The Australian guy and his (stolen) retail copy of GT5. Legit or fake ?

I have noticed that pirates tend to have a self entitlement complex. When the PS3 was hacked a few months ago, all I ever saw were comments from people who felt that it was within their right to steal games and that Sony deserved to have this happen to them. I don't really care if people pirate games, its not my problem after all, but don't try to justify it or even talk about it openly. I mean seriously, how dumb are these people?

Pirates started out as spoiled brats, I'm sure. I used to have a friend who complained about paying for entertainment yet wanted to work in entertainment. Kid's over 25 and he still hasn't figured out it's just another way to make money and doesn't exist just to make people happy. He's why we can't have nice things. :ouch:

You do realize that his PS3 is probably broken 'cause he's been playing illegal copies of games on his system. I'm pretty sure if you steal a game from a production facility and try to play it on your PS3, Sony's going to instantly know about it and brick your system. So, let this be a lesson to everyone: Pirating is bad and illegal and it could mean you have to buy a new PS3.

NO WAY.

Just because a guy pirated something/stole a copy or however you'd like to say illegally obtained, you think its possible/okay for a company to destroy your personal property that you paid for.....through the internet?

:odd:

The most they can possibly do is ban you for life from PSN or something along those lines. See the cases of pirated forza copies and Microsofts action against those who played it online.

Plus, whether the guy is lying or not, he described blu-ray laser problem to a T. This exact thing happened to my PS3 over the summer.

Sony would brick your PS3... right...

The lesson here is not to get carried away with an assumption and then try to turn it into a lesson as if it was fact ;)

Sony's got to have some way of defending against pirates. But most likely, I'd say they deleted his PSN screen name or something. And I wouldn't be surprised if Sony AND Microsoft had the power to brick systems of repeat offenders. I mean, if they ban one account and you just create another one and repeat your illegal activities, instead of going through legal issues, it would simply be easier to have a kill switch to brick offending systems.

You pretty much have it correct. The most Sony can do is ban your console from accessing the internet. He'll have to get a new system and a new PSN account.

No, you are watching to much CSI or something. This isn't possible. They just do a MAC Address ban and the console won't be able to get onto PSN again.

That screen from Black Ops is the real deal, but there are hundreds, if not thousands of people who have the full retail game already (actually for about a week now). So really, unless that screen of the killstreaks was posted a long time ago, it isn't really significant. Also, there was a private beta for Black Ops, but i am not ceratin as to whether killstreaks were selectable for that.

that was posted 24th of October. Dunno if that's early enough to mean anything.

Dude, nobody in any case regarding anything has a right to destroy or deface somebody else's property. Thankfully, we do not live in a world that largely supports an eye for an eye tactics, although granted at times that's questionable.

You're probably right. But, you'd be surprised at what is possible. Until you have proof that it isn't possible, then it is possible. Granted if you stayed offline, Sony couldn't do anything. But, I still don't think it's not completely out of the realm of possibility that Sony and MS could brick systems. And it probably wouldn't be too hard to disguise it as a "normal system failure".

for me it looks like a fake!

just take a look at these
zoom a bit in.. and you will notice what i mean!!

the edge looks wavy and not a clean straight line
for me it looks as if it were cut out dirty with scissors

Omg, if they ever did such a thing and got caught they would be in for such a world of hurt, and you can be sure they would get cought eventually, as for the jailbreak it´s less of an problem than most think, atleast sofar.

Online play thru PSN isn´t even possible with a jailbroken PS3 period, to sign in it requires you to update to the latest firmware and that means bye, bye jailbreak, for now there is no way around this.

@Below SuperShouden, No they have not what they have done is ban systems not bricking them but in doing so the console is perma banned from accessing live network tho.

Jordan said you are not allowed to post the image again.

Edit: I think I made that up, sorry. I guess Jordan was talking about his personal info.

ok sry.. i didnt know.. I will delete it

This is all strangely reminiscent of a certain Apple leak not too long ago  The speculation will go round and round.

I don't see why it even matters. What if the game is real? You're still not playing it. If somebody manages to put videos up it's not going to make the game come any sooner and you'll just be spoiling the experience of the real release by watching them. And if the game is somehow loaded onto the interwebz, how many of you are actually going to pirate it? Lets be honest here

I think the image is fake. Just comparing it to the GT5 Prologue disc that says Polyphony Digital with a small R in a circle but this one says TM. Look at the cover art released for GT5 and it clearly says Polyphony Digital with a R in a circle, why would the disc be different?

yeah maybe you are right... but you see it very clearly

It's really weird that even Jordan isn't giving an explanation for what's happening. He's doing pretty much what Sony is doing and keeping us in the cold.

Yeah, but Microsoft didn't really get in too much trouble 'cause they were bricking system that were playing pirated software. And they wouldn't have gotten caught if they hadn't bricked them all at once. And those systems did just get a RROD. And it does mean that MS at least has the power to brick systems and I'm sure Nintendo and Sony have that power, too.

I will admit, the his "broken system" might not be the result of Sony cracking down on him, but, he did post Black Ops stuff before it was released and a week later, his system is suddenly broken? Hmm...interesting timing, don't you think?

Also, it might be that by "broken" he means that he can't play online any more.

Plus one on that one. If it was fake I think Jordan would have let us known it was fake. It is pretty weird that that he removed it don't you all think?

these thought makes sense!

and again.. speculation :D

That image looks a bit iffy. the resolution between the cloth the disc is sitting on is pin sharp and the disc itself seems a lot lower and slightly pixilated. lower right looks very iffy, pasted on in fact. The image posted on here looks ok while the original at imageshack looks awful. Calling fake on this one, expect one a day until release date anounced......hopefully it will give Sony the incentive to make a move now and get the details out.

I'm sure it's entirely possible, they simply could push out an update with a known broken piece and brick everyones console if they wanted to.

Would they?

I don't think there is any possible way they would. If you were big enough of a fish for that, they would just send the cops to get you and your pirate BluRay pressing factory or whatever.

No I don't think MS has ever been confirmed of bricking a system.

People get RROD and sometimes conveniently right during dashboard updates, however even no pirates have this happen so it's far more likely it's just millions of 360's getting updated in a short period of time and a few of them RROD'ing and being blaimed on updates.

You are continuing to make assumptions and then take them as fact... it's kind of like watching Fox News make up the news...

BTW if his PS3 were only broken as in "can't play online anymore" why would that stop him from playing GT5 offline and showing pictures/vids?

Sure something´s going on here.

I hope they move their sticks and try to act like a real company.

ANNOUNCE THE GAME ALREADY! HOLLY SHEEET!!!!

So let me get this staight. The guy actually stole this copy?Man that guy has a lot of nerve to do something like this. 👎

He's doing what's best for himself, this site, and future GTP-PD\Sony relations...
