It's 50 and rainy here, kind of odd since tomorrow is December.

For once it is actually pretty bad snow here instead of the usual "ZOMFG there is an inch close everything".
Another day off school tomorrow... Might actually go outside and build a snowman instead of playing GT5... But then again I might not

State of emergency has been declared in 6 states. No school until next week and probably no work, except if you live closeby (like me) and everyone is free to leave today... except I have a meeting with clients in the US over the phone at 6:00

Based on your earlier picture, not even close by residents should be coming in.

Lincolnshire has officially fell apart due to the snow. Why aren't we prepared for this kind of thing? We always have a spout of snow every year for atleast a week and it always becomes chaos. Although this is the worst bout of snow in a long time we still aren't prepared for it. The 43 Gritters that are going out tonight aren't going to make that much of a difference either. Ah, I guess I'll be having another day off tommorrow.

Is a gritter like a salt truck, or do they just spray grit on the road?

Gritter. You can attach a plough or not.

Cold, windy, rainy here in dreary Erie. Wind was gusting so hard in the morning (where my neighborhood is nearly pitch-dark) that I nearly got decked by a trash can. Oh, how I hate weather. :indiff:

Kind of like what would happen if it hit you in the legs, I probably would've smacked my face into the pavement.

Never mind Gatwick or Edinburgh airports... a real emergency in Scotland is when this happens (from here) :nervous:

It's a fabulous winters day here. -12 C at the moment, clear blue sky, absolutely no wind whatsoever and visibility is so good you can see forever. It's one of those days you rally want to be up in a small aircraft just flying around. There will be no turbulence at all, performance will be great and loads and loads of and just beautiful, spectacular sights. Too bad I'm not current on any type atm.

We have snow showers going on and it seems like people forgot how to drive too. The roads weren't covered or slick, I don't see what the issue was.

Snow here in Leeds, my work are refusing to let us go home for safty reasons, what happens when my shift ends and its pitch dark. Sat here with lots of unhappy workers wanting to go.

:scared: Can they do that? Where do you work?! I bet they wouldn't have told you to stay at home for safety reasons...

Just spent about 2.5 hours clearing the road with the neighbours and my sister.
Will get photos up in a minute.
School closed for the rest of the week :D

Today, we had bright blue warm sunny skies, followed by huge thunderstorm, followed by blue sky again, followed by thunderstorm, followed by night.
Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

I work for British Gas  lol (Pays the bills and for GT5)

They have now closed the building but are staggering people going by floor and distance from work, im on the last floor but I live about 20+ miles from work in Leeds City Center. My partner is not happy either she work here too.

So it's not the "going home bit" it's the "all leaving the carpark at once" that's the problem?

Lots of snow! It's starting to stick here. We have probably two inches. Probably should have gotten an ice scraper before the snow fell...

My Blizzaks are pretty awesome in the stuff. So far it seems pretty easy to drive in with the proper equipment. And people were doing alright in it here.

Snow flurries with temps in the 30s.

So it looks like what I call a salt truck:

To me grit is sand and dirt, and we never put that on the roads around here. It is always either rock salt or a brine spray.

That's what we get put on our roads. It's fun coming across one coming the other way on a 60mph road. You have no option but to take the full force of the grit and salt hitting your car head on :(

I seem to have lost my car. I last saw it next to the house on Tuesday night, but it seems to have just vanished...

Why did you just take pictures of snowy ground daan?
I spent 2.5 hours earlier clearing the road and it is now a blizzard...
Thanks for that weather god

The best thing to do is leave it there so it melts a bit then freezes again to form an impenetrable tomb of ice to protect it from further snow :dopey:👍

Also for the record we've hardly had any snow here, very disappointing!

That's it exactly. Leeds train station was badly blocked by people and trains were all over the place. Managed to get home. Over 3 hours to from Leeds to Wakefield the to my village. What a farse.

Has anyone else(In the UK) heard about the police now issuing 3 penalty points and a £60 fine if you're caught driving around with snow on your roof?. I don't know if it's true but I was told that my local radio station annouced it earlier and i've seen it on a few other forums myself.

It wouldn't surprise me if they were doing that as it could be classed as an unscured load but they should be more concerned with the huge slabs of sheet flying off the top of articulated lorry trailers on the motorway!
