I wanna know when America will figure out that REAL racing involves right turns!

IMAO, straight lines (drag) and high-speed ovals are fun for about seven minutes, tops. (Considerably less for us Attention-Deficit types.) Of course, the US DID realize that allowing engines larger than 2.0 liters makes for better rallying, so there's hope yet.:D

Zanardi's Italian, and was an ex-F1 driver, so should be listed in the category of F1 drivers who went to the States and did well in ChampCar, rather than as being someone who went from ChampCar to F1. When he went to F1 for the second time, he joined a team at the base of the downturn.

Same goes for Montoya, who was sent over to the States to gain experience, and look at what he's doing in F1 now.

When Mansell went over, he went to the best team with the best car, whereas Andretti went to McLaren, who were in deep trouble at the time. Also, Andretti wasn't prepared to live the F1 life, so with 3-4 transatlantic flights a week, it wasn't surprising that his performance was substandard. If you want to look at ChampCar drivers making a success in F1, you're really only talking about Jacques Villeneuve, but then he did join Williams, who were top of the pile at the time.

Personally, I like watching ChampCar racing, because I think the single seaters on ovals are awesome. Their drivers are much braver too, unlike the pampered jessies in F1! I've watched a few Nascar races, and I'm sorry, but they're duller than ditchwater. I don't get it at all.

On driving standards, I live in the UK, and most drivers think that the moment they pass their License test, that's when they stop learning about driving. And the UK L-test equips you for British roads like B-1 equips you for the Grand Valley Enduro in GT3!

The worst drivers I've exerienced are the Greeks, both in their native land and in the UK. Overtaking on blind bends, doing 50-60mph in a 30mph zone, past a school, smoking and using a cellphone while driving, driving drunk etc.

And as for GT3, I think nationality has sack all to do with ability. The question is, in my opinion, mince. I've enjoyed reading the replies though!

Hope I haven't offended too many people!

I stand corrected on that then (not offended).

Still stick to my guns though - Americans drive well in their own private championships, but wouoldn't be able to hack it against the best in the world.

Who has the best GT3 drivers??

We'll it's England if you want to be specific.

Just checkout the Current Leader Board for the GTPlanet Team qualifications.

1st - GVX (England)
2nd - Mr Persistance (England)
3rd - ///M325i (England)

Results speak for themselves. If you dont agree, PROVE IT!! The race series is open to everyone!

There are a lot of americans that would like to disagree with you. A Whopping 45% of adult Americans have watched a NASCAR race in the last year, 4% have been to a race in the same time. Thats 130 MILLION race fans! The viewership is spread more or less evenly across all socioeconomic, age, and geographic boundaries. That is REAL racing

http://www.harrisinteractive.com/harris_poll/index.asp?PID=57

My point is this. Why would a highly skilled American driver want to race in a series where he can make about the same money (give or take a couple million) and have nobody he knows be able to watch him race? Michael Schumacher and Jeff Gordon walk down the street in ANY city in the US, Who do you think gets mobbed by fans? I'll give you a hint. His Name starts with J and ends with eff Gordon.

Michael Schumacher and Jeff Gordon walk down the street almost ANYWHERE in the rest of the civilised world (okay, not everywhere, just Europe, South America, Austrilasia and most of Asia) and who do you think gets mobbed by fans. I'll give you a hint. His name starts with M and ends in.... You get the idea yea?

Are you trying to answer your own questions?? If your putting down a challenge then at least give me the opportunity to kick your a$$. :D

As you fully well know the GTPlanet TT tourney isn't about just one track using one car!! This tourney is 10 different tracks using 10 very different cars. Sure if you spend long enough setting up a "Single" car to race on a "Single" track then sure your gonna eventually get a fast lap!!

Since your so hot on Toyko 246 have ago at Time Trial #3 and then we'll see how fast you think you really are!!

Tell us ZeroCool85 why your not competing in the GTPlanet TT tourney. The reason why has slipped my memory - enlighten me??

A Challenge with the S2000 (yours) I'll accept then we should race with the F1 cars there, sound like a plan?

O I'll enter it, but I saw your "faster than blah time and must show proof" well not to make excuses but my father has my digital camera this weekend so I will not be able to provide proof IF I beat that time.

Tell us ZeroCool85 why your not competing in the GTPlanet TT tourney. The reason why has slipped my memory - enlighten me??

Jordan told me not 2!

Good point Brian! And besides who like Jeff Gordon? If you are gonna compare Michael Shumacher to anyone why Jeff Gordon and not the 7 time champ Richard Petty?

Lots of people like jeff gordon. Hes a great driver. Petty hasnt raced in years, but I bet that people would still recognize him. I was shooting for currentness instead of legendaryness.

What we have to look at is why people race.
People race so that their balls feel larger, they dont have to have a real job, and they get the women.

the first two are the same the world over. But european chicks are all hairy and gnasty. We have the best chicks, so we win. Game, Set, Match.

I know we have had our differences Brian but if you call turning left for 3 and a half hours racing/driving then i dunno its not racing to me.

I have to agree with you. I personally dont like NASCAR. I think ovals are boring, but the essence of racing is most certainly there.

You feel the car THROW the pavement behind you, You push hard to overcome the lateral G forces. Your vision cant keep up with the assault of images thrown at you. You try to tuck in just a little closer. Man against man. You strategize, you push hard and dig deep, bleeding, risking life and limb, dying... all to save a fraction of a second. If you've never done it, I highly recommend you try it at least once.

Oval, Road, Car, Motorcycle, Boat, Tricycle. Its all about the driver.

Like it or not, ovals racing is still racing. The benefit is that you can see the whole race from the stands. I wouldnt pay to sit in the stands to see each car for the eighth of a second that its in front of you.

Oval racing with Cart and the IRL is racing to me since they have to dodge each others car avageing over 200mph per lap every lap.

How fast do you think NASCAR goes?
Super speedways like talledega easily pass 200

Not with those aero packages, but IRL could average 200mph+ on Dover.

Back when BIll Elliot averaged 212.XXXmph at Talledega now that was racing since one car could pull a giant gap on the rest of the field and could practical pull away. Now with those aero packages all 43 cars are bunched together and its not racing!

 Yes, who the hell cares about the other five populated continents on the planet. They only make up the majority of the globe. How foolish of me to think that because the rest of the world cares about something you guys might actually take notice. One day you will realise that there is a world happening beyond your borders. Get ready, it might come as a bit of a shock.

Just because something isn't hot in the USA, doesn't mean it isn't important on the world stage. I hate to break it to you, but the Superbowl is NOT the big event of the year, that the World Series winners are NOT the world champions and that these are basically minority sports that most of the rest of the world laughs at.

Its just the same in racing. F1 is the world wide motorsports pinnacle, most people don't give a rat's *** about boring oval racing. Pretty much EVERYONE else sees this and just because you guys don't want to race it that doesn't make it any less the best. Its just sad you don't want to play with all the other children.

It is sadly indicative of your national arrogance that you dismiss everything else in the world as less important than events in the good old U S of A. I love America, I lived in California for nearly a year and I have loads of American friends, but I wish you guys would realise that you are not the most important people around and that sometimes you attach too much importance to your own games.

Here endeth the lesson

I think you missed my point. Americans want to be famous in America. We like it here. We dont care about the world stage of sports, and nothing is going to change that. Our activities reflect our values, and our media is wide spread enough to facillitate this.

Declaring your favorite sport to be superior is pointless. I love f1, but I can definitely see why Americans dont watch it in large numbers. One sport is not better than another simply because there are more people that watch it. "Playing with the other children" is just another way to say globalization, assimilation, and loss of national identity and culture. Most of us aint down with that.

Every american kid plays soccer as a youth, but there is still not much of a professional league. I propose that its because we dont have soccer rammed down our throats as the only serious professional sport. Variety is the spice of life.

so again, I say that the people that want to race f1 (in general) are the people that care about the places that f1 is popular. Thats all I was saying.

I'm glad to see everyone is getting on just fine!!

Maybe this should be continued in the Rumble strip as it no longer has any relevance to GT3 or MOtorsport in general:eek:

I certainly agree with GVX.

I wonder if these guys have even read the topic...

It says: Who has the best ****GT3***drivers!

CHEERS!
