That's right, we're it baby! GTPlanet's official podcast! JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON

BAM

That just happened.

I decided to start a simple new podcast in order to efficiently (well, that's the plan) and consistently cover all the news that's going to be pouring out of the ether on GT6 leading up to its release, as well as all the cool happenings in and around the world of GT too!

I asked Tornado to hop on board and he said, "Ride or die" or "yes" or something and so we recorded the first episode yesterday!

First episode is dedicated to covering E3 and all the juiciness that's come about from it.

Pretty much, the idea is that, we'll be offering this show as a different and less hands-on way (I mean, 'cause who wants to go clicking and reading through tons of links these days anyway? PSHT) of digesting your vital GT6, and related, news. Think of it almost as an audiobook for these forums and the greater sphere that covers all things Gran Turismo.

We hope you can give this first shot of ours a listen and we'll take it from there! Feedback is more than welcomed.

Description from our Libsyn and FB pages:
Bi-weekly Gran Turismo series podcast. Breaking news, exclusive interviews with key GT community figures, wrap-ups, in-depth discussion, analysis, and commentary.

We keep a more relaxed, fun, and to-the-point approach to covering the world of GT.

Hosted by Eddie (Wardez)* and Logan (Tornado)*, two of the most genius philanthropic and stunningly awful podcast hosts this side of Cape Ring.

Wardez, known for his highly active participation in the online racing GT5 community, being a 2012 GT Academy Silverstone finalist, and generally wasting time.

Tornado, dropping knowledge with no regard for human life since 1993. Dedicated logician, complete with tact. Knows GT almost as well as you'd know your own dog, that is if you yell at him/her a lot and scathe it for ******** on the carpet. Otherwise, he's one of the most helpful and well-versed GT community members you'll find. Also quite good at Jenga.

We'll also bring up the occasional tangent off-topic discussion. Ranging in relevance anywhere from Kazunori Yamauchi's dreamstate to the latest teen celebrity downfall. We love motorsport, random nerdage, and video games, so yeah, there's that too.

The nets can never have enough podcasts. ;)

But in this case I'm serious. And it will be interesting to hear Tornado wearing a commentator's hat.

Epic! I'll be listening to this tonight.

I remember there were a few podcasts made in the GT4 photomode forums a few years ago. I'm trying to remember who did it... But they did a very good job. 👍

Thanks. Yeah that would be cool to find out who they are and to give those old episodes a listen. I can easily imagine them doing a great job if they were awesome enough to start a podcast back then.

I did two or three photomode podcasts back then. But GT4 photomode was already on a decline, and I was still young and bold so they weren't any good :P

I did them right after MistaX did his general GTP podcasts with a picked member from the forum, but sadly he quit that one as well after a few episodes. I liked his concept of interviewing a member and going through topics with them.

Very well done, Wardez and Tornado. 👍

Took a couple bus commutes to get through it, but was a great listen. Will probably listen a 2nd time soon, as well as eat up future efforts.

Thanks guys.

As of now we're aiming to record the main show every two weeks with random show specials scattered around randomly in between. Tomorrow I'm gonna record one of these specials with oink83 where we'll be talking about the community around GT and how it may grow, not only in online racing, but ideas such as the GPS data feature (which could spawn whole websites dedicated to it alone really), creat-a-championship shareable seasonals and that whole evolution, GT Academy, and others.

So yeah, splitting it up to where the specials will be discussion only and the regular bi-weekly shows being updates and news with analysis and commentary.

Thanks for sitting through it with us Grav! Glad we could keep you company on your commute . Sorry you had to deal with the volume being all low and the quality being on the low side. That'll definitely be fixed from now on ;)

Here are the shownotes:

First of all I just wanted to take this opportunity to bring further awareness and condolences to the tragic fate of Allan Simonsen, a GTE driver in this year's Le Mans 24 hours, who lost his life early in the race. Godspeed.

Welcome to the debut of our concurrent special edition podcast, RPS Chicane.

Meant for extended discussions (don't worry, the first episode of the regular show was a one-off accident since we were so excited to get started, the future episodes will be much more succinct) with different guest hosts or interviews each time. The format will vary greatly from episode to episode, think of it as an awesome box of podcast simulating chocolates.

In this episode, I had the incomparable sir, Paul aka Oink83. Awesome GT broadcaster, race commentator, Youtuber, podcaster, shock jock, all-rounder. You can check out all of his different presences on the interwebs in the shownotes here.

Our discussion revolved mostly around the future of GT6, with some emphasis on expanding GT's community and its relations with it. We bring up lots of ideas, some self-admittedly clever, but it was mostly dominated by absurd dreamchasing and hyperbole.

We had a lot of fun and now... little man... I give the fun to you.

Intro song:

Lana Del Rey - Ride (Barretso Remix)

Outro song:

Birdy Nam Nam - Defiant Order (Breakbot Remix)

Thanks Paul, it was really fun having you on again. Don't slouch, must do it again soon!

Working on getting Racer X, Armen himself on this week. Then, of course, Tornado and I will be doing the regular show this Friday to wrap up the past two week's news.

Show notes:
Eddie Gomez and Logan King - action news team special investigation unit... club...

HERE TO GIVE YOU THE LATEST SCOOPS ON GT6. And boy is there a LOT this week!

15th Anniversary special edition announcement, GT Academy 2013 announcement. They doused this hot news all over us like a bad waiter. Are we complaining? Certainly not! We want MORE! And we're sure you do too. As the title of this episode says, we're definitely right on the cusp of starting off on our first real taste of GT6 with the demo incoming in just a couple days. Then, at the same time, PD will trigger the proverbial shot into the sky letting us know the mad chase for GT Academy 2013 is on, no pressure btw.

But for now, sit back, make yourself a proper cup of tea, and relax - it's time to get your dose of GT6 updates.

Intro music: Black Light Dinner Party - Lift Away

*show correction. Eddie mistakenly said that the band consumed "hundreds" of beers and that they were named "Moone." As you can see by watching the video, you'll notice the band members are in fact still alive, making the error clear. Slap a zero off of his sloppy number belching and everyone will live happily ever after. Thank you for your cooperation.

Enjoying listening 👍 though at the six minutes mark "PD has promised something substantial when the video reaches 5 million views" I don't remember them ever saying it was something substantial..? all I remember them saying was "GT6 content"

Could I get a source on where they said it was substantial?

12:50 The cars are available in game for everyone but pre-ordering gives them to you immediately, it's the liveries that are exclusive.

Thanks for pointing that out. Just a word I pulled out in the heat of the moment pretty much, wasn't read from an article or anything. My definition of "substantial" is on the weaker side though, haha. I'd deem something substantial as long as it's something we didn't know about the game previously, anything from a new car and/or brand, to a whole new hotly anticipated feature. We'll see!

But yeah, I should've said, " PD has promised an exclusive content reveal once the video reaches 5 million views."

Judging by the other rewards such as the 1 million reward given for Last of us which was just a wallpaper I believe? I wouldn't expect much, probably just a screenshot or two - I suppose we'll see

A screenshot will be substantial for me!

I didn't know that LoU had a similar content YT reveal, would've been good info to add to the show! I need to brief with you before recording with our notes Urie! xD

"12:50"
I couldn't put that across clearly enough, we were hovering around that definition a lot without landing on it, but recording late at night didn't do much for preserving a sense of integrity in reporting!
Will definitely work on it for future shows! :D

Thanks again Urie

 Well I have nothing better to do most nights.

Yeah the Last of Us was the first 'object' to be unlocked, however at 1,000,000 views I suppose it makes sense for it to be a very lackluster reward - especially so since the game was already out.

Time will tell.

It's also worth noting that the Pre-order bonuses/Anniversary edition content don't need to be cashed in immediately so it's entirely possible to keep the integrity of the game and starting from the ground up while also keeping the bonuses for later.

Don't report the news while tired and/or drunk.

Well, that's not necessarily true. While it is true that the cars included with the special editions of GT5 had codes that are still to this day valid, the preorder bonuses in comparison expired really quickly; and it's not uncommon for such codes (at least ones from Gamestop) to only be good for a month or so.

You're certainly not wrong - however I'd imagine most people would already be at a point where they'd be happy to cash these rewards in within a month.

So strictly speaking it's still true, it just means you're a bit limited in how long you can put it off. The alternative being if you still feel you don't deserve the rewards when time is nearly up you could cash the code in and then not touch the money and/or cars.

*shrugs* There's always a way

@Wardez At around the 50 minute mark when you're reading out the interview with Kaz you should really slow down and collect yourself, you seemed to trip over your words quite often and got carried away easily - it made it more difficult to follow you and remain engaged as you felt rushed and disinterested. I don't want to be a negative nancy I just thought I'd leave some constructive critique.

Calm, collected and engaged discussion makes it far more interesting to listen to - being somewhat 'dated' information it's easy to feel that everyone has heard this stuff and there's no need to spend a lot of time reiterating the story - however if you slow your pace down it gives off a much stronger feeling that you're really interested in the topic and will lead to more engaged debate. Giving your own opinion will certainly help reduce this feeling of repeating a dated story to people that have already read it themselves; I know you were doing this in parts but this again felt rushed.

I do hope this isn't too bold of me and I wouldn't want to impede on your show - I've just done this sort of thing in the past so I thought I'd give you my opinion.

Thoroughly enjoyed that 👍 great way to spend 2 hours :)
