Ok we're talking about the real world here. Not 9th grade. Unless you're held at gun/knife point in a robbery you won't have anyone just randomly threaten you. And in the situation you're held up at gun or knife point, knowing how to throw a jab will do you very little good.

Exactly. And these instances will be few and far between. I would be suprised if you were in this kind of situation more than twice in your life (as long as you are smart about it). And in those few times, the Police should suffice for whatever you would lose. And if you cooperate, you will not get hurt.

Who will care that you were popular in high school? I can't even remember the names of the popular kids at my school. Why should anyone care about you being suspended twice? Most of the kids who got suspended at my school went on to flourishing careers flipping Ronald's finest cuisine. Fighting? I haven't got into a fight since I was 13 - not to mention that fights outside of school get you put in prison, especially if you do it enough to be "good" at it.

I'll gloss over skating quite quickly. For the life of me I don't know how you expect that'll help you with anything other than frequent trips to the orthodontist, following face-plants, but never mind.

Too true. I left college in 2002 and since then the people that were considered to be "cool" are now friends with people that were considered "uncool". It's really funny how things turn out, and when you look back, you realise the "uncool" and "cool" situation is actually really stupid and doesn't really benefit anyone.

This is a pretty large misconception amongst the younger people I know.
If you need "good fighter" abilities to fight off someone drunk enough to start fights for the sole reason of starting fights, you're doing something wrong. And if you're the one starting fights drunk, you're not gonna be using said fighting skills, you're gonna be swinging your fists wildly and wondering why your face hurts the next morning.

What I also find interesting is that after high school people grow up, and the “cool” kids (********s from my POV) actually have some perspective and often have changed their ways and are actually nice genuine people (i.e. they’re actually cool now).

Not to mention the fact that I’m already earning more money than them doing only part-time work and have confirmed full time work in a field I love next year. The real world rocks.

Well, that was the first time we hung out by ourselves. we've known each other for a long time, so that made it completely comfortable.
