Is the #51 Viper really in the level 22 ticket? I've been trying all day, and all the Vipers I've found are the #91s.

ugh, sorry Steve, thanks for looking that up Tom.

...I got these percentages by pixel counting. A fully treaded tire in GT5 is 20 pixels fyi :D.

Wardez, I am quite intrigued by this "pixel counting" technique. How in fact is this done (or could you link me to an explanation on how its done)

No problem, I have that thread bookmarked :)

yes mule I'm pretty sure I have it on my old profile, I can send when I get back from work. 👍

I capture the image (but if you can take really still camera shots you can get the reference image that way as well) then I load it into Photoshop (any version) and I have the units of measure changed to pixels from the default (usually inches or cm) then open up the information pallette ( you can open this from the drop down "Window" menu in the toolbar).

After that's set up, you can easily get precise pixel measurements using the marquee/selection box tool as the information pallette displays the real time size of selected areas and coordinates as well.

I usually just crop the reference image down so it's just the tire read out, then I zoom in and measure from above the black line toward the bottom of each wear indicator (blue box).

Note: if you capture at a higher resolution or take a photo at any different resolution or distance away from the TV the pixel "size" of the tire indicator will of course vary.

I measure in 720p raw resolution but you can easily change the image size so there are more pixels, more pixels = higher fidelity. Since I'm measuring the raw pixels I only get 20 in my selection box when measuring a full tire, so I can only get a percentage of 20. So I'm limited to factors of 5 e.g. 45% 50% 55% and so on, but I really don't see a need for it to be tighter than that since on the in-game indicator it can't drop less than a pixel at a time anyway, so the game's also limited by the same step-frequency.

I'll start the area selection from the bottom of the tire and drag it up to get a measurement, and I'll use the selection transformation tool (right click selection > transform selection) to get an exact precise measurement if I need to.

I'll get my number of pixels e.g. 15. Then use that to determine the wear percenatge based against our new tire reference pixel number of 20.

Percentage =(15/20)*100
15 divided by twenty is .75
.75 times 100 is 75.
The tire has worn by 25% with 75% remaining.

that would be great, thanks.

You must use full downforce in order to meet the required PP levels. Checks will be done for both power and PP so that's the second security measure.

Oh and btw, I just wanted to make a little important personal message.

Don't message me on PSN if you want to get in contact to me or ask me a question. I never check my PSN inbox, I don't use PSN to communicate. Either send me an E-mail (deargomez@gmail.com) or just, most easily, PM me here.

Thanks.

👍 Great explanation on the pixel counting. I figured how you got the percentages just wanted to know how you actually counted the pixels. Thanks for taking the time to explain!

Tonight are you going to have another public room open for testing?

If no-one else hosts, I could host. I did some testing earlier and it would be fun to run some practice with others.

Yeah, possibly, but probably more around midnight UTC time or later so we'll see. Anyone else is more than encouraged to open up rooms of their own, simply name the rooms "bit.ly/calmmain" (it's a short link that links directly to the OP of this thread) and be careful of who you guys kick, check PSN's on the team page and identify drivers by simply asking who they are. If people ask about the series or want to join, point them to this thread by telling them the bitly link.

Also, posting practice times is highly encouraged.

I've been using the #91 Viper... on another note.

Tim - thanks for posting those base tunes up, I'll try the Viper & M3 out again later. Found the Viper much easier to control (plus sounds better), but was quicker in the M3 last time round.

The #91 viper would be faster even if u add all 200kg to it, it still is 50kg lighter than the specs for the #51 viper. Im looking forward to getting my nissan dialed in a little more. I do still want to test the audi r8 just havent found one yet, i used to have it till i lost all my data. But till then GO TEAM NISSAN!!

I got a room up because the other one is full of randoms because the host is afk.
Room number: 1472-6118-4216-8215-9212

Sorry I never stayed in the room long when you joined, my brake peddle started sticking :grumpy:, Im going to have to try and get it fixed before the weekend.

Any tips DFGT sticky brake pedal :) EDIT: found a thread hopefully it will work.

P.S. I think Wes (w.g.e) must of fell a sleep hosting.

:p

I was busy on my laptop. Could have kicked some drivers but I didn't know they were much of a distraction.

I sometimes get the sticky break pedal when I don't use it for awhile. All I do is slam my big foot on it a few times and it seems to work lol.

I'm sure there are better ways by cleaning it etc as you do have to maintain these things but this seems the most easiest haha

Yep, that's what I do! And have been doing for quite a while now. The first time I took it to pieces and cleaned it, it solved the problem for quite a long time. 3 or 4 cleans later and the problem comes back within a week. :ouch: To properly solve the issue you have to take the pedal apart totally, as shown in a YT vid in some thread around here...
