I would be very surprised if the FIA continue to endorse this product

How can the highest level of motorsport body in the world support such a ridiculous so called simulator. It can only make them look bad.

Another challenger appears to moan about gts. And the world still turns. If you don't like it simply play something else. Getting bored of this.

I don't see how GT Sport would change without FIA labels.

I love your username. I guess you just made an account just to say that you're disappointed with GTS. Correct?
Yes, very correct, you can see it immediately, why can't they

I don't see how GT Sport would change without FIA labels.
Fair point

It is by far the most popular racing game on the PS4. You just have to look at the official forums for Assetto Corsa and Project Cars to see how few daily posts they have.

Personally am absolutely loving it. The new GT500s are particularly good.

The FIA ceased to care about the "sport" aspect of motorsport many years ago.

If they think they can make cash out of it they do not care in the slightest.

Racing games and car culture in general are dying. It's a fact. Now, if you want the most realistic sim, sure GT is not the right choice. But if you look for a middle ground with a solid userbase, then GT is the perfect choice.
Keep in mind that in the eSport world, the most realistic games are not the most popular.

Good call

Why don't you simply not look at it then, you just made the champion quote of the day

Makes sense, everything is a business at the end of the day

I would say it's because they have a much wider and long-term vision of trying to encourage young people to take an interest and/or participate in motorsports in general than perhaps you are considering.

There seems to be plenty of exposure in all sorts of motoring and gaming websites across the internet on the topic.
So I doubt they are reconsidering the collaboration just yet.

Does FIA even care??

Sony and PD came to FIA with bags of money.

At the end of day its all about the money.
... and to others here suggesting it's some sort of cash cow for the FIA because SONY has deep pockets, you'll probably need to try again and find another reason because it's been said many times that it was the FIA who approached PD with this idea.

I cant believe that anyone feels a worldwide sporting body gives two craps about any 'game' at all.

Do you think the IOC gives a crap about the number of Olympic based games over the last two decades? What about FIFA?

Most of them have much bigger fish to fry.

To turn it around, would the FIA be better served by Project Cars or Forza?

Them mario vs sonic at the olympics games might be case point. But yeah the do care about their games though.

That's a reasonable opinion, I can only agree with that

Based on what says they're dying? There are plenty of racing games about with more coming out that weren't in the market before, there is more rally games than I've seen in some time, AC became the official Blancpain game, Dakar just got it's own game, and so on and so on. Car culture dying is strange to mention since that encompasses many things with in it, and would take even more effort to prove.

As for eSports, what exactly makes a game popular on the platform? Considering one of the most popular games in eSports currently makes an effort to be realistic. And it isn't the first nor last to be such.

To put in 70 thousand kilometres, be ranked in the highest level, be in the top 100 worldwide for race wins, then have two races ruined by fools and get demoted to D and E is a disgrace. Then to have to endure pathetic gaming and string together 10 consecutive wins to even get close to where you were is wrong. I really hate when something so good can be ruined by people who are employed in areas they shouldn't be

This threads caught me in grump old bloke mood so I'm going to have to (within the AUP) unload on some of the rather inaccurate statements made in here.

First off the FIA will continue to support GTS just as it has done and continues to do so with a number of other titles, because it makes sense to do so. That's right GTS is not the first FIA endorsed title (the wording is very careful, GTS is the first with events created and endorsed by the FIA, hence the made up Gr4 and Gr3 rather than GT4 and GT3. As both the F1 series and WRC series have had FIA endorsed eSport events running for a while now, with the WRC ones being in the third full year. Oh and Forza is used as the platform for the Formula E eSport championship.

Nor does that prove that the FIA is 'only in it for the money' and 'doesn't care about Motorsport', sorry but name a sports governing body inside or outside of Motorsport that doesn't have to care about money! If you don't care about money then you don't exist for very long, and your not a lot of good to anyone! As for not caring about Motorsport, well for a group of people who don't give a toss they seem to be supporting, organising and managing the safety and well-being of a lot of people at all levels of Motorsport across the globe. Odd way of not giving a **** about it.

I also utterly disagree with claims that realistic titles have not been dominant in motor-racing eSport, they most certainly have and attempting to draw what seems to be a comparison to FPS's is a false equivalency. The two most popular title for the last five or so years have been iRacing and Project Cars in the global motor-racing esports series, I don't recall the last time that either Wipeout or Mario Cart offered up a serious challenge to them in that regard.

Its quite simple from an eSport point of view consumers (both drivers and viewers) prefer a more realistic approach, the FIA support a number of eSport series, across multiple titles and platforms for very good reasons. As such getting your knickers in a twist about the FIA licence for any title (and then attempting to use that as a whipping stick for the FIA themselves) is not only evidence of a poorly considered argument, but a rather biased one at that.

And I don't even really like GTS.

Oh and car culture isn't dying, its changing, I've literally sat in on numerous presentations on this subject, delivered one and written an internal paper on this very subject this month alone.

This exactly. How ‘realistic’ a game is is debatable. Playing a game, no matter how true to life, is very different from getting behind the wheel of a real race car. The game may show talent, but there’s a lot more involved, particularly physically, behind an actual wheel. What a game can do is instill passion for racing in a young generation. Just because you’re not having fun because of the way safety ratings/rules work doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea to promote motorsports.

The FIA..:lol: they are just like PD. They banned the T-Wings and Shark fins because they wanted more beautiful cars. And then put a halo on top of it.
Just like PD does. They say they'll make the penalty system better, and then a update comes and it much more worse. So i think The FIA and PD love each other!:banghead:

Doubt FIA is even aware of the atrocious penalty system this game has.

True, well said
