Hey guys! I just got rFactor and would like to know some tips for a beginner:

Firstly, where can I download all the mods? I tried rFactor Central, but it lacked many of the cars that you can find players using on YouTube.

Secondly, what settings are good for a G27 wheel?

It will take forever to find & download all rFactor mods, what you need to do is find a site that runs league's & stuff & they will have links to the mods they use.

I used a site called Bockbierbude, a German site that is also in English. Once you join it gives you an auto-update program & a download ticket number. It keeps you updated with all their latest mods, it'll take all day to download them but there are hundreds of tracks & cars. They have six servers running all week & they run various race series at the weekend.
 
Played some more rFactor this evening. Tried out different cars at Laguna Seca. Drove the Porsche RS Spyder, the Epsilon Euskadi and the Peugeot 908. I'm really enjoying these cars, but I think I found out what I'm missing in the physics. It's the feel of the surface in general. You try to push for better laptimes, but you never seem to have a sense of understeer or oversteer before it's too late.

That said, these guys really did a remarkable job of putting the diesel engine sounds in the game! đź‘Ť

I agree this is a common issue with Enduracers mod, actually my favourite physics come from SuperGT mod. In that mod the feeling is similar to GT5 you can push the car harder than Enduracers.

Another thing I found in these days is I prefer to set the 0% stuff at 100% in Logitech panel (spring, damper, force center spring.) Usually everybody say to keep it at 0% but I have a better feeling at 100% it smooth and polish the FFB harsheness when the wheel countersteer. I'm using GT3 2010 mod.

@ Jav what track is that? Where did you get it? I'm always looking for quality tracks to add to my collection. Thanks in Advance.

That is the 1988 version of Hermanos. Mexican GP circuit. VERY fun for hot lapping, not so much for racing.

Thanks! I'm still having a hard time trying to get the FFB to feel better. At the moment, it's very numb; you don't know how much you need to turn, etc etc.

One more thing, does anybody know how to get rFactor to read neutral gear on the G25/G27 shifter?
 
Make sure "hold button for gear" is set to 1 in your .plr file. I'm not sure if you can set it from within rFactor, but editing your plr will do the trick :)

Where would rFactor find that picture?!?!?!?!?!?!?!


EDIT: Also, should this be something I should be worrying about? It's happened every once and awhile ever since I've gotten rFactor. What can I do to prevent it from continuing?

What the.....Is that a virus or something? Try getting "MalwareBytes" a super duper anti malware sweeper that lets you use it for free to scan and remove malware etc....Of course i dont actually know if its a virus. Just run whatever anti-virus/malware etc yo uhave and see what comes up.

Not Hitler lol.
I was able to see his eyes at one point, but didn't recognize him.
 
Did a quick scan with McAffee, ran a full scan just to be safe. Sure enough, there were two Trojans. "Generic Downloader.x!ggq" and another one with a similar name...
 
OK, solving a few issues with my new PC build then I'll be ready for some proper multilayer racing! If anything like a one race event is happening this weekend please let me know. Cheers.
