I started Gt 2 with Mazda Demio and it was real fun. Unfortunately you could get only 400hp to it, but if I remember a racing mod was available. ;) I think I'll go for the Demio this time too. It must be great fun trying not to end rolling it over now that it is possible.

Started with Silvia K's in GT4, thinking Silvia Q's might be a better idea since it's cheaper and just as moddable. It will also be fun to start out with it NA so that the sunday cup is a bit more of a challenge for the first races.

I'm wondering, will the Silvia Q's make more power than the K's when you put a stage 1 turbo kit on both since the NA engine has a higher CR? Or will the stage 1 kit decrease CR with a thicker headgasket?

Kaz also said this, apparently,
A free tip, though, start with either the Silvia Q's or the Honda Civic Type R for best results.

Unless I'm reading that wrong and that was the posters comment on the end.

I wouldn't want to start with the Demio. It's not very practical, and like you said easy to roll over. However, with the right set up, it may be a nice little car. But 400 HP in this little guy? I don't know.

Haha the Demio A-spec. While a zippy little car in real life for its size, one of the slower joke cars in gt1 haha.

Wait, if that's true, that would mean my favourite starting cars (Mitsubishi GTO, Supra Twin-Turbo Mk.1 & Skyline R32) won't be available from the start? Nooooo~:dunce:

It could just mean you will have money left over to modify if you buy one of these cars, and as they are both extremely modifiable, offer great bang for the buck.

eg. You have 10k, spend 3k on the car, then you're able to do a stage 1 turbo kit making it have more power than the standard unmodified more expensive cars like the ones you mentioned.

I'm not a huge fan of Silvias, would rather a 32GTR for my starting car, but that kind of spoils the "work your way up" feeling of the game a little... I want to start with a NA, low power cheap car with good upgrade potential. Not that the GTR is anything too mind blowing standard, I just feel that starting at a lower point will make the experience more fun for me:)

How did you survive the sound of the Demio in GT2??? :scared:

I started GT2 with a Prelude 2.2 VTEC '91 and a FTO in GT4, so i hope there are no cars for bronze or silver licenses because it ruins the adventure of starting with a cheap car.

I will most likely start with the same prelude as I did in GT2 or go for an all new option.

Starting car will depend on whats available and really what Im in the mood to drive. There are certain ringer cars for sure but With each game Ive started with different vehicles. Though chances are the car will be of Japanese or European origin but often they are cars that were available globally.

Yeah, must admit they gave you goosebumbs. I think the engine sounds in overall were quite lame, so it really wasn't a problem. But the Demio made the beginners cups a challenge, so it made the start of the game more challenging and thus more exciting and rewarding.
Nevertheless the Demio ended up being quite a beast and it was somewhat competitive against anything but the racing modded cars and escudo; having approx. 400hp and weighing 800kg the power/weight ratio was equivalent with the Bugatti Veyron and it having a racing mod it had unreal grip in the corners.

It's not a beauty in any ways, but I really had fun with it.

That's why I think It'll be my starter as it's even a bigger challenge in gt5 not to keep it from rolling over.

I always did enjoy the Demio (MPV), I had it in that greenish pearl color.

It doesn't work that way. Buy a 3k car and throw 12k into it and you'll most likely end up on par with a 15k car from the start. I've been trying to do that with GT4 the past few weeks and that's how it usually ends up. Buy the cheaper version of a car instead of the top version and in the end for about the same money, they perform about the same. There will be an exception or 2 but it's how it works. Of course once you get into the supercars and high $ modded cars it becomes different.

Del Sol is also a great choice for a starting car, used it when I started playing GT2. Very strong car considering how light the damn thing is. Then saved up and bought a R32 haha.

I think it would be fun to start out with a '99 Chevy Cavalier Z24, since I own one. I would think it would be inexpensive enough to buy right away.

Who needs easier?! I don't believe any GTPlanet nerds will need a break to make GT5 easier (myself included.) That's why I'd like to start with an entry level VW similar to my own that would easily be blown away by a Type R Honda.

Suit yourself though. The unique experience for everyone is what makes it Gran Turismo.

After my VW does it's work, I probably won't buy many fwd cars moving forward... that alone may be enough for all FWD series, but who knows.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there are a many of FWD cars in the game that will run circles around your VW. You wont even make it past the EVO VIII or Impreza STI in that car, and we're not even gona mention the Skyline R34 or the Audi's. You're gona need to uprade cars as soon as you hit the 4WD races lol.

I had 2 del sol's in real life, one with a b16a DOHC 160hp like the SiR's in GT. Loved that car. 8200rpm redline ftw.

That's what I was thinking; a Q's and K's will end up roughly the same, price-wise, if you have to get the Q's performing to the K's level. Plus, you'll hit the "ceiling" sooner in the former. I think that's why I stuck with the MA70 Supra in GT1; it was pretty heavy off the bat against starter cars, but it had the ability to go up against some pretty serious machinery as it was upgraded. Then I threw that strategy away in GT2 with an '82 Starlet and all of 71hp

I really want to start the game with a Premium car, so I'm wondering what my choices will be, past the license prizes (and perhaps Driving Missions or something equivalent, if they return). There's not a lot of options so far shown that could fit in a 10K limit; kei cars, mostly, and maybe the Evo IV depending on used prices. '89 300ZX and '88 Supra also might squeak under. Oh, and the ubiquitous Miata!

WHere are you guys getting this 10k limit from, was that confirmed? Even GT3 started out at 18k and GT4 was more then that if memory serves me correctly, I don't think they would do 10k.

GT1: 10K
GT2: 10K
GT3: 18K (due to no used cars)
GT4: 10K

Some demos have shown a 35K amount, but considering the history, it's not a huge jump to assume we get a 10K limit again.

Oh I see. have used cars been confirmed for GT5? in GT4 I got to carry over credits for having GT3 so I couldn't exact;y remember that one.

Inflation is not simulated apparantly ;), on the subject, I also want to start the game with a Premium car ( to not get in a bad mood immediately ) and I wonder whether there will be used ones, I guess there must be some although I reckon the selection won't be huge.

Wasn't 35K also the starting amount for GT5P ?

I wonder if the used cars for the online mode will be the same for everyone or if the cars and pruces will be randomly generated within figures. And if you will have a time limit to buy a certain used car.

Same as usual, EK Civic Type-R hopefully in championship white.

That will be alot to start with, especially since in past GT's there were good car's below 10k. That would leave 10k more for tuning before you even race. Hopefully it will be less than 15k or just more difficult beginning races.

I don't like the idea of tuning before driving a stock car.

Eunos Roadster. Stock. Sunday Cup all day.

In GT4 u couldnt tune the Silvia Q's with turbo if my memory doesnt let me down..

I really want the 300ZX but if I can't afford it I'll just go through the license tests.

Edit: Come to think of it I've had great runs with the Mazda RX-7 GT-X so I can always go with that.

Damn, that's a let down if it's still true for GT5.

I'm now thinking an FC RX-7 since I love the shape and it's premium. FD RX-7 I also love, but I'm feeling like something '80's to start with.
