Next Round - Brands Hatch GP (Dry)

Note - it will be a dry race on Wednesday. In 1970 and 1971 the race was wet, but in testing I found Brands Hatch simply too tricky in wet conditions, hence the wet conditions were moved to the previous round.

Below - enjoy this excellent footage of the real race held in 1970:

Gutted!

Was having a good race, managing the pace until I timed badly the heel toe for the first corner. Locked the rear wheels and the front ones followed suit. Couldn’t avoid hitting the wall and damaging the car quite badly.

Quite happy with the qualifying time though.

Looking forward to the next series!

Championship Points Table

1970 Round 10 of 10 Brands Hatch GP.jpg

It's down to the wire with the championship to be decided at the final round - the late running of round 3 at Silverstone Classic.

The Teams - McQueen v Garner
Everyone is probably aware of Steve McQueen's motorsport record which includes representing the USA in the ISDT 6 Days Trial (for motorcycles), a round of the British Saloon Car Championship (the champion - his great friend Sir John Whitmore lent him his Mini to race at Brands Hatch) and second place driving a Porsche 908 in the Sebring 12 hours - an incredible result, especially considering his injured foot!

But not everyone is aware of James Garners incredible contribution to motorsport - he was an accomplished desert racer and very talented driver and team manager. He was closely involved with a team called AIR (American International Racing) which fielded Corvette L88's and Lola T70's in American rounds of the World Sports Car Championship and Surtees F5000 single seaters in the US Intercontintental Championship. The following superb period film follows Garner as he races in the desert then fields his Lola T70's. It also shows him visiting a freezing cold Silverstone and his new Surtees F5000 followed by the handling and setup problems which the team and driver Scooter Patrick had to overcome - including plugging a petrol tank leak with bubblegum! If you have the time, I thoroughly recommend watching:

Tonight and next monda evening shift.... so I am not there :banghead:

And,,,
Tuesday 11 September operation (renovation) shoulder blade and upper arm and shoulder tendons. 6 Weeks absolute rest (so no gaming) and then hopefully work (and gaming :-)) without pain!

In the hope of a good result until soon,

Greetz Don

Hope all goes well with that Don.

@Sick Cylinder an early warning. I may not make it to next weeks races. Me and a mate are planning a few day trips out. As to whether that coincides with race days or if we'll be back in time I don't know yet. But if I'm not there that's the reason.

I won't be racing tonight for afforementioned reasons but will back with a vengeange (and hopefully some practice under my belt) from next Monday onwards!

Good luck with the operation Don - our thoughts are with you! Are you allowed to race with a hand controller while you heal? Come back when you are ready!

Have fun IfAndOr! Come back refreshed!

Congratulations Champion SimbaLora (AndreasR) and Vice-Champion Tavilha

1970 Round 10 of 10 Final Results.jpg

Congratulations to SimbaLora @AndreasR on another Championship Title and congratulations also to Vice-Champion Tavilha. SimbaLora showed great consistency with seven podiums including two wins in ten hard fought rounds. Tavilha also scored seven podiums, but with four wins, but had two absent rounds.

SimbaLora was the top scorer for Team McQueen, Tavilha for Team Garner. Final Team scores at 884 to 639 were not as close as originally expected due to higher absence in Team Garner.

Congratulations to all drivers on making this a clean and successful championship. Thank you to the Am Drivers who took turns driving the "Donkeys" - the much slower GT cars for a few rounds, which helped create a more realistic atmosphere and produced some exciting moments!

Last 5 mins of the race 👍

What a race @hasslemoff !! Incredibly satisfying and epic battle, with a few heart-stopping moments when lapping the slower cars!

Congrats to champion @AndreasR !! Great pace and consistency. Special thanks to @IBZ6L20VT and @Friday_GTRP for some great battles as always!

Here's my stream from yesterday. I'm linking it from my phone but if i get the chance i'll edit this on the pc with race and replay markers.

Looking forward to all these races, but specially to Algarve (my home circuit and my first win in real life) and 1h of torment in the green hell!

Just a quick reminder to all of you that this weekend is the Goodwood Revival meeting and the live stream is currently available on YouTube.

Apologies, but I have been too engrossed with watching to post earlier!

Ferrari DLC

All the cars look and feel great. I was worried that the road cars felt heavy and cumbersome, but they feel very nimble and responsive as they should. Even with SC, TC and ABS turned off, they're not too difficult to drive. Both the 250 versions are very sexy to look at and a joy to drive, but I have to say my favorite is the 355 Challenge. I think this would make an awesome single make series.
The sounds though, could be better in most cars. The best sounding duo is the F12tdf and the FXX K. All the others, including the 512 LM sound like they haven't had breakfast yet.
This was the first time I drove in virtual Fiorano and it's an ok test circuit. Good for some drift fun, but I don't think it's very useful, as it didn't seem a good circuit to tune your cars in.
As for Mugello, I could compare it to the Assetto Corsa version, which felt more accurate and visceral. In pCARS2 I was expecting it to be a bit bumpier as it is in AC, and more violent down and up the high camber high speed corners. But the cars seemed quite happy there and didn't get too unsettled if the wheels kept off the rougher curbs.
All in all, another great addition.
