Man, Deity of Drift, I kept reading through the entire post just to read what you said.

No one has the right talk about bad driving. I live in KENTUCKY. This is the state with the highest teenage death rate by driving. I don't even have a car yet. Insurance payments are going to suck.

I've always wanted to go to Japan, but I don't think that I would fit in. I'm not white but I'm a very dark Indian (Indian as in from india).(I live in Kentucky so it gets pretty bad over here). Man I need a car. I want something that I could learn the basics of driving and drifting in a decent car. Not an Ae86 because I have 20 dollars in my pocket right now and thats it.

God I need a nap.

lol highest death rate... dam... well i am pretty sure oakland... is fairly comprable to that... i mean we got drivebys and crazy gangstas... i swear too much gta3 and 4... anyways good luck getting your car... but dun kill yourself...

You mean to tell me you work at TRD? Do you happen to know who was involved in designing the TRD street springs for the AW11? I have a bone to pick with them.

I don't actually WORK for TRD, but when the mechanics at TRD get lazy, they send stuff to me. I was just lucky enough to work on the 2000/3000GT, what can I say... they like me?

In the US, TRD is kind of a joke. "Makers of fine shift knobs and hats", they say. TRD USA is mostly about appearance, except when it comes to trucks and sedans. Can you believe TRD USA makes a bolt-on Supercharger for the trucks and the Camry Solara, but not one Supercharger for a sports car like the MR-S or Celica? Sad...

You gotta be kidding me... damn that country sucks when it comes to performance. I bet there's a lot of GM and Ford performance everywhere... Camry Solara? What's that some kind of convertible Camry? If it's a Camry, TRD USA makes a S/C for it? No performance products for the sports Toyotas... truly a sad place to live now that I think about it...

Japan is great, but I've never seen somebody that looks like they're from India around here. Hmm, a cheap car that can teach you things... try out a Corolla SR5 (AE85), it might have 80ps, but it's RWD, and will get you where you need to go with great gas consumption. That car taught me the basics of driving and drifting. The SR5 has a 5MT so you won't have to worry about getting an automatic. If you have money left over, try out an aftermarket LSD for it so at least you will have both rear wheels spinning. Once you get used to that, and get some money, try out something like an S13, RPS13, or... any FR car that's decent.

Like JDM-AE86 said, my dad and I both have AE86 Trueno's. My best friend that lives with me has an AE86 Levin. Try out my site (http://deityofdrift.tripod.com). It has bad pictures, but that's all I have right now. My Trueno has an AE-101 Levin 20V 4A-G engine. I'm estimating it at 220ps. My dad's Trueno has a 3S-GTE and I don't know the power, but it's a lot more than mine. My best friend's Levin is a pure Formula Atlantic 4A-GE that pushes out 250ps @ 9,100RPMs. The thing that sucks for him, is that he spends half his paycheck on gas... 112 octane required baby! Mine runs fine on pump 103.

Thanks Deity of Drift. I was thinking of something along a AE85. I know someone with a 92 corolla so by the time I get a license hopefully he'll be selling it. It's cool because I know his parents really well so they would probably let me get it. I need 100 post s too. I have a picture ready for me to get but I'm so lazy and I hardly get on so this is probably going to take a while. I'll just go drift in GT3. Blow some time.

The AE85 is a great learner's car. Since you don't have your license yet, this is a great first car. A 1992 Corolla is not an AE85, but in fact an AE92. This has the same 4A-GE but it's FWD. But, if you want to learn shift techniques (heel-toe), it's a great car to learn from. You can most likely get an AE85 for cheaper than the AE92. The advantage of that? RWD is the only one I can think of.

Man, some people pissed me off on a different post. Apperantly, most people think drift is just for fun and has no real purpose in racing... It's funny they say this because they most likely have no license, or no real skill in drifting... My post is long but it's great. Check it out at: http://gtplanet.net/forum/t-26282.html . I showed them off...

-Tom

most of these "kids" c drifting as entertainment, and most americans do, they c no purpose in it whatso ever, have any of them drifted in a real car...NO, have they drifted in GT3, Yes, thast a difference, GT3="racing simulation", Drifting in a car=Real life, drifting is an art form of sorts, Japan has races in which drifting is a major part of, in the US they drive in circles also called NASCAR, another retarded thing found in the US, also theres F1 racing, also known as KART, that i have to say uses skill, but to say driftiin is slow, stupid, and serves no purpose, well then ur jsut bein a reatrd

i was at the same post a while back... tried to defend my view... saying that drifting has its place and that its not only fun...

so did lan evo... but alas when faced up against a mod and a his dum side kick red eye racer... we stand no chance... that thread made me increadibly angry... something i have never been on gtp...

i mean there are people who think it takes no skill...

Well, that post gives me a headache. Then some guy comes in using a mathematical equation... give me a break... Well at least the people here respect it for what it is...

-Tom

Some people are too ignorant to see the whole picture, I guess.

I have never drifted a car before, and I just turned to the legal age of driving. I can't wait to get my license, but my parents are restricting me. When I get my first car though, I'm going to go to a race track and start pumping. Before that, I may need to go to automotive classes to learn :)

Well, before you really start racing... try out doing some shift techniques on a deserted road or a road where not many people drive on. And if you get a car, make sure it's RWD.

-Tom

no no that was physics... and i am a mechanical engineer in training... and physics is our friend... without it we couldnt even make fast cars...

deserted road int he bay area... does on exist... i know of deserted business parking lots...he he he

hey thio, that sounds like how my parents were... didnt want me to get a car... still dont have my own... technically... i have always wnated to go to tracks tho...

y only rear wheel diety... y not 4wd... 4wd = snowability...
too bad you didnt have your liscense you couldave done mazda rev it up...

oooooooooo........ no i am gonna design airplanes or cars.... although restoring cars would be a great hoby/business i do not plan on being a mechanic... i plan on being a nechanical engineer... you know someone who designer the mechanics of things... like engines... suspesion systems... steering systems... actually i plan on mastering in aeronautics...

My parents are thinking about me getting a permit, so there's hope :) My dad let me parallel park this Taurus that we were renting from the airport in front of out house. It was fun, especially at 4 in the morning :D

well it seems as if my english has degraded... but its atually just because i cannot type for crap...

no prob thio.... how old are you... still in hs... so what grade... hey what hs do you go to in san jose

oh saint francis... lol... i went to sh.... i think your pwoplw kicked our peopls asses in everything that we played you in... cept for basket ball maybe... lol... do you know of sacred heart cathedral preparatory in the city... not in the penin... this has got to be the greatest thread of all time

BTW what occupation are you interested in... mech eng or restoring cars...

Most likely in mechanical engineering, but it may change. I still need to dig up some more information about it. I'm doing this research on my own because I'm also looking into being a biotech person also *shrugs*

Sacred Heart Cathedral? Doode, your tennis team gets to play on the roof of the San Francisco Tennis Club! It was so fun hitting the balls over the fence and hitting people down below with tennis balls
