Just a comment (you can see my setup in the Cheap Cockpits page): a lot of you guys with low-slung cockpits have forgotten the footrest!

Geez, how can you do an enduro without a footrest? How can you brace yourself for those hairpins fighting the DFP?? :)

Here's my cockpit. Built over one weekend out of materials purchased at Home Depot and Lowe's plus alot of sweat. Used a hand held hacksaw and mitre-box for all the cuts and a portable drill for all of the holes. My design was inspired in large part by other posts on this forum, and I want to thank those other members for their inspiration. Some of the dimensions may seem a bit off from the pics, but keep in mind that I am 6'5" tall and it is mostly for just me anyway. I did add some adjustability for the wheel and pedals though. I'm estimating that the total cost (including seat purchased from a used parts dealer for $25) for the project came in around $130. Maybe my post will inspire others, who knows?

Here's mine. I got the cockplit ready in a few hours a long time ago 💡 , but my steering wheel came a month late! :yuck:

And my life:

for a start i need to know were you can get a table from that is about 55cm-about 80 cm high so i can mount ma lotus elise wheel on there!
seat is no problem!

If you get a wreckage, try to fit the DFP inside, get rid of the front of the wreckage, get a beamer and..... :dopey:
Keep the doors, dashbord, seat etc...

LOL :dunce:

Ok, I wish I had this, however I dont. This thing is freaking insane.....no joke.

http://virtual-gt.com/index.html

Note* the one shown is $15,000 USD with a 27" LCD tv. The most expensive one is $25,000 with a 75" LCD tv.

This thing is equipted with full surround sound audio, Full Suspention, Custom Racing seats with a 4-point racing harness and an electric box which contains all the wiring, ps2 and even an exhaust system which takes the hot air away from your head! :scared: This thing is really sick! :dunce:.

I must say, money does not buy taste! To me, that just says "Look at me, I can go overboard on unecessary **** to make my home look like an arcade hall"

Instead, I like the cockpits that are purely for the game:

RexKwonDo(page 3, this thread) and SimRaceDriver(page 1, this thread) - Most impressed by the surround speakers in your ears!

BMW5150 (page 3, this thread) - The TV being in an enclave to focus attention

Drifty_McDrift (Page 1, this thread) and bnommensen (page 2, this thread) - Multiple players!!!!!!

You are the people inspiring me to start building my own cockpit (with both financial and space issues) see - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=1585139&postcount=533

You did get it right, the VGT cockpit is to make a room into a gaming room...Look on the website, they even give you plans on how to set-up the rooms to make a "arcade look."

And you would be lying if you said you wouldnt like to play gt4 in that thing, looking at a 75" LCD monitor....

Here is a pic of mine which including the second hand ps 2, tv, seat, wheel etc cost just over $500 australian. I am a cheapskate what can I say.

I think I have the most ghetto set up. I'll post if you guys are looking for a laugh ;). I use a 25lb wieght to balance the little table i use.

Total spent: $0.00. I didnt even know how i was going to set my dfp before getting. It took me all of 2 minutes to figure out what to use and after 1 day i modified it for stability.

Well mine is a small TV crammed under my bed next to my PC and a seat with wheels, Can't beat the good old argos chairs :P

I got one of those bunk bed things but with no bed on the botom, it's a desk with my PC monitor and my TV on it with the actual PC on the floar next to my sony speakers and the PS2.

I did have a decent wheel but I used to be a bit of a sleep walked and woke up one day to the actual wheel being loose and the shifter didn't work on going forward. Was a good wheel to as I could set the gears to **** with the padels at the back of the wheel and use the shifter a handbrake, especcially good on rally games. Now it's just the good ole pad for me. :(

Here are some older pictures of my COCKPIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(taken on the week Gt4 came out in NA)
thanks for any input.

DAMN! Those neon lights look pretty awesome!
Gotta give you a few 👍's for that!

Care to elaborate on 'how' those where set up and 'what' lights you use?
You've given me some more inspiration to add to my setup...(see sig :D)

@DuefoMachine: Thanks for thinking my setup was worthy of inclusion in your last post! Much appreciated! :)

I've seen alot of people in here with the very cool looking wheel with the GT badge on it, where can I find this product and how much would it cost?

NOTE:I'm in the UK so any websites based in £'s would be appreciated.

its the driving force pro wheel by logitech, by far the best wheel for GT4 as PD designed the game to function best with it. As for the price, im not sure as i'm from Australia but here it retails for about $300 Aus dollars.

loved the setups some of you guys have, its amazing. i live in a small apartment so i was limited with my setup but a good tv-tuner card and 5.1 sound system with a flat screen gives me enough GT bliss...... here it is..........

You know those cat scratching posts that have a square top and bottom and the clawing part in the middle? Picture one of those on a table, with a DFP mounted to it, in front of this:

(pic from Xmas...excuse the horrid mess)

my gosh u guys go all out on this game

What better way is there to play GT4 than with a nice cockpit...

Like I say... don't get GT4 unless you're going to take it seriously(not like a kid), have fun, and GO ALL OUT!!!!

Hey, for everyone else
NICE SETUPS
as for me I havn;t gotten my setup yet...but its coming!!!
in about 5 yrs...
lol nah its coming pretty soon i already ordered it:)

You know coredrifter, some guys will take the time to measure their favorite car, and do a WHOLE HECK OF A LOT OF WORK TO GET THEIR SETUP RIGHT...
so im not suprised at these guys, but their setups are pretty nice...
Wouldnt mind trying them out :) :) :) :) :) :)

I'm still working on my setup. I made 2 of these cockpits with temporary sheet aluminum seats to test them out at first. I have now added a bucket seat out of 98 Neon ($50) to one and I'm working on a final design. I work as a welder fabricator so it wasn't to crazy to build.

It's real adjustable and comfortable to sit in for extended periods :) The seat retains the factory seat tracks and is adjustable forward and back and reclines. It can be stood up against the wall to store.

All the set ups look awesome guys. Good work to those who built their own, they look great.

I just purchased a Tjr simulator, out here in Australia. www.tjr.com.au.
Opted for the unpainted version so i could spray it up myself, ended up cheaper that way.

So this was it naked

And now complete...

Nice Futon. Haha, I Have One Just Like That. Btw, That Setup Is Sick.

Dang you guys go all out on this game. My setup is a PS2, a controler and a 32 inch TV. The problem with the TV though is that it is 11 years old so sumtimes it crapps out while im playing.

It's heavy, big but working perfectly...
:) :) :)

I did a modification on a cheap controller to have the feeling of a real gearshift and handbrake. I also put a big and easy-to-reach reverse button...

Controller:

Gearshift:

Handbrake:

And a dashboard on the TV screen:

A nicer version of this cockpit will come out when I will have the time...

Those futons suck dont they,lol... Mines all warped from sitting in the middle too much. Now my Staffy has taken over the futon and he's made it worse by sleeping in the middle as well.

nurburgring, that is definitely the greatest application of electrical engineering I've ever seen. My thumbs hurt so bad from a-specing 99.1% so far with my dualshock controller.

nice setup nurburgring. im very interested in how you integrated the second controller into the setup to work as a gear shifter / handbrake / reverse. how is connected to the wheel? ps2?

Just plug the controller to the normal plug as usual...

I forgot one day to unpplug my controler before playing with my DFP and found that both working in the same time.

And the german guy (a genius in the electronic devices and modifications gave me some advices before modifying a controller). There is some welding involved.

I 'm looking for his link and post it...
