Just as you would expect, a mini Sonata/i45.

That's an Elantra. Looks pretty good. 👍

Upgrading the Accent would be like polishing a turd.

Looks a bit TOO much like the Sonata, I feel. Needs SOMETHING to differentiate it from the others...

It's pleasing enough on the eye, I suppose.

I know and you all know that I'm a bit weird, but hear me out - am I the only one who sort of preferred the old, teeny bit crap but kind of characterful Hyundais? I know they've come on in leaps and bounds but as a company it feels like they're just churning out millions of the same car in different sizes now rather than "a range". I used to quite like the days when a Sonata was the cheapest brand-new V6 you could buy (in the UK at least), and the Coupe/Tiburon was curvy like a Cola bottle, and if you squinted (a lot) the Accent MVi looked like their WRC car...

Funnily enough, I feel the complete opposite with Kias, which are basically the same as Hyundais under the skin. The newer ones are so much more desirable (if that's the right word...) than the older ones.

It could work. When I was running the other day a new Sonata went by, and it looked better out in the "real world" versus the PrePro that was at the auto show. Hyundai still needs to stand out, but in this segment, it could be a bit too much. Especially when the Golf and the Civic largely drive the barge in terms of substance and styling.

Yeah, I kind of like how the Accent GS looks. But I drive one of course. The rest of their lineup can rust in hell though. My car's chassis too. It's like a carnival ride.

Don't get me wrong, it's not ugly....... But it looks like a side of Toyota design I don't like merged with the side of Korean design I don't like. I hate the look of it. :yuck:

Actually, that's a new Accent/Verna. I was wrong about thinking it was an Elantra. Certainly looks like it's grown though.

Looks pretty good, but I'll pinch my nose until they prove that it's not made on the same platform they've been using forever. Because the old Accent is pretty terrible-awful.

Favorite "style". I think I agree.

Edit: The one in the pic, with the bug shield & custom wheels, it sort of reminds me of Lancia Delta.

A 'favorite' Elantra?

Does Not Compute!

I was about to say the same thing. Having a favourite style Hyundai is... a bit worrying.

Now that I think of it... I guess there actually was a human being who sat down and designed that old Elantra. Pretty scary thought.

That's perhaps a little harsh. By anyone's standards, this is a fairly good looking car. Even this one is pleasing on the eye to some, me included. And there's certainly nothing wrong with this.

I'd agree with the general sentiment that the Elantra pictured isn't styled too badly, though it's a long way short of what I'd call a good looking car.

And here's the new Elantra/Avante:

Looks damn good if you ask me. Hopefully the drag coeff. is super slippery.

Looks good... for a Hyundai. Nice to see they're differentiated a bit better from the Kia equivalents too. Though I'm not entirely sure what the Kia version of this is - the Forte?

And in other news, Persil has just unveiled a new washing powder.

I think the new Elantra looks even better than Sonata. Probably the best looking small sedan in the market. The wheels' design is boring though, but I can't wait to see how the interior is like.

Maybe 10 years ago. But as of now, I think the Genesis/Sedan & Equuis are all pretty good looking cars.
I feel I should be a little more specific with that post. I’m not a huge fan of anything up to 2004 (which you can actually buy in showrooms). Mclaren... All the cars you mentioned, I’d agree with. They’ve had a massive turnaround in the last couple of years, and I actually look forward to seeing those cars on the road. I saw an ix35 the other day. Made me turn my head. 👍

Looks good but I must say they've taken the whole flat ring around the fenders to a whole new level.

Best looking C segment car i have ever seen.

Korean spec(Avante) get's 1.6 GDI

Good for 138 hp
123 feet pound torque.

Us-spec model(Elantra) engine not known.
But i'm guessing it will get the 2.4 liter in the Forte

Good for 179-183. Good job hyundai, Once again
n.

The front of the car looks more like the Sonata. Should probably confuse me at one point to tell the difference between the two. But overall, NICE!

New Elantra and Sonata look beatiful, but what's even more beautiful is the huge progress that Korean manufacturers made since 80's-90's.
You can blame them for "not having a 100+ year history", "not being KEWL-BRAND" or whatever - but not for "not being a decent modern car".

-> I like the new Avante (nee Elantra), The front looks like a leaner, sexier version of the Tucson. While the rear looks like a Sonata w/ a sexy supermodel mod from Victoria Secret! Yup, Hyundai's are really, really serious! :scared:

-> Just give us the excellent Starex next, we need a new mid-size van back in the US.
