A great challenge and great fun!

I try to get away with minimum upgrades, so I'm taking my time. The STi was fun, and atm I'm a happy busy bunny with the Fiat challenge.

Anyone won this without a LSD (and corner cutting)? So far I got the power and weight to spec, a sports suspension and close ratio tranny. Hitting a 2:04 is possible - just not 4 times in a row

Awesome challenges.

First 2 are not too bad, with practice you can get them fairly quickly.

3rd one however took me the longest. I just completed it 1.8s in front, not cutting the corkskrew

My tips would be - stop focusing on tuning and just drive. Consistency is the key.

Also I had stock suspension and stock LSD in the Subaru! otherwise I found myself tweaking it after each race and wasting time.

I can post my setups for all 3 cars if anyone needs them.

My setups were one-shot. Only came back to readjust things like top speed in the Fiat. Then it's practice.

When you change the setup, you loose all the experience you were gaining on the previous one. You are starting form zero all over again.

If you are talking about the fiat one, i posted mine on page 15, only height adj. Shocks, standard lsd, and no turbos, with everything else plus cutting the chicane, i was 1/2 a sec ahead by the finish, passed him cutting the chicane

EDIT: I do not believe there is any real proof that anybody has posted (unless i missed it) that cutting the chicane is truly faster

I finally beat it, and I used Akira's tune, apart from not using the turbo and just installing the racing air filter.
My tip would be re-distribute the weight and use the auto transmission, I usually use manual, but you need to focus so much on your driving here. And shifting on the redline works in this case.

But the funny thing is, my laps were:
2.07.112
2.04.134
2.05.773
2.03.102,
and the last lap on which I caught the Audi was 2.04.091.
Maybe I got lucky, but I only had one lap under 2.04.

I spent now some hours on it & goldished all. Yay! 👍

DS3, automatic, ABS: 1 & TCS: 1-3, all cars fully tuned (except turbo's) & personally tuned. Stay smooth with the steering & accelator, tip the brakes before the corners & try to hold as much speed in the corners as you can.

It's not a piece of cake, especially if you don't play to much with comfort & sport tires (like me). It took me some hours to get used to it & to find a perfect car setup. But i've wanted to win the price lvl tickets & so i've challenged myself.

Don't give up, you will getting better from race to race. 👍

I suppose cutting the last chicane should be faster with no drawbacks.

Anyway, after a good nights sleep I golded the Fiat challenge with a 2:08.8 and four low 2:04s, 0.3 seconds ahead and overtaking the Audi coming out of the last corner. God that was fun. Ditched the LSD, just a sports suspension and close ratio tranny. 👍

Have those who have difficulties taking certain corners without braking with the Fiat 500 relocated some weight to the back of the car and configured spring rates accordingly to the changed weight distribution?

I did this with the Fiat 2 nights ago and was able to get it in a few tries. Now I'm working on the Elise. Man is it hard. I'm consistently .3-.8secs behind the leader.

Is it not possible to use an RM'd Elise for the Lotus seasonal?

I did search the thread before posting...

I used an RM'd Cappucino for the lightweight challenge so thought I would be fine with the RM for the Lotus. Both Elises I have are race modified.

What a evening, managed to win the Fiat race by 1.596 seconds then went to the STI race and aced it by 1.899 seconds with no tweeking. my heart is gonna POP!!!! Thank you GT for the best three races i have done since GT3!!!!!

Okay, I did the Fiat and Lotus events. I'm struggling at the Subaru one at the point i will, at the next failed attemp: throw my ps3 out of the window and run my car over/ or break the gt5 disc/ or break a controller/ or all these answers. I'm done with this ****** track, trying to make a brick turn.

Finally beat the 500 race using DS3 and Akira's set-up

As you can see almost lost it in the end. Traffic makes this race doubly hard but yes, not impossible. Never have I been more frustrated and fulfilled by a video game for as long as I could remember. PD 👍

Camber is the key to the lotus,take all aids off and add camber leave turn abs to 10 and both brakes to 10 and drive it in deep, I can't do better than 2nd, if there was no traffic it'd been done a long time ago

Don't worry. The first time i ran this i slowly fell farther behind the pack. The next time i got 3rd, the time after 2nd. Still chasing the elusive gold though... Just be GENTLE with the throtle to control the back end and as its be said be smooth.

Same here, but with persistence I've reduced the gap in the Fiat to under 9 seconds!

The Lotus.... embarrassing.... I can't keep the thing straight. I drop further back as the game goes on.... I thought I might get lapped!

The Subaru is much nicer, got 5th pretty early.... but still have to find 5 seconds a lap somewhere!

I guess people using DS3 is struggling a lot, I use a DFGT.

64Hp 1005 kg - Drivetrain upgrades, carbon hood, BBS rims and some areo (just for good looking). 5 gears transmision.

From what I saw you have to break slightly in 3-4 corners, use manual transmision is a must as you can play with downshift to slow car a bit without using breaks, be smooth and overtake in the right places without losing time.

You can reach and overtake the A2 in the left hand corner (lake) before the final S.

SHIRAKAWA Akira's setup worked for the Fiat 500 race, beat by over 3 seconds. The only thing that was changed was the gears were set to 110mph instead of max. 👍

Mad props to everyone on the forum for handing out car-tunes like candies from the back of a van.

These past two weeks have certainly been an eye-opener for me in regards to GT5 - and it's made me appreciate the game on a whole new level. After feeling that an improvement of 5-6 seconds per lap in the Fiat was impossible - I turned the aids off - and BAM - times started improving. When I noticed that I was over a second slow on the Tsukuba circuit with nothing left to give - I changed the camera from bumper to roof and won - easily. Getting to within less than two seconds to the last Skyline at Laguna Seca, driving on the edge for 8 minutes was really starting to get to me - and I thought all tricks were used up - but no - GTP Forums to the rescue. An alternate tune (Bresiu) had the solution - less power to the back wheels - and lap times dropped by half a second a lap.

A huge thank you to all - you guys rock! And to people still frustrated by the events - if I can gold them - anyone can - and the controller still works too - apparently it can really take some punishment.

I love these events. Really challenging with great prizes.

I found the FIAT to be pretty easy relatively speaking. With a few minor tunes (mostly to transmission) I managed to win this in just a few tries.

The Lotus was a much bigger challenge. Lots of tuning and 10-12 tries finally got me the win but it was close. The car and track were fun so the sense of satisfaction I got for winning was huge.

The Subaru is giving me a challange as well. I'm getting the tune closer to what I need but I'm still a few seconds from catching that last guy.

I'm using the Fanatec wheel with no assists BTW.

Exactly, no handouts! Thats the very reason I like them. I think all my driving for the last 3 months or so was purely for money and very predictable. This challenge brought me back down to earth.

I won the Fiat 500 Seasonal on my first try, and without looking here before I figured out that the "trick" is to exploit the regulations to the maximum by rebalancing the weight distribution to the back and adjusting suspensions accordingly. This allows to use all tires more efficiently.

Also, after installing a Low RPM turbo and using the power limiter to 66 hp, the car should be competitive.
