It's 120,000-odd off of GT5's USA number the week before it's release, according to the source everybody likes to use:
http://www.vgchartz.com/preorders/40503/USA/
So yes, it is quite low compared to GT5, and if one wants to take that as representative of what the sales will end up being, that would just be guessing. It's not exactly a big leap, however; GT's 2 and 4 both sold less than their previous installments on the same systems. I don't see the downward trend changing, quite honestly.
That chart you linked to is from 1 week before the GT5 launch where the newest chart is from 2 weeks before the GT6 launch. It's actually just under 100k pre-orders away from GT5. But, It's important to note that most games add more pre-orders 1 week before launch than they do 2 weeks before launch. So, If GT6 adds 80 or 90K pre-orders than the pre-orders would be very close. Even if it only adds 50k or so more pre-orders that puts it pretty close to what GT5 had.
You also don't seem to understand the argument being made here. The OP talks about pre-orders being "scary low" or "very low" and that was true when the thread was made, but it isn't anymore. Actually, considering it's a game coming out on a system that's already been replaced. Those are pretty impressive numbers.
