I did'nt know that you could change the car setting in challenges.......I feel like an idiot. :banghead:

I actually couldn't, because there is no menu in that test that says settings... Only driving options, so a bit weird where everybody gets this...

Dont understand why everyones having so much trouble with the top gear challenges lol... i never found ANY to be hard and im using a controller...

lol... i do realize that was a bit of a douchey comment now. but i feel bad for you guys, i read some of these stories and realize my AI during it wasn't so gay!

Do not release the pedals just like that, the tyres are way too bad for that. Release throttle gentle when you brake. But don't just mash the brake pedal, never go fully in with that paddle, just gently brake and come off it again, while doing that go back on the throttle to keep the rear in line while yr braking...

BTW a friend of me died in an MR2 by just thinking like you, until he spun his car on place where there was almost no turn, wrapped the car around a three and him in it.... Corner was maybe a hint to the left...

Thanks for the tips, but I don't think you actually understood my previous post. I can't even coax the Elise around the first gentle turn - it oversteers under mild acceleration in an upper gear. It just shouldn't do that, and would not in real life. I'm not talking about braking or lifting throttle, no matter how gently. I cannot get the car to continue around a sweeper under constant moderate cornering load, even with weight transferred to the rear. Mild acceleration should be the proper fix for oversteer in this car, but in the game that's what causes oversteer in the first place, so you can't use that to correct the problem. And of course you can't lift or brake, as I said. I've driven this car in real life, as well as MR2s in various forms, and I completely understand how that will bite you in the ass.

Are ours all driving pink cars with rainbow bumper stickers? Maybe Miatas instead of Elises? Are they all hairdressers with little dogs in the passenger seat? Other than the obvious stereotypes I'm not sure how you can tell their sexual orientation from outside the car. Also, please use capital letters. Thanks.

lol, i did it Gold with no settings all aids off except ABS 1. after like 20 min restarting ^^

:scared:. Sorry mate! I guess I mean't to say that my AI wasn't so rude to me :p

I used the same line in Barkode's vid but without the bumping. I am suprised he was not DQ'ed for the amount of contact with the other cars.

bottom of page :grumpy:
I had been using that very same path through hammerhead but I didn't have the success that you had. I found using the outside line allowed me to pass more cars.

I was able to do all of the Loeb rally challenge events with less than 5 restarts each track (had the snow one on the first shot!), and the nascar challenges finished in the same fashion, but this infernal lotus challenge still eludes me....I just can't stay near the buggers on that Follow Through and beyond section to pass any of them!

Ah i see, yah yah, i'm following you now. The only tip for that is apply little braking while accelerating, i know it sounds dumb, but it helps.

And yeah sorry man, but loosing a friend in a nice adorable car makes you think sometimes cynically... :guilty:

Nice advice but I still think they should patch it with sport tires. Unless that "intermediate" challenge is meant to be that difficult.

Its not that difficult.. i had more trouble trying not to crash into the AI than controlling the car..

Well, I finally beat the challenge with the Samba bus and unlocked the track. Now to beat it with the Elise!

Well I can't believe that I finally won the Lotus challenge after what seems like a 1000 attempts!!!

A friend of mine reported this morning on his experience with this challenge and said much the same as Duke and others - that this challenge is very difficult indeed with the wheel. I don't use a wheel and I found this challenge pretty straightforward (3rd place on my first clean lap, and 1st after about 10 more tries). I'm leaning toward the hypothesis that using the controller is the path of least resistance here. Either way, it is a pity to hear from people like my friend (non-GT players and potential converts) that this challenge feels so unrealistic and can be prohibitively difficult, esp. for newcomers to the game, as I feel it is giving a misleading impression of what the rest of the game is like. That said, with so many experienced players (and actual drivers too) saying much the same thing, it is a little disturbing - and it is probably of little consolation to be faced with the idea of resorting to using a DS3 for certain missions...

I agree however I have a dfgt and after only 5 tries after adjusting the brake ballance I got an easy first by over 1.5 secs, and by no means am I a good driver. I think the key is adjusting the brake ballance.

Just fine for me... manual gear, clutch and abs 4. Tried couple times... silly mistakes. Managed gold in the samba bus and bronze in the elise... if i try more couple times, can bring silver home...but i´m not in the mood.

Heres my handy dandy guide on the stock assists if anyones needs a hand.

Disclamer: May not be serious. :sly:

I declare that whoever has beat this challenge (GOLD) with no assists, tuning, and using a H-shifter + clutch is deemed GOOD at GT5. Everyone else should try harder, stop complaining, and become GOOD.:dopey:

💡

btw i am GOOD :)

aha yeah, that makes you 1/3 Good. thanks for receiving the troll humor well 👍

on a more serious note though, I did become a better driver through the challenge and the license tests

It took me awhile to gold the challenge but I'm finally getting used to the tail happy Elise.
