We're in the US in September, but unfortunately on the wrong side

Might find some cheap airfare with Jet Blue from the East coast.
Northern California, San Francisco Bay Area. Aussies are welcome too! Bring some shrimp for the BBQ. :sly:

Oh, and if everyone is up for it we can do a Karting event on Sunday in Fremont, CA. at Lemans Indoor Karting.

Ok, so obviously I've not indulged in the boredom of the limited car selection, track selection and the possibility of having your online races ruined by a couple of unknown punters :yuck: that is GT5:P, so I'm still voting for a GT4 only event. 👍

I can host again, have no problem with that, however, BBQ space is non-existant here (as is an actual BBQ!) and it'll depend on how many folks we have interested. 12 folks was fun, but kind of a squeeze.
If Leland is volunteering his space, that's great too.
I'd much prefer to keep it with either one of us in our own personal space which we can account for, rather than in a random autoshop of an unknown person as I'm personally not comfortable leaving my PS2/TV/Wheel in that sort of environment.

On thing we should make very clear is that the event is open to registered :gtplanet: members only.
If your wife's, brother's, friend's, cousin's Uncle who has heard of GT4 wants to come and play, he should at least have a little experience and race as cleanly as we all expect (RadRacing level at least! :p) as there's nothing worse than having a close battle between good drivers ruined by an overenthusiastic noob going into every bend.

I'm up for July, August or October for sure, but I have my Brother & his family staying for the first 2 weeks of September, so that's out.
Late September I can work with.

Who is organising the race events?

I was making some suggestions on the cars and tracks when Leland appointed me but feel free to take the lead Nick.

Not a chance.
You want to organise, you can do it. ;)
I've done 6 of these already now & Leland has done one.

Step up to the plate young Padawan!

Okay so here is my list but need some finishing touch to it so give it some input. Everyone gets to campain just one car of their choice in each event. This is just so no one gets to drive a crap car they don't like and blame a bad race because of the car. You pick it, you race it, win or lose. Nobody gets to whine about how the car sucked.

1st to warm things up we are going to start with the Nissan MM-R Cup cars at:
Beginner Track
Motorland
Autum Mini

2nd car is VW Lupo or Beetle Cup Cars in:

Motorland
Autumn Mini
Tsukuba Dry/Wet

3rd we do the Muscle Cars in

Infineon Stock Car Track
Suzuka West
Opera Paris
New York
Hong Kong
Seattle

Note: We can split this tracks up in two sets of muscle cars 1st with the street ones then with the Race Versions.

4th event we can do the Rally Cars: Oh and Touring cars as well.

In any of the tracks of choice: We get to poll this one. But the Ring is a definite.

5th event will be Lemans cars in :

Laguna Seca
Fuji 2005
Infineon Sports Car Track
Suzuka
Sarthe 1

Finally to finish things off Formula GT '04 car in:
Super Motegi
Laguna Seca
Fuji
Infineon
Suzuka

Number of laps is open to a vote and also considering time limit to our day unless nobody wants to go home on Saturday and race all night or we can get started on Friday night and pull an all nighter. So there you have it Leland and everyone feel free to shoot me down now. Oh Nick the Auto Shop is closed on weekends and so it's secure and has a nice lounge with a good size parking lot. Also has Internet Wifi connection and clean restroom. This would only be just good if we also do GT5p LAN race for a separate addition to racers that aren't as experienced and probably divide it in different online events for expert and novice.

I've got two PS3 and have tried racing with two of my RIGG's online and it works pretty good seem to get everyone in the same race from my network and if we have enough we can fill the race with just us and no punters except me. I'd like to give this a try and see how well it works if not we can just ditch the whole thing and just go with GT4 unless we get an early release of GT5 before this event then all bets are off. :sly:

Do appreciate the invite :) But gonna have to decline until such time as hell hasth frozen over and I have GT5 in my cold, sweaty hands. Have fun everyone!

Jerome

Thanks for the invite!
I am game to another meet, I chose GT4 only, as I don't have GT5p...but if there is another copy around I'm game.
Also I chose Aug and October as July is super busy with going to Vegas and other fun events ;)
August seems busy too but I will try to make it if it ends up being on a good weekend.

Yeah, didn't think it would fly but thought of just putting it out there. Any comments on number of laps, track choice, rally & Touring cars

Yeah, bin the GT5p. I don't think enough people (ahem) truly enjoy it :p.

Having talked to a number of people who actually own and race cars, not just use a controller to play a video game, GT5:P (thank you Nick) is less realistic than GT4. To me it seems they, Polyphony/Sony, are trying to not only draw to the drifting phenomenon currently in vogue, reminds me of the disco era, but keep a hold of the crowd that only uses a controller to play video games, their biggest fan base. I fully understand that. What I don't get is people that I believed to be intelligent playing up GT5:P as though it is the do all/end all that has buried GT4. NOT!!! Sure I played prologue and raced on line, how I met Ramon, Nick and the guys, of which I am supremely grateful. But having switched back and forth between the two I believe 4 to be the more realistic, and believe that when 5 does finally come out that it will be more like 4 than :P. All I ask is that people stop back door disrespecting 4 by playing up :P like it is some sort of "God Send". Thank You, and "Goodnight"

What's "Eath" in the title?
The dictionary definition is an Olde English term from around 12th century, meaning "Easy".

As far as Touring Cars & Rally Cars go, I think we should try to use ones that haven't featured at an SFGTP LAN meet yet, but I'll have to dredge up a list for you.

To be honest I'm not comfortable with the autoshop idea from someone who's never been to an SFGTP especially if he's doing it for publicity as I don't want half of Oakland walking by and seeing several $1000s of kit on display, nor do we want street punters coming in and asking to have a go at racing every 5 minutes, the SFGTP concept is supposed to be a fun event for seasoned :gtplanet: members and known clean(ish) racers, and is not publicised anywhere but here.

Also I doubt given the dwindling turnouts from the last 2 LAN meets that we'll need any more space than I or Leland can provide in our own secure garages.

In the VW cup cars, it'll have to be Tsukuba Circuit as Tsukuba Wet comes under Special Conditions tracks and has a maximum of 2 cars on track simultaneously.

As far as laps go, you'll need to determine that based on your testing. I'd go for less laps in the slower cars & more in the faster ones, but it's up to you to sort the numbers out with your testing.

I was trying to mimic your "Seches" for 6 and 8 "Eathhhhh" I know it's kinda cheesy but you started it "Obe One"

Okay, I'll do some testing. Maybe Leland would want to do some testing to make the tire strategy more interesting too. :)

"Sechs" is German for six, just as "Go" is Japanese for five, "Quattro" is Italian for four and "Dos" is Spanish for two.

SFGTP1 didn't really have a foreign number, "The Threesome" was too good to pass up, and SFGTP7 actually got skipped in favour of having a name, "Devil's Own", although I guess we could call that one SFGTP6.6.6!

I wasn't sure if "Eath" was Eight in a foreign language, Filipino perhaps? ;)

These are the cars we have used before (from my list):

Ford Escort Rally Car '98
Peugeot 206 Rally Car '99
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV Rally Car '97
Lancia Delta HF Integrale Rally Car '92
Subaru Impreza Rally Car '99

ASL Arta Garaiya (JGTC) '03
Toyota SuperAutoBacs Apex MR-S (JGTC) '00
BMW 320i Touring Car '03
Nissan C-West Razo Silvia (JGTC) '01

There's also the selection from Leland's meeting that were all JGTCs, so I guess a few repeats are inevitable.

We've run the Volkswagen New Beetle Cup Car '00 before, so I'd vote the Lupo Cup Car in too.

It's "Walo" in filipino for 8 and its not that appealing. Let's just call it "Eat Meat" BBQ

Not much left for the rally cars but maybe the old Mitsubishi Lancer and Datsun 510. We could split up the Touring cars for a German manufacturer event as well as Japanese. I'll have to plug in my PS2 and GT4 to see the list again.

Ramon, please recognize the word "TESTING" in the above quote. Stop trying to be lazy, put down GT5:P and Do some testing!. :ouch: As I said, I spent 3 months putting together, read "testing" :), cars for the "Devils Own" event. Just sit down and drive the snot out of some of the cars you've listed dude. The more work you put into the event, the more enjoyment we will all get out of it. By the way I believe the Mazda RX7 LM Race Car '01 is available, ie unused, and comes in a multitude of appealing colors.

Now just to verify, I will make my place available for the event if you choose to have it here. BBQ friendly, cheap bathrooms, and low over head.

When you say Rally Cars and LeMans Cars, how're you going to determine what everyone gets to drive?
All of us in same car, or a selection of cars like Pick'n'Mix?

If so, the P'n'Ms should be well researched & closely matched round a few circuits with you driving them. (I usually use Trial Mountain, Infineon Stock Car & High Speed Ring as good indicators. If you can come up with a set of cars that're within 1 or 2 seconds of each other around all 3 tracks, you're onto a winner. 👍)

When you say race versions of Muscle Cars, only the '63 Corvette Z06 Race Car springs to mind, as there aren't any racing versions of '60s Camaros or the Shelby 'Stang or any of the '70s brutes. Which ones are you thinking of?

I do have 3 leftover 6 car P'n'Ms that haven't been used yet, but one is 4WD Race cars, one is FR coupe road cars (~200 - 250HP) & one is Tuner Cars.

Yup, I'm with you on the "Walo" bit! "Eat" sounds good instead, but it'll be an Indian Curry of some description if I'm hosting, as BBQ can't happen here!
Does everyone like spicy? :trouble:

There's those devilish Group B Rally machines like Ford RS200 Rally Car & Lancia Delta S4 to look at too... mwuhahahah!
There's a selection of unused Subies, Evos & the Mitsubishi CZ-3 Tarmac Rally Car, along with a Celica or 2.
There's 2 older Nissan FR rally cars (one from '80s & the '69 510) and the awesome '74 Lancer. They're surprisingly fun, even if a little slower.

Howdy y'all! My roadtrips and adventures have landed me back in the Bay Area (Orinda actually). I'm eager to get schooled in GT4 again, my ego just can't get enough abuse! After having my ass handed to me last meet it was awfully nice to be served some tasty tri-tip... Thanks again to Kev  so to have a meet with a meat theme is great! Maybe I'll even practice this time before the meet. :dunce:💡

Welcome home oh errant son. Glad your back. 👍 I have a two seat LAN set up in my living room, for how long I don't know, friends PS2. So if you are interested in a little one on one "Winner Walks" type racing lets see if Kev would like to Practice race style sometimes at my place? 💡 Or if you bring your PS2 I have one extra TV. Like to keep set up simple, if you know what I mean. :)

Man I wish more people were into GT besides KLR and myself in PDX :grumpy: What number is this one going to be, 8? Thats a rough one to think of a name for. Number nine could be Simon Seis (seis being spanish for 9 and all)...hmmm 8...eight...ate 'SFGTP Ate Meat' maybe? Just thinkin' out loud :)

Jerome

I do believe 9 in spanish is Nueve. Seis would be 6. 8 is ocho. a la buelta te abrocho.

Looks like it's coming close to August unless the other guys that haven't signed up tips the balance.

Oh yea! LOL. Man and to think I have a minor in Spanish, whoops! See what happens...you don't use it, you lose it. Proof in the pudding

Just an update on Car and track list.

1st Event 5 laps for each track:
Nissan MM-R Cup cars at:

Motorland
Autum Mini

2nd car is VW Lupo Cup cars, 5 laps:
Motorland
Autumn Mini
Tsukuba Dry

3rd muscle cars event in a single car choice with 5 laps:
Note: we get to roll the dice on what car to use per track.
Car List would be:
Chevelle SS 454 '70
Dodge Charger 440 R/T '70
Dodge Charger Super Bee '71
Plymouth Cuda 440 Six Pack '71
Plymouth Super Bird '70

I will do some testing to see if we can fairly race with different cars in this event. But if not we can add somemore to the list for single car event since the Camaros and Mustangs are missing.

Track list for this event with 5 laps each:
Infineon Stock Car Track
Suzuka West
Seattle

4th event Rally Cars:
Hyundia Accent Rally '01
Ford Focus Rally Car '99
SubaruImpreza Rally '99
Ford Escort Rally '98
Toyota Corolla Rally '98
Peugeot 206 Rally '99
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI '99

Tracks:
1 or 2 Laps in the Ring.
Seatle
Other tracks with jumps in them. I'll have to check.
Too bad we can't race in any of the dirt tracks I was hoping for the Tahiti track or some other mixed surface track. Hopefully we can do this in GT5

5th Event NSX Cars
Car List:
Takata Dome NSX '03
Mobil 1 NSX '01
Ray Brig NSX '00
Arta NSX
Castrol Mugen NSX

Track list:
Special Stage R5
Tokyo
Seoul
Hong Kong

6th event Lemans:
Car List:
Pescarolo C60 '04
Pescarolo C60 '03
Nissan R390 GTI '98
BMW V12 LMR '99
MB AMG CLK GTR '98
Mazda 787B '91

Track List:
Laguna Seca
Fuji 2005
Infineon Sports Car Track
Suzuka
Sarthe 1

Finally to finish things off Formula GT '04 car in:
Super Motegi
Laguna Seca
Fuji
Infineon
Suzuka
Monaco

So now I have to figure out if we have enough time to run all this events. If not it will just be a process of cutting laps or cutting out a track event. We can determine a champion for each category:

Championship Titles are as follows;

Spec Series for the Nissan and Lupo event
Vintage/Classic Car Event (Muscle Cars) We can also do old classic sports cars in the future.
Rally Car driver event
GT/Touring Car driver event (NSX)
Lemans Endurance Driver event.
Formula Car Driver Event

Sorry no Drifting events here. :)

Note: I'm thinking if we are short of time we will just do one race event for the Lemans and it will be for "Sarthe 1" but 15 laps to put in the tire strategy.

Some input, feedbacks anyone? Nick, not enough group B rally cars that are evenly match I don't think. I guess it won't be an issue when we get the livery editor in GT5. We can just all run the same car but have our own livery and car setups.
