Um, guys...I kept on reading the thread, and the guy was checking the UPC code fro GT4 so no wonder it wasn't in the system.....call me overly optimistic, but I am holding out hope. I'll let you guys know if I hear anything from my friends.

Please do let us know considering you live in the same area as the IGN post. I'm itching to know what the hell is going on with the release date, I've heard about 6 different ones today alone. I'm just sticking with the 2/22 release date in my head that way there won't be any disappointment if it doesn't come on 1/18.

Unfortunately, the pre-order code for BB is just something they make up - it doesn't mean anything outside of BB computer systems, and they will never have the pre-orders in stock (they will have the actual games in stock - with a different UPC). The only UPC that can be looked up for inventory is the ACTUAL sony UPC which may or may not be the one posted on ign or wherever that terrible message board was.

Dunno about CC, but at BB we could check up on a UPC/Title and see if its "On Order" (Being shipped to our store).

Anyways about the whole CC rumor. The guy said later on in the thread that the box was opened and that he held it in his hand for a few minutes.

When I was buying a used copy of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, I asked an EB associate about the release date of GT4, he checked the comp and he said that it said Feb. 23rd. That was around a week ago. Not saying that that's the release date, just saying thats prolly why yall don't have the game yet. I think the Jan 18th date is bogus, although I wish it was true...

That sounds about right.
This game is very popular. If it was to come out on the 18th, there would have been advertisements on TV stating the fact, with websites, news articles, and press releases from Sony, IMO.

EDIT: Or they're keeping quiet on purpose in order to prevent the potential embarrassment of the last delay, IMO.

I'd bet the keys to my mustang (my baby) that its not coming out on the 18th. Sony's didn't forget to give millions of GT fans the release date of GT4.

I just don't get whats the hold up, its been out in Japan for 2 weeks now, if the game is complete, its complete... Translate the d@mn thing and throw it out on the shelf.

The latter sounds more realistic. I still think the reason there is no official release date up until now is because Sony is trying to avoid what happened the last time they said the game was finished and then delayed it.

I don't know about the less than 1 week of hardcore advertising thing, though. That seems to be the biggest reason not to believe the january release date. (although I spotted a commercial during the broncos-colts game on sunday)

As for it being in stock at CC - their inventory computer probably is set up to say they don't have any games in stock until the day they are set to sell them - otherwise people would order it for in-store pickup and then go down to the store the day before the game is released and b!tch because the computer told them they could pick the game up immediately.

BB's inventory would show items that haven't be released yet but are in our warehouse. CC might not be the same though.
