Can someone actually make this thread what it should be? Do I have to go to ForzaPlanet just to see a side by side list of all of the FM4 and GT5 DLC?

For a total cost of... well I don't know, but it’s much more in Australia, so my prices aren't worth quoting.

I have a feeling that the 'March DLC delay' is an effort on PD's part to squeeze more items into the next DLC Car Pack/Track Pack - and I hope it's worth it! Their DLC seems hit and miss to me, some people loved the first DLC, but hate the rest, others like me prefer the Car Pack 2 & 3, as well as the Speed Pack, but didn't buy the initial DLC.

Could we have a no nonsense, side-by-side list of all of the DLC from FM4 to counter this list please? This is the only 'titled' thread on the internet to do this as far as I can tell, otherwise I'll just have to go to ForzaPlanet to find their up to date list.

Here you go - straight from Forza Planet (not my work so its only fair to quote and credit the member who put it together):

Wow! This thread is actually doing what it's title suggests.

I think even the most diehard GT5 fan has to admit, that in terms of both quantity, FM4 has better DLC, and I think it doesn't really matter that GT5 has only started at DLC, they have a long way to go to get to the same level as FM4...

Think about it, they'd have to release *counts* 80-90 cars (I'm not counting the Touring Cars from PD), just to get close to the same quantity (quality wouldn't be a problem usually for PDs DLC), and while I don't like 'every' car on the list, I don't like 'every' car from PD either. I mean, 30 cars each month for 3-4 months, and they'd finally catch up... PD should really hire more staff!

The DLC that has me waiting the most for is the Porsche pack cuz I love Porsche and miss having them.

And I love the DLC that FM4 has received a lot more than the GT5 DLC aside from 1 thing...

TRACK PACK

Forget the massively long oval but Spa is awesome. The disco kart track is cool but Spa is Spa... Dear T10, where's the track DLC stuff??? :)

I would think that as far as tracks, they would wait until the season pass DLC car lists and Porsche pack are released.

May Top Gear Car Pack
2012 Hennessey Venom GT: The Venom GT is ambition personified. Designed to beat the Bugatti Veyron’s 0-200 mph time, the car is defined by pure, unadulterated power. The result is impressive—the Venom reaches 0-200 mph in less time than it takes your average car to reach 0-60 mph.

1977 AMC Pacer X – Wayne and Garth never had it so good. With classic 70s style and a 232-cubic-inch, 3.8 litre, inline six, the Pacer X was modest on power, but its legacy lives on today. Take it for a ride in “Forza Motorsport 4,” preferably with “Bohemian Rhapsody” cranked nice and loud.

2011 Ford Transite SuperSportVan: The SuperSportVan is the latest creation in the long-standing series of Ford-built custom fans, which dates back to 1971. Designed to prove that Ford engineers know how to have fun, this version is a one-off design shown at a 2011 UK commercial vehicle show.

2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon: The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is by far the most comfortable and amenity-loaded Wrangler ever. It’s grittier too, with 40 per cent more horsepower than older models, making this Jeep just as comfortable on the track as it is on the trails.

1966 Lotus Cortina: One of the first “race on Sunday, commute on Monday” factory cars, the Lotus Cortina built its reputation both on the tarmac and in folks’ daily lives. Packing 115-horsepower and weighing just over a ton, the Cortina can carry four people in relative comfort, but it’s most happy when being revved high and thrown into a corner with full gusto.

1992 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4: The turbo-charged Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 is a treasured piece of JDM history. The VR-4 was sold in limited numbers and its four-wheel drive, four-wheel-steering handling highlights technology that caters to a driving experience matched only by much more expensive sedans.

2012 Smart ForTwo: The uncontested winner of the “easy to park” award, the Smart ForTwo is the first micro car to be introduced in the U.S. At just 106-inches long, the ForTwo is by far the smallest production car ever made. It’s a practical, urban errand runner whose looks will always spark a conversation.

1990 Subaru Legacy RS: Putting aside its smaller, quirkier wagons and sedans, Subaru brought new game to dealerships in 1990 with the Legacy RS. More substantial in nearly every respect, the Legacy RS Turbo was the most powerful Subaru model available and still enjoys a strong following among Subie enthusiasts.

2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8: Packing a huge HEMI under its hood that makes for more than 450 horsepower, the Chrysler 300 SRT8 packs a potent combination of power and sophistication. The 300 will go hit 0-60 in under five seconds and will nail the quarter mile in less than 13 seconds. It might not be what you expect from a Chrysler these days… and that’s precisely the point.

1965 Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII: Hand-crafted beauty and grin-widening performance define the 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII. With a 147-horsepower, six-cylinder overhead valve engine, the Healey–or “Squealy” as it was often called–delivers an exhilarating open-air ride and grippy cornering.

I made a post on another board about this.. outside of the initial 2 reveals, anyone notice that the 5 so far have all been on Hockenheim? And they don't have a driver. Maybe this is a new location we can take pics at?

If true, then boo. I'd really like it, and a few other locations we've seen since development, to have these views. In race replay you'll have a driver in the seat.

Not to derail the thread, but I wonder what sort of programming it would take to allow for photomode pics taken at any track. Doesn't seem like it would be too difficult since you can pretty much already do it save for removing the driver.

GT5 is win.

But GT5's DLC is 🤬.

Because honestly, they can provide the content whenever they need to, but after only three DLC packs, one of which only had 2 new truly new cars, they get lazy and use the fact that they are working on GT academy 2012 as an excuse. then, they don't provide cars with variety, the game has been out for 2 years, the first DLC was not much besides a bunch of slightly different race models of cars we already had, the only brand new cars in DLC 2 were the two volkswagens, DLC 3 added some decent cars but I feel that we could have got the 4WD version of the mini, and a koenigsegg or other cool car in place of the horrid Leaf G, I mean seriously who would use that piece of garbage in a race? its not like the volkswagen which can have its engine beefed up to produce over 200 horsepower and smash cars up to the 500pp range.

not to hate on PD, I just feel that if they would make smarter decisions about their DLC they could profit more from it.

With horizons ,forza yet again provides what we as a community , long for. This seems to be a reoccoring theme. I dont see why turn 10 can continually add to their title or up the ante and pd continues to dissapoint. They produce yet another splash and we cannot even get drops in the bucket. They pump new, NEW cars monthly and we struggle to get rebadged or slightly tweaked versions of cars we already have. In some cases cars we are oversaturated with to begin with. For the most part our dlc cars have been rebadged or cars tunes and called "tc". Ive heard the manpower argument ,and that turn 10 outsourced some of its work. I dont care who does the work as lo g as its done. If manpower is an issue then couldnt they hire more, im sure they would see a positive return on their investment, as we are eager to receive and purchase dlc. Ive heaed the quality issue . It takes so much longer to model a car for us as compared to them. I just cant see the proportion of quality to quantity for me to buy that argument. That game doesnt look like a bunch of our standards! As statef before most of our dlc cars are rebadged or tuned, dont see the vast time investment for modeling or scanning for these. It just seems that turn 10 keeps pushing forward for their clients and pd does not. Surely money couldnt be the reason for difference in new content. Surely. I think pd simply WILL not provide more for us as opposed to cannot provide for us as it seems many beleive to be the case. In my opinion, uninformed as it may be is that pd should do more for such a loyal fan base such as we are. Its like a releigon, cult, or an addiction the way some of us play and are loyal to the series. Dont know, maybe its just me?

I just got to post this because this really seems to be a reoccurring theme on GTP here.

PD only disappoints because you have set your mental standards so high with another game, and expect the same to happen to another game. I don't think they have disappointed, not at all.

If you're so disappointed. Go buy that game, and buy all it's DLC. I think some people need to ram into their heads that... They're two different games. This might sound absolutely crazy, but by god, you can own both! No sane person is going to do that though. :sly:

So to make it easier on you, do you like what this other company is doing and it's truly benefiting you that much? Go ahead, walk that way, dump that money on the local retail store clerk table.

I'll continue to enjoy GT5 from time to time. I'm still to this day - since November 2010, very content with my purchase.

You tell em Squach240. Now I'm starting to understand that everyone just want GT to become the other game. In your dreams, it ain't happen.

This is the most part I see and read what people type up. Its very funny, because they never do it. So instead, they come here to bitch about GT5 being disappointing, all because of DLC? Face it, which is better.

1. Buying DLC every month just to enjoy something that'll be seen in the next installment?

Or

2. Playing and enjoying a game bringing all its got.

For me, number 2. I'm enjoying them both a lot what they brought, other than to add more by buying more to enjoy more. I was one of those people who complained about PD not being as intresting like the other game giving out DLC, but than got over it a few months after. :sly:

This might sound absolutely crazy, but by god, you can own both! No sane person is going to do that though. :sly:

They don't really understand this one, which is sad to be honest. However. I do understand about them not having the money to buy both systems and games. But if you do, don't compare them both, because it'll lead you to not liking the other game. Just enjoy them because heres a secret of mine, they both have cars in them.

So to make it easier on you, do you like what this other company is doing and it's truly benefiting you that much? Go ahead, walk that way, dump that money on the local retail store clerk table.

+1,000,000,00.

I'll continue to enjoy GT5 from time to time. I'm still to this day - since November 2010, very content with my purchase.

Nice finish. :) I may not play GT5 to often, but I'll always enjoy it of what its got, and saving the rest for GT6. Very smart I must say. 👍

Why not? There's nothing wrong with choosing one over the other. I've had difficulty enjoying GT5 long before Forza 4 even came into the picture. So if FM4 comes along and it turns out to do a better job of what I want out of a racing game than GT5, I'm just going to shove GT5 aside. It's that simple.

I love both GT and FM as a series, but if I feel one game in them is lacking too much, I'm not going to waste my time on it or worry that I might end up disliking it when I feel there are other games that are better.

I think the point is completely missed here. I don't particularly care what you do. Shove GT aside, and go play Forza. Go ahead. :)

I'm playing Driver San Francisco in my spare time at the moment. Does that mean I should obliterate this topic about the positives about that game are in comparison to Forza and Gran Turismo? No, because they're three different games in completely different markets. Each team that we're loyally supporting has their own ideas. The majority here are pleading for GT to be a PS3'd Forza title, and if that does happen. GT would be saturated. It wouldn't be exactly the GT game i've grown up & enjoyed over the years.

I'm not sure if people relay "Putting GT aside" as a threat. Members here do structure their sentences surely like that. But is really announcing such really that internally structuring to you?

I love both GT and FM as a series
And have fun with them both! They're both worth your time, and your wallet. 👍

Meanwhile, i'm going to go back to playing Driver San Fran.

Yours truly,
a Gran Turismo fan.

Thing is though, there are people who see GT5 and think it's a great game, while others see GT5 and see that it may have some issues that FM4 (and perhaps the Forza series in general) do a better job at (I'll admit that there may be a few things that GT5 does better). DLC is one of these things. Yes DLC could just simply be a way for a company to get more money, however in the case of Forza, it provides new monthly content and also allows for the newest vehicles to be used before the next full game (Veloster, Viper to name a few). Yes they will be in the next game, but there will also be even more cars added to the next game.

Edit: Using the crappy leveling system rather than the licensing system as in past GT games makes it the same as GTs of the past? What about the paint chip system? Poorly implemented B-spec mode? Poor track creator system? Limited use of Top Gear, NASCAR, WRC licenses? Standards and Premiums? I certainly do remember the awesome past GT games having all these things.

You're right about the DLC cars. In ways they're like previews for the next game, and I really like that. Its just what Turn 10 pulled with FM3, is what got me to not get them.

I agree with you about the GT5 parts. I just hope B-Spec and that awful level system on events and cars is finally gone.

Except GT and Forza are not different games as they're both trying to be console exclusive simulators. I'm not sure how GT changing to become more modernized is a bad thing, since the majority of complaints stem from GT doing the same things as they always have.

As far as DLC is concerned, GT has nailed it with tracks but is entirely lacking with cars. Without even setting Forza as the bar, GT5 lacks within the standards of DLC. A handful of new cars have been added with a heaping side of Skylines and race mods. People accuse T10 of being greedy with their DLC, but GT5 is greedy in the sense that their DLC is more aligned with Kaz's own interests and not the community's.

Ah ha! I don't agree with this, and it's probably why those are begging for some kind of information. PD is usually on the dot when the community says theres something wrong, minor fixable stuff.. sometimes. But don't forget, we're a fan of this game for a reason. A this game is Kaz's vision, not the communities vision. It always has been, that's why those support it. If Kaz's vision/interests were broken, GT as a franchise wouldn't be GT.

But they are two different games. Completely. Forza is about the online community itself, and showing off your personal tastes. GT is about the cars and the environment they exist in. That's how I see it.

But to be honest, as much as I support the rare DLC for GT5, I completely oppose the DLC idea and how it's mostly pushed. Call me an old man, but I personally like the way of the last generation of home consoles. But then again, i'm sure if the community didn't beg for DLC, that DLC wouldn't have been spawned. Turn10 on the other hand, prepares for charged DLC in very short and timed increments. It's a marketing plan.

A vision that seems to be (for me) moving away from that of the series to date, more than enough exists within GT5 that is almost totally alien to the series that it has resulted in a title that has failed to move GT forward in the right ways.

Even assuming this were true, that doesn't make them different games at all. It would make them two approaches to producing the same type of game. To be rather blunt about it if GT is all about the cars and the environment they are in (and if this is such an alien concept to Forza) would you please explain why GT is the title with the split down the car and track lists as far as quality is concerned, why sounds are still a long way from how they should be and why the physics engine still needs major work.

I would have thought that any title that focused on the car and its environment would have made sure that the tracks and cars were all of a consistently high quality and that the physics were moved on at least at the pace of the key competition.

DLC is a double edged sword and I agree with you that it can be a rather big negative, however it is always optional.

I would also agree that T10 do plan the release of DLC, however aside from that I have not regretted buying a single bit of the FM4 DLC. The same can not be said for GT5's DLC, Route X was quite frankly poor value and the paint-chips is money grabbing at its most extreme. The only part of GT5's DLC I have found worthwhile has been Spa.

I am personally of the opinion that if the FM4 DLC was released in the eact same manner and for the exact same price by PD for GT5 then it would be seen as manna from heaven. In my opinion the issue a lot of people actually have with FM4 DLC is not the release schedule, or the content or the price, but simply that its not been released for GT5 by PD.
