They aren't going to be kept apart!

Think about it.

We are up to 12 votes for an american car. I still find that interesting. Whats a good American starter anyway?

Only cars that I think of are Neon and PT Cruiser. The rest like pickups and things like that would not make it to my first car. IMO most of us think the same on this one. Take a car with the most BHP with the less weight for the buck.

Why? A complete lack of faith in the Standard cars on behalf of the PR is a pretty good clue that they may be separate. Even more so if there's full body mods for the premiums and standards are stuck with the GT4-era addenda [wheels, race wings].

I agree. Don't forget to factor 1.5K for weight reduction one and two.

I can't believe people think that standards and premiums will be split. Really, I sweare you guys just have nothing to talk about cause it doesn't make any sence that the cars will be split up.

I dunno, If they do end up split I'll be very very suprised.

I'll be getting my grubby hands on a Eg6 if it is available. I had an EH2 with a b18c swap but it was stolen, so i look forward to visiting my old hatch in the game.

probably the AE86, if not, then the 2002 Subaru Impreza (i'm not completely sure what year it was, might of been a 1998, but most likely that one, since it was my starter in gt4 before i had to make space on my memory card and then i stated again, the second time it was an AE86) but hell, if they have my camaro in the used area in the budget limit, i'll spent every credit i have to get it  (or the 1988 IROC Camaro concept, that was in gt4, and was the closest to my car, cept it had a huge ugly wing on the back that disturbed me, lol)

I didn't realize that standard and premium cars would have different physics. Becuase separating them based on visual quality and interiors does not really seem like something PD would do.

i think standard cars will be able to mingle, only difference being standard cars:
-lacking cockpit view
-less customization
-less damage

They don't

10,000cr most likely. GT2 had 10,000, gt3 had 18,000 and gt4 had 10,000. However if what Amar suggested is true, that you never have to touch a standard car to bea the game, it might be more to purchase a cheap premium.

Thinking more about this, from the pictures we've seen, I'm thinking it will be 35,000 credits. Even though the pictures are likely mock-ups and not final, they share the 35xxxx combo among the US and JP screens.

Prologue also started with that much too.

And you're pretty annoying. I once had a pet Cobra in 2003 and I learned how to put it in my butt. It must've since you know that fancy wiper blades reduce your drag and make your car go so much faster.

yeah my wipers add 10bhp and my stickers add 5bhp each!!

You're treading dangerously.

Dave, I hope 35K isn't the starting figure, that just seems too... easy.

It does seem high but that's what the recent mock ups shots were showing. It would make some sense if they want you starting with a premium car.

Eh, I guess I can't complain, since I already know my course of action is to get as many gold license bonus cars as I can at first. Provided they aren't all unique, I won't mind adding mileage to them, so it might be a while before I actually purchase a car. So I guess I already know future-me's answer: "B License Gold car"... whatever that may be. Still, I'm hoping it's a mockup, because there are still some Premiums that could be had for a lot less than 35K.

For craps and giggles, to further conversation, my purchase history for console GT's has been:

GT1: MA70 Supra
GT2: '82 Starlet
GT3: AE86
GT4: M Coupe (no credit transfer, just prize money)

Acura is Honda's line of American luxury cars. The past games have classified them as a American manufacturer.

But it's also a Honda Integra. Either way Acura is/was American, but it's also sold in Japan as well as Lexus/Infiniti

SRT-10 ACR in blue with white stripes, max weight reduction with racing transmission. My PS3 might have died, but I'm still importing 2 million from GT5P and going straight online.

I'd like to go with my IRL car, a 2009 Subaru Impreza 2.5i sedan. But if the current body style Impreza NON-turbo doesn't make it into the game, which would be a shame, I'd like one of my other IRL cars that might be in GT5..

--1980 Datsun Nissan 200sx ...or something close, what was that named in Japan?
--1986 Dodge Charger Shelby 2.2L turbo ....or similar, not holding breath on that one, fun as hell car though!
--1986 VW Golf 1.8L ...great little car
--1985 Honda Prelude 2.0si ...probably won't be in there :-( -but the Accords of that time period are somewhat similar in GT
--2001 Subaru Legacy GT ...doesn't really count, mostly my X-wife drove that, then smashed it in drug induced haze.. that beee-och- I left her shortly after that.

Ironically, if it weren't for all the years playing through GT1, 2, 3, 4, and 5p, I probably wouldn't have purchased a Subaru for my first and only brand new car. Since the early GT series I always loved the Subbies.. Couldn't afford a brand new WRX just yet though IRL. Maybe someday.

Other than that, I'm getting licences first, but like people mentioned they will do earlier, I might get slower cars on purpose so the races are harder and more challenging. Yes I wrote all that, I have a cold and headache and can't sleep. :-/

I`ve been thinking about this now GT5 is almost here. A nice low milage used car to start off with. Something multi-purpose and bang for your buck like a Lancer EVO or a WRX. With one of these you can get quite far into the game by adding/removing parts for speed and handling. It gets you all through the early stages of the game and you can use it in the turbo and 4WD class races. Once it is no longer capable of winning races or simply punching above it`s weight it`s time to move on to something better.

interesting

That sounds like a good plan if the events are fundamentally set up as they have in previous editions.
