If there is a cheap Premium one I will go for that, but not sure what it will be. I wont be a premium snob, it would just be nice to start with one. Perhaps the C4 if its cost is low enough (and because I drive one).

An RX7 probably. If there's anything other than the RX7 that I fancied after a couple of hours looking through the Used Car Lot, then I'll probably buy that or something. Usually an Integra. :sly:

integra is japanese.. just sayin..

Honda Integra=JDM

Acura Integra = American Market, different headlight design.

Honda Integra Type-R is hottest:tup:

Acuras dont exist in Japan.

Starting Credits, GT5P had like what 15-18k with NO used car dealers, so we might get 10-12 with used dealers.

35 is wayy too much, you can practically get a new sports car.

Edit: just checked GT5P IS 35K, with no used lots so maybe 15-20 with used lots??

It really depends on the credits I guess. Cause ideally, I would love to start with a Nissan Skyline GTS-t Type M R32, you know the 1989. Reason being is that I had a lot of good memories with that car in GT4.

Wow, go pop in GT4 and tell me which country ACURA is listed under. Better yet find me an Acura dealer in Japan.

But it's also a Honda Integra. Either way Acura is/was American, but it's also sold in Japan as well as Lexus/Infiniti

Acura is not sold in Japan. Lexus only began selling cars in Japan in 2005, Infiniti is not sold in Japan either.

but where did acura come from? honda. where did honda come from? japan. exactly.
We are talking about the game, are we not?

A game based on reality, which Acura is obviously Japanese.

Can't be that real if they list acura as an american company. Makes sense though as Acura was created solely for the american market.

I guess it's just your definition really.
Acura must sound fancy to Americans, or something

Unfortunately my real-life car won't be in the game ('05 GTO) and the closest thing to it in the game will 99% chance be standard (no interior) and too expensive.

So, my first car will be whatever I win from the license tests. Couldn't tell you what country it will be from, but given past GT games I'd say it has a good shot at being Japanese ;)

In the context we're talking about, it's the only definition.
I'm not denying acura is a sub division of Japanese company. The question was what a good starter american car in GT5 would be. Based on previous games, I said acura integra, ford focus, and a cobalt SS, to which smarty decided wasn't right.

Acura is not an American car. It is a Japanese car sold under a brand name that is only available in the US. Just because a video game lists a dealership under a certain country does not mean it is an American car.

It's not only available in the US but otherwise thanks for repeating what I said.
In GT4, gt3, gt2, and GT it was an american dealer.

thank you! good way to explain it! some people are just too ignorant to look at it that way

Small word from a very small man. Maybe you should backtrack to what the conversation was originally about before you go any further.

oh okay, because the game says that integras are american.. you win! hooray! good job buddy!
Well, yeah, we're talking about american cars in the game. Thanks.
Ease back with the double posting. Very annoying and inconsiderate, also against the rules.

Actually, seeing how a good portion of their products are designed and built solely with the US (and Canada) in mind... perhaps. As far as I know, only two Acuras aren't built on this continent; the TSX and RL. One could argue Acura is more of an American company than, say, Lexus or Infiniti, who sell a lot of their products in the homeland rebadged under their parent company's umbrella. Still a Japanese creation, though.

Re-read Dave's posts; he's not arguing that Acura isn't a Japanese sub-brand. Pretty sure almost nobody would argue that. But he is right about it being considered as such in all previous GT's. And that is the entire point of his first post; a good starter American car. In Gran Turismo, Acuras qualify.

If the Lancer EVO I is in it will be that car because it was my first car in GT4, but if only from the confirmed carlist it will be the Honda Integra Type R, it was my first car in GT5p:P

Globalization is what cause the stir up, and how difficult to quality from where a car really belong to.

In this case, as weird as it may sound to some of you, as a french of asian descent living in the U.S, i consider Acura to be Japanese.

But i guess the final word has to come from a Japanese (here Kaz) who consider Acura (a subdivision of an Japanese based car manufacturer) as American...

so i dont really agree with him, but i accept and does not mind having GT5 making the differentiation.

Not trying to win. Just pointing out the facts of the game. Which is What Dave-sz was talking about when he said an Acura could be a good American starting car. I even made a positive comment on your behalf regrading your choice for your first car:)

Anyway, back on topic. If the game starts with 10000 credits I will start with a Mazda Mx-5. If it starts with 20000 or more I will look for something nice used. Early 90s Mr2 or a WRX.

I'd love my first ever car from Gran Turismo 1, the older Honda Prelude, in a dark blue please. Ahh the memories.
