Patch Release Notes and Discussion Thread

means discussing patch notes

unless the whining and crying was in the patch notes

So what its PCars, so long as people are talking about it still i'm good with it. Does it really bother you THAT much?

You do understand that we have an entire PCars section of the forum...with threads laid out specifically so that people can find what they're looking for easily.

It's common courtesy and etiquette.

Yes i do know that, but I've been responding to stuff in here and instead of getting on my high horse and preaching to people i just joined in a conversation regards PCars because, you know, i don't feel i have to talk down to people on the internet to make me feel better about my life or lack of.
Now the common link to this with Ian Bells cling ons jumping in to stifle and derail threads is because we are saying honest stuff about PCars and SMS which is not totally fawning and blinkered..
Funny thing is Jim Jones..sorry, Ian Bell, said the other day on official forum as he was slagging off yet another customer, that people have plenty of non official sites to moan about PCars on so "bugger off" basically, but the cling ons and Ian Bell internet attack dogs still jump on you....

If you consider that post preaching, or me somehow acting as an Ian Bell protector, then I pity you. If you don't understand basic common forum etiquette, that's on you.

Sorry when i was growing up my Mother must of forgot to teach me that bit about 'forum etiquette'....

Back on topic...roll on patch 9.... i can remember before the 1st ever patch and some people on official forum were calling the game perfect "oh it must be your system" etc etc, funny how a perfect game needs so far 8 patches...lol.

O/T Anyway i'm off Go Karting tonight with a bunch of guys (and a girl) and 3 of them are racing drivers... should be fun.

Dude, you're always telling us what it's like on the official forum, what the people are like there, and a lot of us read that forum so we know what it can be like, but we don't need to know all about it over here on GTP, we can just go there if we want to hear all that stuff. It's like you can't have a moan on there because they'll (most likely) ban you (lol) so you do it here instead.

Not saying you can't have a moan, but the whinging and crying thread is where we should all do it, etiquette or not. Just keeps everything better organised.

Have fun karting though. Last time I did that I completely mullered my back on those little bucket seats but the racing was great.

Allow me to take up the slack then and fill in that most vital missing part of your education.

Today's lesson: Keeping it on topic.

Posts within topical discussions should be relevant and within acceptable scope of the subject, which is usually indicated by the topic title. Waxing lyrical in protestation of other members pointing out this necessary fundament to forum etiquette is generally frowned upon by the members in question and, more importantly, the staff.

It may be necessary for you to practise restraint when you have the sudden urge to moralise or otherwise behave in a superior manner after an attack of off-topicness. Lack of such restraint does generally not end well, even in the bounds of the internet and whatever you deem its relevance to your life, or lack of it. :dopey:

What's wrong with the 2002 stanceworks? I've driven it in the community event and loved it.

Totally stock?
Its pants.

*edit* Update.
So i just fired up PCars (work from home, don't tell my boss), just wanted to give the 2002 another go. Donington park, spins like a drift car yet its based on a 70's group B racer...not good hate it can't lean on the tires in stock form at least....
Go to community event at Scottish track and..........................its ace! It works it drives its FUN!
It feels like it has more grip in the community event at that road track...very odd. Still gonna play with the stock settings especially that LSD.

There is apparently a tire glitch on the Stanceworks, people say the rear tires spike to 350 degrees with no reason (which would explain why I found it absolutely undriveable).

Would explain it for sure. Cheers for heads up.

At this point the patches should just be bug fixes and adjusting stuff here and there. Every other suggestions when it comes to features has been a no and is suppose to be on pcars2..... Eh... We'll see about that. Just tweaks and some improvements would be good. Couple of things i would like fixed/adjusted, and etc in patch 9:

  • Stuck in the pits when it comes to online needs to be solved.
  • Somehow improve monitor mode for online and replays
  • Cars getting stuck to each other and can't get off each other needs to be gotten rid of once and for all.
  • Other bug fixes

Pretty much confirmed by Umer and Remco that it will only be minor bug fixes from now on:

Well its better than abandoned/nothing. And who knows, maybe a lot of minor fixes can equal a few major fixes over time
Cumulative effect.......................................👍

Patch 9.0 incoming for PC.

Hi all,

We'll be rolling out the next PC patch today. Here is the list of changes.

Project CARS – PC Patch 9.0 – Release Notes

Vehicles
• Aston Martin GTE - adjusted the AI suspension damper rates down to better handle curbs
• BMW 2002 SW - Adjusted default setup for better drivability. Adjusted optimum temperatures and heating to move the optimum running temp closer to 180F. Adjusted cockpit camera position. Changed transmission to sequential, paddle shift to match the 3D model
• BMW 2002 Turbo - Speed adjustments for player and AI for better match in the Vintage racing class.
• Formula Renault 3.5 - Raised collision mesh and adjusted default setup for better curb behaviour. Adjusted various other setup items to make player drivability better. Upped tire temperature build-up to get the tires more in the optimum range to use more of the intended grip with the default tire pressures and setup.
• Ford Escort, Mercedes 300SEL - Balanced the speeds better against the new BMW Stance Works car for the same class. Slight improvements in available grip through moving them into better optimum heat/grip range. AI speeds changed to match.
• McLaren F1 GTR - Fixed an issue where parts of the car would clip through other parts when damaged.

Tracks
• Road America - New race line and corridor tweaking. The main goal was to keep the AI off the curbs so heavily, as with the massive alligator teeth here cause the stiffer car fits and lifting off the throttle.
• Silverstone Classic – Fixed an issue that caused the game to dramatically slow down and at times crash during pitting in a multiplayer race.

Tires
• Reworked some vintage tires to get a better average temperatures increase, resolve severe flat spotting, localized overheating and too-easy punctures which were being reported.

Audio
• Ford Falcon – Reworked the vehicle sounds to a closer match of the real car.

UDP
• UDP - fix for PC joypad and steering wheel buttons not registering.

Patch 9.0 incoming for PC.
I really love my FR3.5 setup, hope the changes don't affect me much but as with any patch, I'm worried for now. Good to see some curb control at Road America as you can often see the AI up on 2 wheels there.

Well patch 9 isn't going down too well so far. Noticing a lot more WMD guys now showing some dissent also. The patches bring new issues and really now are just released so they can dump more DLC on to us, the fact some of the resent patches have been to fix DLC content is just how much SMS are out of their depth because they do stuff on the cheap.
Casey the physics guy who messed up the tires with the patch 6-8 debacle should of been shown the door IMO. I think its a bit of a mess really in truth this whole Project Cars 1 thing.
It really could of been exceptional instead of "But, its so nearly there...what a shame."

This is gold:

So you suggest that SMS should risk its existence by trying to fix/add everything in the game that the people who bought the game want, without getting anything out of it but some satisfied people posting on this forum? How would this work in your opinion?

I agree that it's still some stuff that need to be fixed. Like for example when you are done with a race online and it freezes once the countdown is over. But the people that's still saying that the game is broken i just laugh. Yea it kinda was during the first two months but i barley notice any problems now. But SMS can't just keep coming out with these patches that's barley fixing problems. I'm pretty sure they can improve and fix some things.

You're doing a diservice to SMS. The best you can do is shut up your mouth and swallow the criticism. Working replays for MP when JiP is involved is a new feature now? Can't be reproduced by the team when it happens in every MP Race? The game is bugged, the game is unfinished and, while some of us understand that the economic/development dangers involved are way too complex, what we can't understand is the atittude of yours. We are not the problem, your game is the problem. People have paid for a finished product, full retail price in many cases, and you haven't delivered on a complete experience. Sure, for some of us what you've delivered is very much worth the hassle, but you 've got a lot of nerve to say the things you are saying to your community.

How about the bugs that were introduced by patches? The TrackIR view bug and the inability to chat while in MP race lobby are two examples of these. One would think the cause of these are known, and would be prioritized for a fix since both features used to work properly.

What people are expecting for pC1 is of no concern really, as they are not taking into account any business/development reality. And reality is that all of these improvements are on the list for pC2, because there it is possible to implement them without risking to break a finished product."

Nice to finally get to official statement after a year of being tricked
You probably forgot all promises given during alpha phase about post-release additions? Let me list some of them: proper 3 monitor support, manual pits, saving/sharing setups and more?
I am assuming you also forgot about bans given to some long-term beta-testers (me included) just a few weeks before release just for saying that we don't believe SMS anymore they are going to fulfil promises.
Sadly we were right at the end.

Sorry but where is the improvement? It still sounds nothing like a V8 and just sounds like generic touring car SFX that was on the asano X4.

It should sound like this
