FUNNEL CLOUD:
Note to photographers: When you see a funnel cloud reaching down out of a stormy sky, the correct response is usually Run! Brazilian photographer Helio C. Vital made a different choice. Click! He snapped this picture on Feb. 7th from Rio de Janeiro:

"The cloud appeared about a half hour before sunset," says Vital. "It was part of a thunderstorm cell that was approaching, announcing the arrival of a new weather system that would bring rain to the city several hours later."

Meteorologists call this type of cloud a "tuba" -- a swirling mass of moist air that can hang down from an active thunderstorm. A tuba that touches the ground gets a new name: tornado. "Fortunately, in spite of its threatening appearance, this tuba did not reach the ground and no damage was reported," says Vital.

Finally some decent snow again! Even better was that most of it fell when I was a good 10 kilometers from home. The mighty Daihatsu fought its way through it like a champ.

Only downside was the Dacia that was in front of me pretty much the entire way causing this:

I wanted to go slip and slide but noooooo, Mister Dacia driver ruined all the fun.

The storm that is drenching California is making its way though Arizona right now. And this was captured in north Phoenix earlier today.

Unseasonably warm temperatures, about 55 degrees Fahrenheit, allowed me to go on my first outdoor run of the year this evening.

TB
It's 11:00pm.
In Fargo, ND.
And it's still 52F.

Got to around 50F today, rained in the morning and got rid of all the snow.

And I woke up to a rumble of thunder last night too :irked:

@TB @Cowboy

At lease you won't have to deal with what I am going to have to deal with.

Rain today. Record warmth Tuesday/Wednesday Cooling Thursday. Foot of snow on Friday.

Can I shove this snow up there?

Winter weather advisory, which means MORE SNOW WTF

At lease it's just an "Advisory"

Winter Storm Watch for Thursday Night - Friday Night.
6-12 with higher amounts. 🤬

After hitting a record high today of 62 or 63. :banghead:

@TB I am going to transport it right to your house.

9 & 3/4 inches of rain this February so far. An 1/8th of an inch shy of a record. Should break that tomorrow. Dodging land slides and roads that are ponds.
I love the Pacific Northwest. But all this rain and gray atmosphere drags me down with its insistence.

So the latest forecast has come up.

Mankato, MN
6" At lease
10" Most Likely
20" Potential.

20" Um. Anyone else want this? @TB?

Today, the high is forecast for 78 degrees. Tomorrow, the high is forecast for 80 degrees. The high Friday is forecast to be 57. It has been doing this for a few weeks now.

Well we got 0" of snow. @TB want this snow?
Schools were closed.

15 miles away got 6" of snow.

30 miles away got 12" of snow.

Here is the map.

I'll take the school closure so I don't have to go to work but I don't want the snow.

And we did get about an inch or so in Fargo overnight. Looks like I'll be shoveling for the first time in 2 (or has it been 3?) months.

Monday was fun. Cars started getting stuck on the hills in downtown we all know from GT's Seattle track, around 3:30pm, and mass exodus followed. The storm then quit as quickly as it had started.

There are no winters anymore. It was more than 10°C today, which could mean 32°C or 11°C. :D

Yes, found the correct thread!
