You mentioned the Senna content in May, can you give us any sort of timeline as to when we can expect the other major features to be released, such as the Course Maker, online community features, etc.?

“We don’t have a definite order yet of things, but, you know, January, February, March, April, May, etc., we have updates planned for each of those months, and there are actually more things too which we still can’t mention! [Laughs.]

:boggled:

Also just cruising through the recent past GTP News articles and we have many depressing items:

and the big kicker:

Does anybody here want to call GT6 "80% complete" in April 2014? :(

So the now-burning question to our main man @Jordan is: What has taken place in there? It's now VERY clear that something truly disasterous has happened at PD. In either the roundtable discussion or the GTP Podcast featuring you, you were quite excited and mentioned your thoughts on some really good stuff coming our way. You said it was right around the corner.

Obviously you were privy to something there.. I'm not asking you to tell us what 'those things' are, but have you gotten any indication/info about what has gone wrong?

I honestly believe the delay is due to a push from Sony for a driving game on ps4, IE GT7P...

Obviously this is just my opinion, and I'm probably completely wrong.

It would be nice to have some clarification though.

You're right, it's time to panic !

The more you panic, the more update will arrive faster !

Maybe....

Or not :sly:

And during that time, I still collect cars on GT6 and play FEZ, it's really great :)

The biggest mistake PD made is the fact that decided to release GT6 on a very "full" period of 2013 (GTA V release, Xbox One, Forza 5 etc, etc, etc and the worst of all... PS4). Sony is trying to promote the PS4 to the world and this affected something like "GT6's pause development" from PD. I believe that, because Sony is not pushing only PD for a PS4 game, but is pushing ALL development studios!

@Zlork , who said or even slightly inferred anything about panicking?

:dunce:

Also, you gies, PS4's eventuallity was a KNOWN COMMODITY since late 2012. PD/Kaz have been fully aware of PS4 for a loonnnnggg time. The PS4/GT7 idea didn't just pop up since GT6 release.

Something different has happened since Dec 6th.

Wasnt drive club supposed to be a ps4 launch title?

Didn't I read somewhere recently that drive club (it's developers) has suffered some staff losses recently, leading to delays?

I don't know the ins and outs, but I know the reason I havnt bought a ps4 yet is because of the lack of driving games currently. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

We'll be spoilt for choice soon and will have all forgotton all about gt6, when PCars and gt7 drop on the PS4 (hopefully with VR)

I'm just waiting for PS4/G27 compatibility confirmation so I can retire the DFGT.

Sorry to go off topic (it's a bad habit of mine)

Lower than expected return on investment.

If Jordan could say anything he would have already.

  • Sounds very promising and I hope they deliver on the hype. There will be lots more to come in the next few months and by the time the game rolls around many fans will be frothing at the mouth. If it’s not all it’s cracked up to be and online is plagued with issues, there will be a horrific amount of backlash. They better get it right this time, fan loyalty only lasts for so long.

haha, Johnny. I don't know how you nailed it so hard way back in august, but ya did.

I seriously hope it's nothing to do with Sony's financial uncertainty.
I think it has everything to do with Sony and it,s re-organization of its entertainment division announced in January, causing numerous lay-offs in that division. As I said being a authorized tv servicer for sony the tech line for sony tv servicers shut down Friday and the people were laid-off or reassigned or retired.

Oooh this thread is gon be fun !
Truth it guys, Im expecting a GT7 announcement by TGS 2014 with a release GT7:Prologue Holiday 2015, with full on GT7 November 2016. Why am I saying this in this thread? Well, while some studios grow exponentially when a new gen begins, PD seems to have a problem doing this. Are they spreading themselves too thin? Probably. and now they got the GT6 guys dividing their time between PS3 and PS4 development.
Get with the times, PD, time you start outsourcing to stay in the game.
With that said, Im 100% speculating, but even the undying optimist I am, Im growing weary of waiting for the content...
EDIT : if I was Shuhei Yoshida or Kaz Hirai or KY, what would I do?

I would turn Evolution Studios into a subsidary of Polyphony and have them modeling the Europe based cars and/or American after Drive Club and that way grow PD's size thus making them big enough to release our GT6 content AND a GT7 on PS4 with 1500 Premiums. . .
I can dream, cant I ? :P

My only real complaint is PD making promises and not keeping them. Seems to be the way of the world but not acceptable to me. Saying there will be updates and then nothing other than a few tweaks that hardly amounted to anything and some fantasy cars for the ricerkids is a joke. Yes, the game is decent as is, but it does not change that it shipped without half the features it was supposed to have and still hasn't got them. Period. I find it sad that so many people say they would still buy GT7 even if GT6 stays as is. That attitude is exactly why companies think this behaviour is acceptable. We, as a society have accepted mediocrity and false promises as being okay.

TDU2 did the same, released a seriously broken game and paid the price. I didn't have a problem as much as the game being broken and undriveable as I did with the fact the makers didn't care. Now I see what appears to be a similar attitude with Gran Turismo. If so, I won't be fooled into buying GT7. PD appears to have lost all integrity. I don't have a problem if there are delays, but IF there are merely delays, then TELL us. Otherwise, kiss our future business Good Bye.

May be...

:p:D

- even if unfinished, gt6 needed to be on stores at november, before christmas, next-gen and driveclub. maybe there is no delay about the promissed features, we never knew the intended release dates, we suspect but cant be sure if there is any delay about any of them.
- or maybe there is a delay, but not a distaster, just delayed because those features are simply taking more time to be donne than first expected. we all know sometimes that happens.
- doubtfull but maybe sony/polyphony hade to rethink the priorities. sony already made an half price cut since february, only 3 months later. its an obvious sign of worry. maybe those worrying low sales and low reviews forced sony and polyphony to rethink their priorities causing some delays. i still beliave driveclub delay hade something to do with gt6 low sales lesson.
- gt5 servers close may 20th and at june Nissan launches the "Connect NISMO Plus” with the new GT-R. its reasonable to expect some of the promissed features, till june, maybe may 20th.

The title of the article you provided a link to was, "Sony Plans for “Quantum Leap” with Gran Turismo 6 DLC." Well, it seems like they meant a "Quantum Leap" backwards! :sly:

It's weird how even with dealing with an Earthquake, they put out GT5 Updates at a regular pace, so I don't think they have an excuse this time.

I'm willing to assume GT6 costs less for PD to develop for so there really shouldn't be any issues here. Assuming that is.

No offence to the OP but we have enough ongoing discussions full of conjecture and wild guesses. The fact is, no-one knows what is going on, even our beloved and worthy leader @Jordan. I'm closing this simply because the discussion already exists in a variety of guises. :indiff:
