I believe the term came from teh original clear signal guys and for some reason graduated to being used when altezzas came out? I dunno, that's just a guess. Personally, I like the "euro" look, but I don't like altezzas or clears, for tails. At the same time, I don't like completely clear "signal" lenses either. (it's alright on some cars) I have genuine euro corner signals in the front of my MX3. They have a clear reflector, but have a little bit of amber reflective material around the clear light inside, so in the daytime, it's clear with a hint of orange and at night, it's kindof a "cleaner" orange. For my front side-marker lights, I did the next closest thing, got clear reflectors and put an orange bulb behind. (have been too lazy to heat them, pull them apart and paint the inner housing) Now go to the rear of the car and I won't touch it, I just don't think it matches. The reason, IMO, why it looks good up front is because the headlights are clear, so it makes the whole front end look cleaner. But in the rear, you have colored lenses, so changing just a side or signal lense back there to clear, it just doesn't match to me. (and as I said before, I don't really care for altezzas or clears in the back, so.. -one exception can be made, the ones for miatas are cool)
peace,

ummm....nope

The term Altezza actualy came from the Toyata Altezza ,which has the now popular altezza lights...which is why we now call them altezza's

Yeah, it's too bad Mistu didn't put something like the RSX engine in the Lancer or something. Something with 180 hp even would have been better.

sorry to burst youre bubble ,but the focus only has 110 hp, so it is conservative too. Unless the Canadian models are not limited to the exhaust emissions? are they? If not I should of bought mine in Canada ...heh heh . The feddies here blame the ozone and air pollution on cars when infact 75% of the worlds pollution comes from jetliners and factories and oil refineries,go figure.

Have you looked at the specs for the US version of the Mitsubishi Lancer?
Its ashame that Mitsu brought the Lancer over in such a detuned state of performance. This will for sure give the Lancer a bad rep for the tuners here in the US.
Compare figures for the Japanese spec to the US and you will know what I mean.
Not knocking the Lancer, nice looking, aggressive styling, but no kick in the pants. :D
Btw, the Malibu sport version will run rings around the Lancer in its top line form. Lancer will run maybe low 16's in the 1/4 and the Malibu's have been known to run mid15's.
Sorry for the bubble burst.

I love the Sentra Se-R's. Nice performance figures and dont need a lot of mods to make faster.
Compared to the new ones, everyone likes the older SE-R's much better.
Nissan seems to be having a problem with having their horse power figures on the new Altima's and the new SE-R's.
Super Street, SportCompact magazines just dont see those figures like Nissan gives them.
Love your car man. Lets see some specs for it and some track times. :D

no bubble bursted here...i won the car in a contest at work..and I am saving up for a turbocharger to slap on it..comp ratio is 9:5:1 so i hope it will work...as for the handling it is good, my brothers cavalier ,which is a 2002 also , cant handle as good as my car. as for the malibu,it is more for old people, looks to much like the prism and impala. so even if it does 20 more hp ,that still wouldnt sway my decision..heh heh

I have front and rear anti sway bars. too bad the malibu didnt,it might be a more allaround performer then. I seen one in a magazine that had a single turbo and it flew low 13's high 12's. Cant wait to see what I can do with a Kkk turbocharger...lotta money though it will take 3 yrs of saving to pay for parts labor, and maybe some modifications.

I wasn't aware of any magazines modding the US Lancer yet. Are you sure you didn't see a Lancer Evo in the magazine. Or were you talking about a Malibu in a magazine with a turbo?? The US Lancer is nothing but a prettier Mirage, sorry.

and the Focus has a 130hp, 2liter engine... all the Focis come with that engine, except the SVT which has 170hp...

no it was a malibu, nonsense,, the mirage has a thinner front end and the interior is definatley different.different motors also. Thats like saying the Ford Focus is a Prettier Aspire...heh heh.

not very ford friendly anyway...heh heh. the only thing they can manufacture that wont fall apart in 2 yrs is the mustang. they have a very bad record with the newer escorts, tempos and taurus not to mention the nightmarish thunderbird lineup, looked nice but the front ends would tend to become loose fiting after a while. the trucks are fine though im not into anything that sits high enough on the road that a cat gets a backrub from the tranny ;)

used to like chevy, but they havent come up with anything new or innovative, just punchin down the old cookie cutter and slingin out 4 or 5 vehicles that are so similiar that they can use the same engine...weird

im off of my soapbox now...heh heh

Yes, but the Focus offers more than just visual improvement over the Aspire. The Lancer is a replacement for the Mirage, even though they are still selling them as two doors I believe. "different motors" Your damn right they got different motors! Sure, you can get a Mirage with a 1.8l pushing 113hp, but why, when you can get the Lancer OZ Rally Edition which has a 2.0l pushing 120hp. No matter which way you slice it, the Lancer is and always will be (well, at least until they give it some power to back up the sporty look) a prettier Mirage.

MitsubishiLancer, way to go on the performance goals.
I agree, they are a bit slow from the factory, but with the right tuning, can be made very fast.
On the Lancer being a prettier Mirage, they are two separate platforms so I dont see how it can be prettier. If anything, the Lancer will have much more potential than the Mirage any day. :D Look at the dominance of the Lancer Evolution in rallying and road racing events, not bad. Cant ever remember a Mirage doing that.
MitsuLancer, nice free car for sure and youve got a wonderful platform to start on. :)
Good luck in your plans and happy modding.

Well I have to retort in saying that your reference to the Lancer Evo in comparison to the US Lancer is much like the comparison I made of the Mirage and US Lancer. They really share little, if anything at all. The Lancer has always been the Japanese equivelant to the Mirage. Mitsubishi introduced the Lancer name in the US this year to start a new, and discontinue the 4 door Mirage. Also, by introducing the Lancer name, they can create some kind of buzz for the supposed arrival of the EVO for next year. So basically, the argument is that this car should have more potential just because it is called "Lancer". Now if our Lancer shared suspension with the EVO and even a non-turbo 4G63, then I think we could say it has more potential than the old Mirage.

To MitsubishiLancer

I am in no way bashing the Lancer. Thats great that you have big plans for your car. :)

I was going to wash my car today too, but of course, rain is in the forecast tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get a week without rain sometime.

1992 Accord LX, 5 speed.

Very nice car, almost 180,000 miles now i think, maybe 190,000, i haven't been paying attention :P. No major problems from it yet, just little stuff like door handles falling off and needing new cables for the battery and such. The funniest thing about the car is that compaired to any of my friends cars it is fast :). Automatic Protoges, Ford Rangers, Hyundais and Kias arent much competition for a Honda though :P.

I'm hoping that after college I can buy a Civic Si or maybe an SVT Focus. If I have to live in the car for a while thats fine with me :).
