^ It was a combination of joystick and G27 controls for me, Serious lag in Shift 2 meant you never felt in control of the car. Along with the physics that were just awful, Grid had arcade physics that was a blast to play but shift 2 felt as unrealistic as mario kart.

I Played about 1/2 of shift 1 with the DS3 and I liked it alot, but Shift 2 was like a completely different game in a bad way. TBH I really bought it because it had FIA GT1 cars.

SMS have made GTR 1 and 2, BMW challenge, GT legends on pc.

Perhaps you guys who are skeptical can list why NFS Shift was so garbage. I'm not a fan of Shift and pcars is much better already but would like to hear what made PS3 version so bad, was it frame rate, bugs or physics, or the whole style of the game, career modes, joypad controls?

Steering lag, sticky walls and other cars, online hit detection, game freezes, corrupt game saves, sound glitches on night tracks and the livery editor that would change the livery on random other cars when used to name a few.

Well as pointed out steering lag is gone, sticky walls haven't and they've certainly plagued all previous SMS games (Test Drive Ferrari is the same) but let's give them a chance to fix it before the final game.

The other things you mention are just bugs and glitches that affect any dev.

I don't really follow. The platforms are not cross-compatible so why would the liveries? You're going to have seperate communities for each platform when it comes to liveries and that sort of thing, just like if hypothetically Forza launched on PS3 or PC.
3d models are the same, why you want to keep comunity separate? You can just add stuff with USB. Should be an option in a project like this.

And any info about an auction system?

No auction, because there is no in-game monetary system. The cars only become unlocked once the contracts have been offered, or something like that.

Ok for not having money. But how to get new liveries? Are we on our own? Can't we share liveries with friends and stuff?

Liveries will be shareable in game but not cross platform. I don't think either console will allow USB imports of data for security reasons.

The console versions will have a livery editor similar to the one that Forza uses.

I honestly believe that the console versions will be enough to satisfy those without the means to buy the PC version.

So the "Paint Booth" idea I proposed isn't gonna be in. How in hell can the worst NASCAR game ever have this but every other console sim can't? Guess it is too much to ask.

I honestly can't criticize the Ruf and Pagani shots and point out how it could be more real,it really can't unbelievable truely astonishing.

If it wasn't for the wall texture and a few other things, and my main focus was looking at the front wheel of that green Zonda... i would swear blind that i was looking at the real car, not a model in a game.

Dude, nobody knows for sure yet how exactly liveries will be handled. Chill out.

Unreal Tournament III did it on PS3 already. I've installed about 5 mods with no problems.

What idea is that?

Its in this thread here

And in case you aren't a member (I've kinda lost track who is and isn't one in this thread), here's what I said:

RACECAR
Here's how it could work: The car customization templates would be available online, creating Console players endless possibilities for personalization. Players would be able to see their everyone's custom designed car skins when racing against them. The online connectivity would allow players to download a car template from the site (Like carsgame.com for example) and import it into editing programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, giving users a multitude of design options. They could then upload those images into the game (via an online storage like a Locker) and show off their designs on track

And to expand even further, as well as explain where I got the idea:

RACECAR
Are either of you familiar with NASCAR 09? They had a Paint Booth which of course featured the ability to download custom paint schemes for you cars and this could be done on both PS3 and 360. This is basically where I got the idea from And I say this as a person who's created dozens of cars and used that feature so I'm not seeing how it wouldn't be possible just going off that. If anything, I'm more purplexed no one else has tried this idea because I think it would really take off.

As for no in-game paint tool, no where did I say that should be excluded. I'm only suggesting adding this feature, perhaps in addition to the in-game editor. Again, a site can offer up the templates for all the cars (PSD or any other edible format) and then when you want to put it in the game, you save it as a DDS file and then can upload it to the server and then from in the game itself, Download it and voila, your custom skin.

I may have already posted this but incase I didn't, here's the video which shows illustrates what I'm talking about:

Loved the custom car feature in NASCAR 09, and Twisted Metal 2012 has a similar custom car feature as well, and I would love to see something like this in the console version of Project Cars.

I think you need to do some back logging on the news page of WMD. ;)

Ford License (incl. Mustang and GT500): http://www.wmdportal.com/projectnews/eleven-fords-to-be-included-in-project-cars/

I gotta catch up on more news now. But thanks for the links though. 👍

Nicktune
In GT5 (for me) it always felt like the Right-and-left torque vectoring happened at the front of the car even though it should be at the rear... The AYC behave/act better in GT2. 👍

Yep, same here. I drove the Evolution IX GSR again yesterday and I gave it two runs on the 24hr Ring in little to no rain and the next one in halfway to full rain. The Evo IX was on TCS 1, ABS 1 and the other aids off with comfort tires.

The Evo slid around the track on both tests with grace around some of the corners, but the front tires were losing it before the rear tires do, which doesn't happen to any Evolution with AYC, they always lose their rear wheels first.

But when the rain stopped, but still wet roads, the car wouldn't slide around, even the same corners before on both runs and if it did the fronts went first then rear. Can't say about FM's AYC though. But I hope PD does the AYC like GT2-GT4 where the Evos had their slide in GT6 or even a GT5 update.

And I'm with you Shift haters as well. I played Shift 1 before, and it was garbage. The cars felt like they were on a ice rink, just sliding around, heavy understeer, especially the Impreza WRX STi and a few others. The Porsches felt bland and not even feeling the rear coming out from heavy braking or anything to get the rear out. And the drifting stinks, all the aids off and more bias to the rear, the car won't even slide, felt like a brick.

I played for a day, then I completely stopped and deleted everything. Didn't even cared for S2 when it came out. But that EA for you, first screwing with PD/Sony, then T10/MS and messing over SMS like every other game design company out there. And hogging the Porsche license for themselves, because they are scared of competition. 👎

But PCars is going to be a different game and after seeing the their progress and watching the videos from YT, I'm totally impressed what they are doing to PCars. If they made great games before doing that wannabe sim for EA, this is one of their greats that's going to be up there with GTR2 and the rest and I'll still by this game regardless. And I'm seeing they will be behind this, just like PD does with GT and T10 with FM. 👍

@ RACECAR, oh yes now I remember, that is an AWESOME idea, exactly what console version need.

I don't get why SMS didn't pay enough attention to this.

Maybe once they get enough founding they don't wonna be comunity assisted for their racing simulator anymore.

PS: comparative videos are getting old.

Not the case at all, if you were a member you would know it's still community driven, that doesn't mean they can implement every idea. However as pointed out above nothing is finalised yet so just wait and see.
