Just an update on Car and track list.

OK

1st question, which Lupo? There are 4 of them, 2 stock 2 Cup cars.

2nd Do you have a 10 sided die for the Muscle car event or should I make sure to bring one along? Or do you mean we all roll a die and winner gets first pick, and so on?

3rd Will we be running all of the Rally cars, leaving 4 out ie only 2 tracks to run them on? Or add 4 tracks to complete that list? Will we be doing the die roll here also for choice of vehicle?

4th Same questions as previous two for the NSX event.

5th Ditto Le Mans event

Formula GT seems pretty self explanatory.

Will we also get to pick our own tires? If not please specify which tires for which event.

Answers:
1) Lupo Cup cars
2) I put as most cars on the list to give us more options to choose from so what ever car is left out is not in the race. You get to pick one car for the whole event in all the tracks that are in the event. It dosen't matter here if we endup in the same car since it comes in the different colors.
3) Same with this we have lots of options to choose from. So pick a car, now if everyone ends up choosing the same car then we will roll the dice or give first choice to the slowest driver. Whatever way you guys want to do it.
4)Same answer from no. 3
5)Same answer...
6) Yes you get to pick our own tires.

Looks like its August. Now tell us what the best weekend of August is best for you?

Haven't heard from Kevin yet. Hey, Kev whats up? I should have your shifter and pedal bracket for your RIGG by the next meet.

I've voted for GT4, and the later dates. If I'm going to race live an in person, I prefer the direct (not random) nature of GT4 LAN.

I have plans in July, August, and one weekend in September as well. So, October would certainly be best for me.

However, there's also the pesky matter of the pending release of GT5. (If that ever happens).

So, I guess this GT4 LAN thingy might be the last of its kind. At the very least, it's an endangered species. :dopey:

Leland, as far as running the 2 person setup - I won't have time anytime soon, but when I do, I'll let you know. Will most likely be late July or early August.

GT5 released in November! Woo hoo! anyone up for a release party? We can all open our GT5 box at the same time and celebrate our addiction to GT.

And do what exactly? :boggled:
Try to make a LAN meet out of a new game that we don't know will have LAN capabilities for certain, in probably a limited selection of new cars with new physics on tracks that we're all unfamiliar with?
You need to leave it at least 3 - 6 months depending on the sheer size of the game for someone to unlock all cars & tracks available, and for time to test some evenly matched lineups before even considering a local meeting. :sly:

No, just to get wasted on drinking and driving. Good food, good company and trying to see who can pass the most missions first. It's not all about racing, mostly just about having fun with a bunch of GT addicts thats all. :) Oh, we can listen to Leland complain about the pyshics and everyone else yell out explicite remarks when they 🤬 up a license test or a mission.

Okay back on topic:

With regard to the next SFGT "Ate" meat all the races will run 5 laps except for the NSX races and Rally event (the ring track will stay at two laps) so thats the race events for our next meet. Good Luck! and have fun practicing your final GT4 event. Woohoo! GT5 here we come!

Well looks like we are one up on PD, we can recreat the smell of the BBQ. :sly:

A quote from Amar 212 in his "FIRST OFFICIAL FACT SHEET" - 32 players in Private Lobbies???

RACE AGAINST THE WORLD, ONLINE
· Online racing evolves in Gran Turismo 5 with robust racing options that are shaping up to deliver the deepest online racing experience available.
· Players can join in on public races featuring up to 16 players at once with text and voice chat, or host private races with lobbies supporting up to 32 players per lobby.

Who knows maybe in LAN mode all the cars are unlocked already. 💡 but just the fact that we can all enjoy the new game together race or no race is good enough reason to celebrate and get together.

Opps! sorry double post.

Opps! sorry double post.

That's it, beat that horse a little more.

Actually, you know checking out the new game in a group format doesn't sound all that bad. Trading tips on license passing, enjoying all the new graphics, checking out the car list (or what there is of it) live with racing buddies might be cool. Seeing the list of tracks would be cool too. But then again who will be willing to wait even 30 seconds after they have it in their sweaty (hairy?) palms to start playing. My game store is 5 minutes, or less, from my front door. Good luck convincing me to keep it out of the console. NOT!!! So we what? wait a week or two and then get together? Set a date now? I don't know, I could flip a coin over it and be ok with whatever comes up.

I'm with Nick on this one, 3 to 6 months is what I'll need to get back into shape. Even at the last few SFGTP's I attended I wasn't near what I once was. Maybe if there is a spring LAN I'll attend that, depending on how things in the WRS shape up :)

Jerome

Didn't mean to litterally hold off until we metup but you get the picture. Right then. So who's up for it? You don't have to master the game to enjoy it. It's the journey that takes you there that's important. So what better way to do it than to do it with (REPEAT AFTER ME) A bunch of GT addicts!

Nov 2nd is a Tuesday.
I doubt I'll have any vacation days left by then. :(
My boss knows all about my GT addiction, and has tried out my cockpit, so it's doubtful he'll believe I've got a 24hr bug on the day GT5 is released!

hehe! good one. Maybe you can get him addicted too, so that we can give him a fix.

So, are we set on the month? August I think it was. I am open for all but the 21st-22nd. Plans to watch the Bristol night race with friends. BBQ etc... What do we have scheduled?

OK, I also upped my GT5 pre-order to the "Collectors Edition". Anyone else nail down theirs? The weekend of November 6th-7th is only 3 days after the release. I'll put up my place for the release meet. What do you ladies think?

Nov. 6th sounds good one day event for GT5 is good enough I think since it's not a real LAN race event. Should we start a poll for what weekend we want for August or should we just post right here?

"Someone" could edit the poll from Months to August weekends if you'd like, and reset the votes.
Just take note of who has voted so far, and send a PM out to invite them to re-vote in the new poll after it's changed.
If you can find "someone" to change it for you. ;)

Okay we need to sort out the next date for the meet but would also like to know how many guys want a separate LAN for PS3 online race event included with PS2 with the meet.

I know some guys have moved on from GT4 to GT5p so I think it would be possible to just hookup the PS3 to a network and race online. With one 6 way LAN setup for the GT4 diehards.

Let me know what you guys think and how we would setup for the online race event as our programed event. We can also do time trials for qualifying.

NOTE: This is a San Francisco BAy Area LAN meet if you are new to this and live in the area or would like to drive or fly in from somewhere let us know. But if you are not part of the group and don't plan to come then please don't click on the poll. THX!

As for our regular guys in the group, looking forward to your input.

Also as to exactly where the event is going to be held is still not confirmed.

Possible locations are either Lelands shop/home, Nick's garage if it's avialable or a nice big Autoshop near the Oakland Airport so people that want to fly in from somewhere can have easy acess to the event and accommodations.

If you guys want to discuss this on Facebook you can go to www.RIGGracing.com

Also if you aren't too tired we can go indoor karting on Sunday after at Lemans Karting in Fremont.

Well, I tried. :dunce:
I tried copying an older thread of Ramon's without a poll and merging this thread into it, but it carries the poll over too. Now it appears that Ramon started this thread prior to us having "Devil's Own", but that isn't actually the case!
It seems that I can edit the poll options, and reset the votes to zero.
However, I cannot change the fact that it recognises who has already voted, and therefore will not allow us to vote again! :guilty:
I'll have to seek help from Jordan or the Admins on this one.
Sorry.

I changed my order yesterday to the CE :sly:

I guess we'll wait for the poll to be fixed.
But I'm putting my dates down.

Aug 14-15 (<<<On the 13th I will be @ the concorso Italiano :D)
or
Aug 28-29

By jingo Jeeves, I do believe it's bally well fixed! Bloody good show old bean!

I know I can't make 21st & 22nd for certain.
I have 3 x They Might Be Giants concerts to attend that weekend. 20th in Santa Cruz, 21st in Napa and 22nd at Stern Grove Festival in SF.
Will have to check with Mrs. S to see what else we have planned too.
I may also have to withdraw the Smallhorses' Stable from the venue list due to the fact that a) we currently have no living room furniture, and b) we're probably going to be having the whole house painted sometime in August, so it might not work too well.
Last weekend in August may be out as my Brother & his family are arriving on Sept 1st and we'll have last minute preparations to deal with my Nephew's needs as he's still very young.
Anyone have any stairgates, child car seats and toys suitable for 2 year olds?

Yah yah so my British accent is terrible. What I want to know is where did you get that cool "Top Hat and Monocle" smiley? And why didn't you vote?

I've voted now, turns out we're away in Pismo Beach 14th & 15th, so it's either 7th & 8th or 28th & 29th for me, and if it means I get to race Ricardo realtime again, the latter is favourable! 👍

Ordered my GT5CE and asked if there was going to be a midnight release and if any tournaments are scheduled..'dunno yet man' was all I got :/

But then I got to thinking, if they do a tournament at gamestop in a live LAN setup; A) it would be with controllers (most likely) and B) cheaters will prosper. They should do hotlap comparisons...anyway...my boss is also full aware of my GT addiction and I'm hoping after I get braces this month, that I'll have a full week of PTO for a nice staycation.

As Smallhorses place is out of commission.
I need to talk to the landlord about the garage. He has store some crap there that could be taken out. I won't commit to hosting @ my house for this time around.
"Someone" could work the race details, I provide the hosting.
The only thing that we will need is setting up the LAN as I use a Hotspot at home. A little help will be necessary to work it out.
