Well, decided to finally give the 930 Super Lap a go with no aids (only ABS) and boy is it a handful. I'm still trying to get to grips with the car but actually on my third completed lap of the Nordschleife I got a good enough time to put me in the top 300! So...

...yay? :boggled:
what kind of time is this now just curious

Participation numbers are most likely down to the car and track choice as to whether tuning is allowed or not.

I know I have ventured out in the Civic simply because I don’t like the track very much.

Let’s face it most of us are nowhere near the limits of the car anyway so tuning or setup will have very little impact for the vast majority!

Hmm no.. Everybody can get close to the limit of FWD cars, they really can't do much, and everybody can benefit highly from making them turn better. Also for almost all road cars in the game everybody will benefit highly from a well tuned gearbox.
And tuning is more straightforward than you think. You could just adjust a few simple settings and get major gains from that. Its a good opportunity to get started these trials.

Don't remember exactly but it's around the 8:14 / 8:15 range.

There's plenty of time left on track for me, I have understeereed into some corners and had to tap the throttle to control the car in others. And got scared :censored:less in some high speed sweepers.

I'm willing to try the Civic next afternoon. I feel like I'm one of the few people who like Streets of Willow Springs and FF cars. :guilty:

I think I'll try and run the car as quick as possible stock and then tune it up. That's what I used to do (imissyou,gt5and6seasonals).

I don't know anything about tuning, so I just lowered it a bit and made it a bit stiffer, didn't touch gearbox or camber/trail, I managed a :32.0 after 10 laps, I probably won't try again, 2 weeks is too long, but I'll try the next one.

I think 2 weeks for 2 events is fine. You can spend 1 week for 1 event and the other week for the other event, so everyone can try it out even if they have time constraints! @Lazybike

if you can’t tune a car there’s no sense in even attempting the TT
I know you said we were done but Im reading this again and its really hurting my eyes.
What has made GT so great for us is that it's always been geared towards making its player get better in a multitude of ways. From day 1 you had to take series of tests before you could do anything.
Tuning and bettering one's understanding of what a car is made of is a huge part of the game. GT Sport is only now trying to get all of its players to look into it, and I'm confident that this event will help get many newer players interested and hooked on tweaking their car, widening and deepening their GT experience.

if I may share my own opinion, I think both the 'tuning allowed' time trials and the 'no tune' super laps have a place in the game. The no tune super laps are a sole test of skill so there's no question there and I usually prefer them, but the tuning time trials should also be a part of the game in my opinion.

I mean, if you're good at driving but bad at tuning you can always copy a tune from the top guys!

The main part of this game is Sport Mode, where tuning isn’t allowed, ever, you can’t even use a shifter there anymore. So there is absolutely no need to know how to tune for this game, this is a one off event most likely and we won’t have to worry about it again anyways. :)

Straight up, Tuning makes the car easier to drive, which actually makes you a worse driver over time because you’re tweaking the car to you instead of tweaking your driving to the car. Therefore you’re not learning key skills that you would have learned while driving the stock cars. ;)

Yeah it does feel like you're worried about others enjoying/discovering other things.
Please watch as GT proves you wrong but try not to lose sleep over it.
1 off event lol

Indeed you can, it's a free world out there. This is probably how many slowly got drawn to doing it themselves in the first place.

Considering there’s only ever been one other event that’s allowed tuning, yeah, it’s probably a one off event, sorry to hurt your feelings. As far as worried, not in the least, I can tune a car just fine. I’d just rather the cars be equal so the competition is between driving abilities and not tuning abilities.

this is the return of gt5/gt6 seasonal events

Yeah youre worried that some other fast guys are better tuners and get an advantage. You've got 3 dailies, 4 FIA races and 1 online time trial to satisfy you, yet you're obsessing over that event.
The seasonal events of GT5/6 are back, they won't go away and tuning will most certainly be available in 1 event every cycle.

Worried? Not in the least man  , nice projection though. 👍

I just want fair racing for all, where no one gets any advantages, that’s it, that’s all. Tuning doesn’t allow for that, so I don’t want it involved. And you’re the one who can’t stop quoting my posts, yet I’m the one who is obsessed eh? You’re just too funny man!

I'm personally okay with tuning time trials. The only thing that bothered me in past Gran Turismo seasonals was that the time trials were limited by PP and not to a one-make sort of rule, so you had the people who used their own car which mostly never made it to the top and then about 5000 players using the GSXR-4, the RX500, the 2J and the like.

In my eyes, the tuning event is balanced but agree to disagree!

I'm not projecting anything.
You "want fair racing for all", You "don't want it involved". You're worried and obsessing on it, to the point you want it removed from the game. I wouldn't point that out if you didn't try to prevent others having fun.
cheers.

How is that any different than you wanting tuning included even though that ruins the fun of people who don’t want it? It’s the same thing dude, except there are way more people who don’t want it than people who do. Hence why it’s never been included before now, other than ONE single daily event that lasted one day. It would be different if the tunes were viewable in the top replays so everyone could see everyone else’s tune, then it would be fair, but they don’t do that so it takes away the fairness for people who don’t know how to tune.

Thanks for making it crystal clear to everyone that you're totally worrying/obsessing over something new that you have no obligation taking part in.
We got it youre a good driver. Move on.

Also I never said I wanted anything.

Have a great day man, enjoy making cars easier to drive!

Agree with a previous poster that there's place for both tuning and non-tuning races, but like @Pigems said, the current Sportmode [FIA] focus on non-tuning, so I don't bother or have the time to spend on tuning. Proper practicing to find the best car and tyre strategy before a race takes enough time and if I have to then tune too, I will miss most races. Those who like tuning though, well glad they enjoy it, but looking at current participation it seems tune races are not that popular in my region.
