Come on guys. Did noone bother to watch this awesome video?

Mike

Aw crap, i think it all died. It was a really awesome video too, the guy got so close to the edge in this crazy rally hotrod type peugeot!

Sorry guys, I'd host it myself if i had some space :guilty:

Mike

Okay well here is a picture from the vid, just so you can see how close he comes to losing it!

the videos sik mike I love real life rallying but I really wish they would allow you to fall of the edge of mountain rally tracks in gt4 like grand canyon because my mate keeps using the walls in multiplayer :(

ya maybe in gt5 you could roll off the edges?, that would be awsome  , thats why for rally games i like Colin McRae Rally 2005, you can roll off the edges + flip your cars, damage your car and lose tires :) , not to mention stall your car

yer WRX racer 04 I definatly love colin mcrae for simulation rallying and i was a little disapointed with the rallying in gt4 buy hey let's hope polyphony digital offices actually read these forums lol, gt5 BRING IT ON!!! :p

I think that video was posted here before in another forum section. That's the "Climb Dance" video right? ;)

(yes I'm too lazy to download and check it myself lol)

Yes spooony, by the looks of that thumbnail, it is Climb Dance. There was a very detailed thread about this on the GT4 forum a few months ago, when there was speculation that pikes peak would be in GT4. I think that you would have to have a rally specific game to get across the coolness of pikes peak. For example, when you are driving Grand Canyon, do you feel scared? Of course not. When you hit the edge, either those impenetrable orange barriers stop you, or very dense air acts as a cushion ( :sly: ). So untill GT83 comes out with damage modelling, stick with another game.

It was in GT2 wasn't it? and if you look close at the video, you can see the red escudo "pike's peak" version

I saw no Escudo. Where was it?

Only thing in the video is the Peugeot 405.

It wasn't racing, only standing there next to the road(dont know if its the escudo for sure)

Here is another link to that video (just search pikes peak)

That's Ari Vatanen driving a Peugeot 405T16 at the Pikes Peak 1988, beating the previous years time set by Walter Rohrl in his Audi Sport Quattro by under a second. I've included some pictures, and also a link to the video you were trying to post in Quicktime format

Yes, but do you see the attachment I made, is it the escudo on the background?

To be honest, that doesnt look like an escudo, it is red and it has a big wing, but the tires are exposed and look a big for an escudo. Looks more like a dune buggy with a big wing. But good catch, I didnt see that when I watched climbdance.

yeah, I think the "escudo" in the picture looks like another class of car.

As for pikes peak itself, I was so hoping itd be in gt4, i loved it in GT2. Although even GT2 wasn't as scary as the real thing. when you go up the switchbacks towards the top, all you see is a road pointing into the sky.

I want pikes peak back!!!

The Pikes Peak in GT2 was only a small portion of the course from Elk Camp to the Devil's Playground. The scenery is all wrong, as that segment is entirely above the treeline, and the summit is still a few miles away. Ity would be nice to have the uncut Pikes Peak.

but, would you rather have the nurburgring, or pikes peak? i loved pikes peak in GT2, but with the horrible rally control i dunno.

The Ring and PP are very similar, they both scare the Hell out of me.

It is not an Escudo. That video is way before the Escudo came along. Pikes Peak is one of my favorite things to go to each year. I have a friend who is from 20 minutes away in Colorado and we stay with his family. "Climb Dance" probably does the most justice to the mountain, but there is still nothing like being there and seeing everything from dirt bikes to unlimited class cars to big rigs race up that "hill." Here is a link to all the pics I have taken in the years I have gone to the Hill Climb.
