Deal nearly done with a porting partner for console versions. Expected to start work in the next few weeks, release hopefully sometime next year (probably late Q3 or Q4).

Sadly I do think that lessens the chance of VR2 support if the devs aren’t handling the port themselves.

I wonder if this is in response to Project Motorsport - those two seem to be heading in similar directions (although starting from different perspectives)

Don't think it's related. They just seem to be in an improved financial state, so can expand things now the 1.0 release is out.

Finally got to play LMU.

My first impressions are very good. Excellent force feedback, excellent driving feel. I'm impressed. The FFB is on par with the original AC and iRacing and feels superior to ACC (which I never liked that much). Don't get me wrong I love ACC but the force feedback is not great.

My only complaint is that the DLC's are pricey. Very few tracks are included in the base release.

But this was much better than excepted. Wow. This game deseves its own section here at GTPlanet.

Have you not used rF2? It's just a focused rF2 on WEC with a new UI and other niceties. The physics and the FFB are pretty much all there. It's pretty good but I'm looking for single player championships before it gets more of my time. AMS2 has more of my time with similar content and the championships so you can get in a quick 3-5 race championship and have fun on your own time.
Here's some more sim focused forums you can try:

Sure I have played RF2 but mostly just vintage F1 cars. The original RF I played for years... but always disliked all the menus on the RF2 and never really got into it and AC1 was always there. I know RF2 has good FFB but I didn't realize LMU uses the same.

I have played AC EVO too and I still find the original AC1 FFB better. If the LMU developers have kept the good and proven FFB... well that simply makes sense. Don't fix it what ain't broken.

None of the damper settings do anything for my wheel. At 0 or 100 it's all the same. I assume something is wrong with a lot there. I don't like the FFB either in ACEVO but there isn't a chance in cold hell that they'll leave it like that. It's not very detailed yet. And right, I don't like the menus in rF2 either. Even after the fact that they changed them but selecting AI for a race is enough to have a mental breakdown and the in race car setup menu is horrid as well. Not a label or description in sight. You better know what you're doing.

No, they stated very early on that they want to release on consoles. But they never comitted to it due to their financial struggles the past two years.

I would assume we will have a situation similar to the console versions of ACC. Same game but not always on the most up-to-date state (and no cross play)

EVO should do the same thing as LMU and simply use AC1 FFB. In my opinion it's still the best FFB of all sims... and why try to fix something that has always been one of the MAIN attractions of AC1?

iRacing, AMS1 and rF2/LMU FFBs are very good too. If someone says any of those are better no argument here... I've just so familiar with AC1. And surprisingly, RBR has very good FFB as well. It's quite embarrassing that a 20 year old rally game can do better FFB than many modern sim developers, huh?
