Thanks Jimmy. I like your point 3. I never thought about that.

With the power and low cost of a PC or laptop there is little point to a "game console". Many "kids" now have a laptop or a hand-me-down PC. It's hard to justify a $400 game console that can only be used for games and duplicates the online features you can get on a PC, cable TV box, DVD player and some new TVs.

GT6 isn't really a Gran Turismo game at all because it's not complete and we don't have all the features we need (most notably we don't have all the cars in the game in arcade mode and we don't have the course maker, etc.) It's slowly turning into an Adventure time game every time PD updates GT6 and doesn't deliver what we need or when PD delays updates.

Well lazywolfe, this IS the "The GT6 Epic Whining and Crying Thread". Did you end up here by mistake?

Occasionally a couple of us will get off on a tangent but if you go back even a few pages you'll find what your looking for. I'm glad you remain positive that what is said in the forums will guide Kaz and PD in improving the game.

New seasonal events are out! . . . . SQUIRREL

Why not rent it or read a few reviews before buying it? What does buying it on day 1 accomplish? I'm not knocking it, just trying to understand.

Cant always trust reviews. I want to see for myself if its any good. Then I can decide for myself if PD is worth spending any more of my time on.

Hey, PM me what you originally said. It's all in good fun! :)
Don't recall exactly. I misread your post as telling people to stop whining and responded with, "this is the epic whining and crying thread blah blah blah". Kneejerk reaction after misreading the context of your post.

@lazywolfe Please stop multi posting.

I've merged your last four together, but will not be doing so again. The FAQ's and etiquette on the site are both quite clear that this is not acceptable, as such I would ask you to use the tools that all members have to quote multiple people in a single post (its rather simply you just hit the reply button for all of them and they get stacked in the reply box at the bottom)

Might as well just put up "new" seasonals every week that are called "GSX/R4 Time Trial" and "Chapparral 2J Time Trial", as those two vehicles punch way above their PP's ability so that's what everyone who wants a quick time uses. I'd like to enter a seasonal thread or have a look at the online leaderboards and see a variety of cars duking it out for the top spot, but it's always a one car time trial. Yawn.

I get more satisfaction getting a selection of econoboxes/old muscle cars into the gold times than using the same boring cheat mobiles every week.

I really think if GT7 sticks to the same path as 5 and 6 (aging formula, copy pasting all around and wtf design decisions), people will just lose interest in the series, and it will be slowly moved back to the 'miscellaneous' section of gaming.

For now it still was running on the fuel of it's past successes and millions of people still hang on to the series, but the way it is going i think many will just turn their backs on it and move on if things stay the same on PS4, not bothering to even complain about it anymore in the epic whining and crying thread.

If something like this would happen, i wonder sometimes how it will affect GTP :boggled:.

The one thing that GT6 does prove is that it's no longer an automatic success to simply put GTX on the label like it was for 12-13 years. Whatever the reason is, be it stagnation and boredom, racing game sales in general, not listening to fan feedback, not delivering on promised features or any other of the myriad concerns, GT now has to chase an audience or win back much of it's previous audience to be successful in the future. Several million people did not purchase this game for some reason and we are left to speculate why but I think most of us with an open mind agree, doing more of the same is definitely not the answer. They need to revolutionize in some way, not with moon missions or blades of grass or insects modeled with 10,000 polygons because those things don't sell games. A good, solid, enjoyable gameplay experience sells games and that's what's lacking from GT IMO. If you add in all the promised features, get the AI up to speed and revamp the engine sounds, you'd really have something here, assuming the features actually work well and don't just pay lipservice to their intended function.

To be fair, that's always going to happen. It's the nature of competition that once the word is out for the best car everyone will want to use it. Look at the Rivals leaderboards on Forza. The first couple hundred spots are usually one car, even in the events as innocuous as the drag race ones.

The issue is more that the 2J (in particular, but not as the only example) still is dramatically under leveled for how much performance it offers. And the PP system sucks, which doesn't help, but doesn't hurt as much as it seems.

Variety is an easy situation to remedy though. Simply use other parameters other than PP. Weight/HP/Drivertrain etc + limited use of ballast and power limiter. Sure one car will probably rise to the top but at least it would not be a 2J or the Gixxer.

In GT5 the Chaparral 2J was even more of a killer before an update knocked it down a few pegs.

One point Lewis made that I agree with is yes, there are cars that will give you the best time, BUT the fun is in getting a "standard" nonrace car to get the Gold. That is the only thing that keeps me interested in the "Time Trials". I personally don't care about my international ranking, but can I get gold in a 600PP event in a 450PP car? That's my GAME!

I'm curious about what the FIA partnership might bring to the table, but still, I have very little confidence in GT7 to depart from the path of its predecessors. The remaining USP of the series at this point seems to be big numbers; ''Look at all the cars and track variations we have!''. I honestly cannot longer see anything else that it has going for it as it stands. I'm sincerely hoping that I'll (at some point) be proven wrong and be able to happily drop my cynicism towards PD.

For now, I'm patiently awaiting answers for the worlds most drawn-out Q&A and avoiding the GT7 forum unless something piques my interest (there are only so many times I can bother complain about S/P cars in vain).

If something like this would happen, i wonder sometimes how it will affect GTP :boggled:.
GTPlanet will be fine, if such thing were ever to happen. It's a rather large community. The site has a lot more to offer, in my opinion. Of course, the GT section will have a noticebale less activity whereas others will most likely enjoy increased activity. Survival of the fittest?

So it's been more than a month now and Yamauchi hasn't posted the "to be continued" article of sounds regarding GT. I am sick of it. I mean, they (PD) opened this pitstop blog and it hasn't been up to any low expectaction. I am starting to lose hope.

I wonder if we'll reach a point with the Blog where we conclude PD/Kaz is simply trolling us...making us think we'd get communication about the game...and giving us a racing blog instead:ill:
It's here sweeties!:

Albeit consisting of some bad excuses IMO.

Yes the latter GT games have a lot of cars and tracks, but in reality this is only a handful. How many versions of skylines are there? Essentially all the same on paper bar offer different cabins etc. Of the vast number of tracks only very few are used in the actual game. The lattest red bull was only implemented and used during the seasonal time trial bar anyone utilising it online or arcade/personal time trial. I'd like to see a revamped career, wasn't gt6's meant to be longer? Well it felt like the shortest in the whole series.

A rule of thumb I take is - if a game is purposely made for online gameplay it's generally crap. Though if it's purely made for single player it's decent then even better if multi is thrown as an additional option. It's a lot easier to tweak the multiplayer section than the single play section as that's the games core. Just take a look at previous GT titles.

Hi, just back trolling the News section....
Anyone wish to take a guess how long before they (Kaz-PD) answer any more of these questions everyone has kindly posted for them? I think the few (couple, several, MANY) is well and truly up...
I mean, c'mon.....:dunce:

Doesn't really matter I guess, it will be a lie in any case when they do answer something.
  • New Community Club features will not go live until January. (of what year??) :banghead:
Based around the town of Zahara de la Sierra in Andalusia, Spain, the new track will be the longest in GT6 - longer than even the Nurburgring Nordschleife’s 26km of tarmac. As previously announced, it will be released in February, along with the Red Bull X2014 Standard and X2014 “Fan Car” models.

I couldn't really be bothered going right back through ALL the old news section, but I thought I remembered them saying that "standards" would NOT be in GT7 too. Long ago of course. :indiff:

In the mean time, I have Grid A/S and find it ok. Haven't had much time with it, but the racing is vastly improved compared to chasing rabbits. 👍

Also got Sniper Elite. :D

Out of curiosity how many more VGT cars are to come? I lent this to a friend some 6 months ago and im getting it back next week XD Take it no course maker or b-spec yet?
