I feel like I'm one of the only people slower on a wheel than on a controller.

Heck I couldn't even gold most GT5 license tests on the wheel ;-;

Well if I'm not mistaken there was a guy at the live finals who'd qualified on dualshock.
Players addicted enough probably end up buying wheels and learning. Many would be almost as fast on their old dualshock.

Ready for one more day! (The black Porsche is under maintenance).

So so close. 8:11.216 #129, had a few mistakes that cost me prolly 2sec.

EDIT: I have a feeling the smaller diameter F1 wheel is a detriment with this car/tire. My inputs are a little too fast, great for real race cars.....not so much the 930. Now I want to buy an extra wheel lol

View attachment 841949 Hi everyone,I’m using a controller and auto gears(never learned manual)but no aids except ABS and i’m miles away from a competitive time.So far i’ve managed 893rd .Which corners can you gain the most time?
I would think that's alright on auto gears.
Yes, but I think it will not happen between wheel vs DS4 uses to separating them in a Time Trial.
what's not fair about it can you go into some detail

This is a good start, but shame it's not a "run-what-you-brung" type event. Fastest FF, FR, MR, AWD, Gr.X, Gr.4.

I don't think the game supports that really. There is no challenge to modding your car, no differing selection of suspension components, diffs, etc, etc. Everyone would just max out the META car and be on their way to a glorified one make series.

It's like that now. One car to tune and one car not tuned. There are players that would still use the car they are comfortable with and also their favorites. Same as Sport Mode races.

I’m going to try something new next attempt. As I mentioned before, I’m on a Fanatec F1 wheel setup which is too “quick” for this car IMO. While I don’t have a round/larger wheel to use, I can adjust steering sensitivity through the base. I’m going to try dialing it back just a little to see if it helps.

I know I’ve got a few more seconds in me. Shooting for top 100.

After getting to know the car pretty well over in "daily a" i wanted to take a crack at this again without any tc, so abs my only aid. I just can't seem to get the feel of the g29 brake pedal to properly run no abs.

Anyway, i imidiatly cut more than a second of my time, and the car actually feels easier to drive without tc, or maybe i just got that much better at driving her. Optimum is a 8.22xxx now and i think i can actually break under 20 if i get enough time on the wheel this weekend....

Maximum effort.

Sorry.

If I understand right, your wheel is bypassing the game's setting for wheel rotation lock depending on the car. Might be good with high grip high aero cars to have something closer to 360° but with that Porsche I think you'll be better off with the full 1080° to have a smoother and more precise control.

Right now mine is set to use the games setting so my rotation is exact to the game. But because my wheel is a much smaller diameter, I can physically apply more rotation faster than which a larger diameter wheel. Makes it tricky for cars like this.

TC is awful for any car because it's much harder to get a feel for its limits. If you can drive that car through Nordschleife without it you really have no reason to ever use it again on any car.

Oh I see.. But what does the steering sensitivity setting do then? like delay/smooth your inputs out? Id want my wheel as sensitive as possible with this one..

With a Fanatec you can choose auto which lets the game determine rotation sensitivity. I can manual adjust to the sensitivity to either make it more responsive to a given rotation or less.

So I could say set my wheel to replicate 500° of steering ratio, or 900°. I’ve never tried to make it slower though, so not positive if it will work. A full sized wheel would prolly save me a few seconds.

@bil coz quote did not work for some reason...

I was previously just not able to keep this thing under control without tcs on the cs tires. I hate using tc and only use it as a final resort to keeping a car on the track.

For myself, it was simply to much at first, tried for a long time last week to learn this classic beast raw. I simply could not. I only pointed out my experiance thus far to perhaps encourage others to try and drop tc if they are using it.

Got one more clean lap in before having to go to work. I got my time down to 8.23.954 with an opt of 21.095 definitely aiming for a sub 8.20 this weekend.

I see :) well its great that you were able to drive it fully in the end, and I don't think any car will ever be a problem ever again after this one on the ring!

At the end of the day, no improvements. (8:14.287) But there was a lot of fun!
tasty livery

I tried @praiano63 tune for the Civic event and was 4 seconds off the leader after 10 or so laps. Then I watched the top replay (French player, might've changed by now) and I see his front end is jacked up in the air with the rear scraping the ground. I reversed praiano's ride height settings and voila! Instantly went 1 second faster on my second lap.

Even after 22 years, good to see PD still can't get basic ride height physics right 👍

This is one of the top 10 guy's below

I am in the low 1:31s but my car is opposite to the front & rear like this picture above, and I just found this and thanks to LeGeNd-1. Next time I will have a look at the replays of the top 10 sooner, rather than a few days before it finishes.

Is it actually wrong? This trick is used in Forza as well, to reduce the drag of the front and rear wings, increasing speed. You've got no chance of getting high up on the leaderboard for many speed cameras in FH4 if you don't do this.

I found turning the FF Sensitivity down with older road cars helps my too-twitchy steering technique. It may just be placebo but for me it's always felt like it mimics varying the wheel rotation degrees, slowing my steering input and helping me 'feel' the correct amount of steering angle.

I'm a little slower than you, somewhere in the mid 8:11s now, with a theoretical 8:09 possible according to my best sectors over a 5 lap stint. I too can somehow gain a couple seconds in the final sectors, but only on a lap where I've already messed up and the pressure is off!
