Also known as the Yamahammer, this sleeper ran with V8 Mustangs (if not beat them) and absolutely manhandled the V6 Mustangs of the same era. This car which was built by SVT came about because Ford had a contract with Yamaha to build a certain number of engines for them but the project (whatever it was) was scrapped by Ford but Ford had an obligation. So they had a stroke of genius and put the engines in the Ford Taurus. They had SVT build Tauruses with the new V6 and tune them. However when it was released for sale, the reception and sales was surprisingly good and Ford decided to continue building them. However, Mustang fans were not pleased that they were being hunted down by a grocery getter.
On a personal note, I had a chance to speak with a former SVT engineer who helped develop this car and he told me that Ford thought the car would flop so bad that they wanted to protect the name/brand/entity SVT. That's why it became known as SHO or Super High Output. So they didn't put SVT's name on the car. However after discovering such success and Americans' willingness to buy jumped up family sedans. They openly associated their next sleeper project with them. We know it as the Contour SVT.

Additional Information: The ultimate expression of Soichiro Honda's love for engineering, this thing had almost experimental solutions and features everywhwere. The engine had 4 carburetors, was dry sumped and air cooled, and had kind of a ram-air system in which the air was supplied by fans, and spun to 9k in every gear. Twin wiring for everything. FWD but with crossover swing rear axles which neutralized the usual FWD maladies and made it feel almost like a RWD. And that awesome split grille, which was inspired by Hoinda's own Pontiac Firebird. Sadly, it was a commercial failure and less than 50,000 were built.

Engine Displacement?
Engine: electric motor
It still takes up space in the car.
I figured they'd list it, like they do for other cars. If they don't, just say unknownHow are we supposed to know what it is?
I've got no problem with the nameBut that's not what displacement is... Or is it that you just don't want a car named after arguably strange sexual characteristics to end up on the cool wall?![]()

Oh my god Jahgee...I figured they'd list it, like they do for other cars. If they don't, just say unknown
Link to your post, I may have put it on the spreadsheet, but not in the OP, which I've done before. If so I'll add it where it belongs@Jahgee1124 How come my nomination wasn't added to the queue? I updated the information to include what was missing.
