍

This!

With K-rose back on the radio. 👍

Crooooooow
To add a little more information, why do you want it to be set in Liverpool?

Itll b good for the game to try out england i think, change the cars around, plus liverpools a big city with plenty of towns around it and itll b great to walk down the street, see a group of scallys in there trackies and take them out with a rocket haha

I voted for other as I heard before off someone that they were considering mapping it out on Limerick City (No! It's not a poem!), in Ireland. Although this is very unlikely it would be nice to see an Irish one. Also, for anyone unfamiliar with Ireland, Limerick is Ireland's most violent and dangerous city. But, the chances are that what I heard was BS and otherwise I would love it to be in San Andres because it's so vast and theres loads to do.
Really!? I was there for a rugby weekend 2 years ago (Ospreys-Munster H-cup) and thought it was a wonderfully friendly city, at least in the City Centre and around the stadium. Though I admit the walk to the city centre from the stadium wasn't too attractive.

I suppose they'll only do that when people are satisfied with the size of the game's main layout city, which was disappointing in GTA IV.

I wasn't at all disappointed with the size and layout of (gta4's) Liberty City. What I was disappointed with was how little they exploited the city they created. There should have been more of the seedy back alleys, rooftops, docks etc. Plus they could have utilized the buildings a lot better. Size wasn't the issue, poor game design (not area design) was imo. When you think of the possibilities, they could have made an absolutely stunning game.

That's an awesome idea. Now to expand... Toronto styled city + Liberty city thrown in... + over 100 hours of main campaign gameplay = best (non racing) game ever.

Can just imagine you come out of union station (toronto). You see someone you've been looking for. Neither of you want to raise suspicion so you quietly blend in with the crowd and follow at normal walking pace. He walks to the cn tower to try and escape you, but you follow him inside. He goes through the metal detector which goes off as he has a gun. He runs to the elevator and forces the attendant to go up. You do the same thing and when you get there he's holding a hostage on the glass floor.

You shoot the glass floor (I know it's bulletproof, but noone blinked an eye when you had to shoot the glass floor hottub in Hitman 4) and he falls through.

You go back to ground level, but the police are everywhere. You run through the building to front street, but alas, more police. You run to the skydome(rogers centre) to try and escape and find out to your joy that there's a game on. Then it's just a matter of buying a jersey and hat and blending in with the crowd. Would be a pretty epic mission.

Also, I know it's a lot to ask, but most (or every) gta games have had prisons. Give us a good 6-10 hour slot inside prison followed by an amazing escape mission. Now here is where the second city comes in and you spend another 6-10 hours game time in another city. After that, you can commute back and forth.

I would really like the game to be set in San Andreas, or at least a city (and its surounding area) that somewhat follows San Andreas' design.

Personally, I really enjoyed the huge size of that game and, even moreso, the fact that it wasn't just a big city but also enabled you to travel more rural areas, the desert and such. It felt just so much more varied.

If that's out, I'd like to see what Vice City looks like in this day and age

Totally agree!

Somewhere outside America...the world doesn't consist of just Americans. Tokyo, London or other for me.

Its not based outside of America, not this Generation of GTA at the least. I know that for sure.

All clues have pointed to Los Santos and the game to be heavily based around a fictional Hollywood. But then again there have been plenty of clues towards Vice City. Its been said to be officially announced next month, there is a German Gamescom Convention around the same time.

The fact that there has been un-named sources close to R* stating that the game is already pretty close to completion, minus mini-games and touch ups, it all seems to fit in nicely for a release next year. GTA IV was released on the 29th of April 2008. If they announce it next month then I'm guessing a similar release date for GTA V. From next months announcement through to April 2012, they will have 8-9 months of hype to build. Less effort in building hype will be needed for V, due to GTA IVs success.

I read somewhere on IGN that it was going to set in the 70s. This was a while back and it was probably just speculation or some random rumor.

Personally, I'd love a return to San Andreas, but with the updated graphics and new physics engine in. That was one of the PS2's best games and arguably the biggest GTA out of the lot.

I voted for Vice city to keep the parallel of the PS2. Vice City was a moderate step forward, but San Andreas was a serious step forward. So I'd like to keep it that way. Make what you can of Vice City (it should definetly be improved from GTA IV) but I want San Andreas to be reserved for the most incredible things Rockstar will have learned to do by that point.

I really want Vice City, can you imagine how cool a modern accurate Miami would be in game. It would be like playing through the film Miami Vice. I hope we hear some news soon.
