My first attempt making gumbo. I was too big of a chicken to try making my own roux.

All in all it came out pretty good. But it's not the best I have tasted. As one might imagine, there are lots of great Cajun restaurants in Houston.

Just ate a very overripe(d) banana. Strange feeling in my mouth and a odd but not bad taste. Very sweet.
The banana peel was almost more brown than yellow, but not the banana though. It was still completely white.

I don't usually take the time to photograph food but I'm supremely happy with these scratch made cheese burgers.
Pork 20% fat, whole grain toasted buns and Monterey Jack cheese with a sprinkle of chilli flakes and oregano.

That's when they are at their best and very much how any banana ends up like after a couple of hours in the back of a cycling jersey. 👍

Last night I had these things from Trader Joe's. They were really good, much better than they look. I had them with soy sauce.

I bought this case of 24 Spam singles a little over two years ago. They cost me just under 83¢ a piece. The cheapest I have seen them in the grocery store is 99¢ on sale. Two year old Spam? Yes, they have a 'best by' date of July 2018.

I have used them in omelets, egg scramles or just with lettuce and tomato in Spam burgers. I don't eat them very often but I always enjoy them when I do. After today I have nine left, so that means I have eaten 15 over the last two years. I keep forgetting I have them.

Tonight I made one of my favorite Spam things.

A fried Spam, egg and cheese sandwich. I always break the yolk after I flip the egg, but I'm careful not to cook it until it is hard. I love me some runny egg yolk.

Spam is cheap here, it's one of the many cheap commodities of life, like instant Ramen or Chef Boyardee ravioli

I cannot eat a whole can, Most of it went to waste, unless I forced myself to eat it. The singles are the perfect alternative. And the 3+ year shelf life only adds to the value.
