Crappity Crap.
Forgot we've also booked tickets to see The Chemical Brothers at Fox Theatre in Oakland for 8pm on Sat 28th August.

Guess I'm only available 7th & 8th after all. :(
No worries, you guys can definitely cope without me now, so I'd say go with majority rules, and do it 28/29th.
I may have Old Geezer interested again (and to stop Leland whining about being the oldest!!!) so I'll see when he'd be available.

I've got something epic in the works for August (as well as a possible business trip), and it feels like I've got 50 hands in my pockets stealing money, so I'm on the fence about this LAN for now. I'll let the democratic process seal the date, and then I'll decide :).

Hey! I'm only the oldest by 2 mo. Ramon's just as much a geezer as me. So there! MOM!!! Nick's picking on me again!!!

A little suggestion for the menu, if I may...

In keeping with the racing theme how about some chili with some Carroll Shelby's Chili Fixin's in it for lunch? ;)

Hehe! is it good or does it taste greasy? get it? Greasy! :dopey: speaking of Geezer I'm turning 50 in August too, we are going to have to start a senior event soon.

August! I thought it was April. OH, GT birthday, I get it. My bad. August what dude? Should we get a st***er for entertainment, or just load a cupcake with a fire hazard amount of candles?

It's on the 16th of Aug. that's why I can't do that weekend of the 14 & 15

Crippity Crip, you can still play. Ramon left early and Al took over last time. 💡 Let me talk to my neighbor and see if he'll stint you on Saturday. OK? He's actually pretty good and may be practicing up on his GT4 as like a lot of :People we know he has been playing GT5:P.

Do any of you (or anyone that's previously attended an SFGTP) that has a Slimline PS2 have any use for a spare AC adaptor, standard AV lead and a DS2 controller?
I happen to have 1 of each available for free to anyone that wants them as they belonged to the used Silver Slimline PS2 that I've just posted to Famine, and we left them out of the postage as he's already got enough, so as the keep the postage costs down!

Let me know if you're interested. If I don't hear anything within 7 days of this post, I'll put up a message in the Trading Post that anyone can have them for free if they pay postage (~$8 to East Coast US, less to places closer to me.)

So what's up guy's? Everyone deep into practice? We looking at August 28-29 for the event? Nick you want me to get my neighbor to spell you while at the concert? Or we going to do the 7-8 so Mrs Smallhorses can participate?

OK, I asked Ramon and it's going to be street cars-street tires. Racing cars-racing tires. Is there a true final on the date yet Ramon? :)

Your call on the date Leland since it looks like you are going to be hosting. Nick has stuff going on at his place so his place is not avialable.

Can't decide. Aug 7-8 means itgirlxx can play and Nick doesn't have to leave early for the concert, and 28-29 brings Ricardo into the mix and Nick has those concert tickets. OK Ramon back in your court. You're the organizer, both dates are fine by me you roll the die/flip the coin and let us know. :indiff:

Okay Aug 7 & 8 it is then, sorry Ricardo hope you can still make it but itgirlxx is much prettier than you. Let the games begin.

Here's the deal from my end...
I'm hoping that all our new furniture should be in place by 28-29th August and the decorators will have finished painting by then.
Rachel obviously won't be racing, so I'd say let's shoot for 28/29th at my place so Ricardo can join us and Rach gets to see everyone.

If we can get mostly set up on the Friday night (27th), early-ish, as we're seeing Norah Jones & Corinne Bailey Rae at the Greek Theater that night, then we can make an early start on Saturday, and race until around 6:30pm before I'll have to kick you out while we go and see The Chemical Brothers at the Fox.
We'll have a normal day on Sunday and race until everyone has to go home.
This is all of course contingent on Ramon having done the requisite testing, and having a pre-prepared gamesave with all the correct tracks selected, correct cars loaded to the favourites list and minimal 🤬 around while we're trying to set up the network.

Who is on the Guestlist so far, and how many stations will we need?
I can think of Me, Kevin, Leland, Ramon, Alex, and Ricardo for sure, with possibly Will if he's around, and Bob (Old Geezer) if he's interested in flying up from Texas for it, but the sooner I can give him a date, the better. So, either 1 hopefully non-laggy 6-way LAN or a couple of 4-ways if we can fill the seats.

What say you to this?

Works for me. No need to clean the house as no Lady friends coming over. And as you guys can tell from the last meet, you don't rate.

Also give me more time to practice, and earn the $ for those damned expensive Le Mans cars. Still need to buy 2 more and there's only $2 mil in the bank.

Do you need any logistical help with the furniture? Like a truck or trailer? Let me know.

Yes, I'm game for Nick's recomendation then. We will need your truck to expedite our RIGG transport Leland. 4 way LAN sounds good and room for 2 more incase someone shows up for a 5 way. 6 way just gets to laggy. Leland didn't the game saves from the last LAN meet have all the cars in the garage?

So are we good and final with the dates everyone? What says you's guys? (That's with my Brooklyn, NY accent) 28-29th August

Now what do I need to do and how do I do the game saves for the meet again Nick "Obe One Kenobi" ????

Aww man...and OldGeezer may be there too? 🤬 O well, GL guys! If you can't make it this time Bob, maybe you can when GT5 comes out? 💡

Let me see if I can take a stab at helping with the game save stuff. If you have any doubts or can't get all the cars, don't sweat it, there are many places to get a complete GT4 game save online, or from one of us here 👍

The basic thing for the memory cards is to setup one just the way you need it, make sure all the tracks are unlocked and then go into arcade mode and add each car that everyone will race with (usually sorts by HP if I remember right). Be sure to triple check each car to make sure its the correct one, some look the same, some have similar names and some look the same AND have similar names (thx for that Kaz :p)

Once that is done, save the game to the memory card and take the GT4 disc out and go into the browser and insert a blank memory card in slot two and copy it over. What I recommend here is that you remove any and all GT4 stuff from the second memory card, while of course making sure you aren't deleting from your original card.

That way it you wont have any issues with overwriting files and second, you don't want any network configurations saved on the memory card yet because that step has to wait until everyone is there and the LAN is setup. Because the GT4 LAN files have to match exactly as well, otherwise it no workie.

If we do a 4 or 5-way LAN with folks sitting off then you need to come up with a fair system to determine who sits when, and ensure that everyone gets a fair number of races.
I do have a brand new unused Gigabit switch, and if we stick to shortest possible cables, I believe a non-laggy 6-way should be fine as long as we're not going for 15 lap Nurburgring epics! It's only when the amount of replay data that the host is trying to store becomes massive that things started to run in sloooooooooow-mo.

As far as the gamesave goes, what's left on your card from last LAN should be my 100%, 100,000A-spec save which has every car unlocked in Arcade mode. Follow Jerome's instructions above and you should be all set.

Clear out any cars on the Favourites (or Favorites if you prefer!) list, and add all the cars you want us to race with, preferably in some sort of order (up to a maximum of 30 cars.)

Under Options and Track Registration, you'll need to ensure that all the tracks you want us to race on are on the selected list, and bear in mind there's a maximum number of tracks you can register (can't remember what it is though, but it does warn you when the list is full.)

It'd be possible to drop the RIGGs off on Thursday 26th too if that helps.

I might have to substitute one of the NSX the one that revs much higher seems to have to much of an advantage. Unless you guys want to race all in the same car? THe rally cars I guess we will just need to have free choice and duplicate cars would be allowed in the race.

Which one would that be? The Loctite Mugen?

So how many of you guys like the new Dodge commercials? The one where the original George W chases the redcoats off with a group of Challengers. Cool :)

Actually I did do more laps with the other NSX and and I could match the lap times of the Mugen it just took a some more laps and some work. :nervous:

Well this should be fun. I've been testing a bit and have some input. The Lupos are a blast but that mm-R is a piece, and is another FWD on Rs. I think a RWD S tired car would be more fun, say Spec Miatas or Elises maybe. Also several of the Muscle Cars top out on the straights, so some more thought should probably go into this. Anyways, I hope to be able to join y'all next month. Joy.

Hope to see you there Will. 👍

Yeah Will wouldn't be the same with out you.

Spec Miatas sound good, it's a fun car. To replace the MM-R would be nice that pig is a drag. Suggestions on the list?

Oh yeah, Nick? I'd see a doctor, that skin condition is starting to really look bad. And when did you join the seminary?

Yeah, I was thinking the Suzuki GSX is it or the Miatas sound good too. It's up to you guys. I'm open to the majority votes.

Ooh. 💡
The GSX-R/4 hasn't been used at a LAN meet yet as far as I know, and I include the UKGTPs in that too. (*Waits to be corrected by Famine*)
We've definitely done Miatas before, at SFGTP1, as I had, for some strange reason, to have the option to possibly drive a white Miata with a tan hood.
Can't think why though?...:p
Gixer gets my vote. 👍

@ Leland: Remind me to introduce you to the Father Ted DVDs.
Father Jack is a legend of Craggy Island.

I wish I would see that race if you go with the GSX, should be a tight race 👍

As for the NSX's, the Mobil 1 and the Mugen are about the same, but IIRC those two are superior to the others on the straights :/
