Due to absence, there's possibly only Beachboy in a GT next week and he's maybe joined by Joe the following week. There's also Harsk possibly in the Z but Doodle seems to have disappeared. But anyway the class is a bit empty so as I said I don't mind GTing again for 2 weeks just to fill the field up. I think I'm in a 365 for the week 3 rerun anyway - although there's only 2 of us.
The GT class racers for Round 9 are due to be RESERVE (
@Napalm_LT) Ferrari 365 GTB4 number 39,
@beachboy6658 Ferrari 365 GTB4 number 75,
@DON Mejil Porsche 911 number 43, Bichu Mau Porsche 911 number 49,
@IAMDOODLEBUG Nissan 240Z number 99.
@Harsk100 should be in a Ford GT40 (also should have been in one last week - please no Chevrolet Camaro's - that isn't in this series).
GT class racers for Round 10 are due to be
@beachboy6658 Ferrari 365 GTB4 number 75,
@joedakiss Ferrari number 39, Bichu Mau number 49. Harsk is due to be in a Nissan 240Z number 84 with Iamdoodlebug in a 240Z again number 99.
@Napalm_LT has said he is ok to drive a GT next round so Beachboy will have some company.
This afternoon I tried out various different cars using the room settings for Round 9 - note it will be wet. The settings are as follows: Date = 31/05/1970, Weather X 30, 4 slots = light rain / light cloud / light cloud / medium cloud. Circuit = Hockenheim Classic.
This track has some areas of standing water (puddles) which don't dry out so care has to be taken at several points around the track. I found the Nissan 240Z impossible to control on a wet track - possibly it has slick tyres? The Porsche 911 was ok, but lapped very slowly (I really struggle to get speed out of this car wet or dry), The Ferrari 365 GTB4 was very nice in the wet so Beachboy and Napalm should have an enjoyable race.
You can race a Porsche 911
@IfAndOr in Round 9 if you wish, but I think you will find the Prototype easier to drive in wet conditions at Hockenheim. I have decided to use a Ferrari 512M as scheduled - I found it virtually impossible to drive at Watkins Glen in the dry, but it seems fine in the wet.
The best car that I tested in the wet was the Merc 6.8 saloon from GTB - it was faster than the GTA cars! We will try that car in some wet races in a future series!
Regarding pit stops - there is no option to have compulsory pit stops with a timed race (i.e. a 30 minute race) and I want to stick with the 30 minute format. We could try tyre wear in the future (perhaps without pit stops), but I have mainly avoided this because generally the cars which we race are already quite difficult to control so I don't think the extra difficulty introduced by tyre wear would be beneficial. If and when we are racing more modern cars we could try tyre wear, but obviously I will need to test it first. Possibly try it with GT1 cars.
I am not sure if Bichu Mau, Kerios and Iamdoodlebug are still wanting to race - I will delete them from both series if they don't make an appearance in Round 9 or 10 so those slots can be given to new drivers.
